The early WoW + give the new games some credit

I dont know if many players remember the WoW Launch. Newer games like LOTR and WAR get compared to WoW, In My Opinion unfairly.

lets try to remember the wow release:

- not yet released: Maraudon, Dire Maul, Zul'Gurub,AQ20/40, Onyxia,World Dragons

- No Honor/PVP system

- No Battlegrounds

- No World PVP Objectives

- Laggy,  heaps of bugs.

- Arcanite Reaper was the most powerful weapon around :p

WAR and LOTR managed more on their releases. Give em credit.

    Yes they managed more.

However more CRAP is not necessarily a good thing.

WoW was a very good game, until the end game. Even as an EQ1 vet I can admit that... even if it did play a little like EQ-lite.

Yet WoW had more content, better classes, a deep and well crafted world, and at the time brought up many new things to the table, the main one being hiding the grind behind quests, the second being character personnalization trough skill-trees; itemization was pretty well tough out with generic armor allowing you not to be totally gimped if you didn't get the phat loot in dungeons.

WoW wasnt meant to be a PvP game, and people started playing battlegrounds seriously only when they lift the old honor system in december 2006.

Overall, WoW refined the EQ formulae by fixing its shortcoming and improving everything else.

Today it has 10 millions suscribers, because lvling 1-60 was definitely one of the best MMo experience ever experienced, even by old timers.

    My addiction History:
    >> EQ1 2000-2004 - Shaman/Bard/Wizard/Monk - nolife raid-whore
    >> WoW 2004-2009 + Cataclysm for 2 months - hardcore casual
    >> Current status : done with MMO, too old for that crap.

    We do.

We just dont buy them yet. We wait until they are better.

While waiting we continue to play current games such as WOW and GW.

I had a great time on WOW from level 1 to 60. Then we had nothing to do, so my guild made arcanite reapers for weeks. Once everyone had one, including our paladins and hunters... we did MC and then got really bored and all left.

I just recently logged back into to WoW after like 8 months away. Seems pretty dead from when I used to play.
