Thinking of buying / joining: quick question?

Greetings All!

I'm finally thinking about giving LotRO a try.  But I hear that the "Mines of Moria" expansion is about to be released.

If I buy that, will that include the entire game?  Or do I have to buy the LotRO software package first, then the Moria expansion?

Just trying to estimate my costs in advance.  I earned an easy $100 recently and thought I'd treat myself to LotRO for my birthday (which will be the end of this month).

Thanks!

I think if you buy the Moria collectors edition you get both games and some other goodies for $90.

If you buy them separate, it'll cost you about $60 for both games.

Either way, I really think its worth it...

And theres no need buying Mines of Moria till you're all done with the original game anyway, MoM has gameplay for level 50 and above :)

I hope you like the game, im a lifetime subscriber and im loving it!

I think the $40 edition of Mines of Moria includes the original game as well as the expansion. Go to you local gamestop and make sure though. Cause I have also been looking into the game as well....I am currently play AoC, and I'm wondering if LoTRO or WAR is better.

The Mines package includes the whole game.  The original, Shadows of Angmar, is a complete game in itself and does not include Mines.  The Mines package includes Shadows, plus some extra in-game items (not necessarily highly valuable, but the pets could be a bit of fun) and quite a bit of new content.  I'd suggest you use the Mines expansion as your entry point into LotRO - while much of the Mines expansion will be unfriendly (extreme understatement) to the lower-level chars, some of it will be explorable by lower levels.

From another LotRO Lifer, I'd go for it!

    Be well and good questing!

At this point, don't buy SoA (the original game).  I'm not even sure you'll find it in the stores anyways, and can probably only get it as a digital download.

MoM releases on the 18th, and all versions of it will include the full original game plus the full expansion pack.  If you're wanting to buy it in the store there is the $40 complete edition, and the $80 collectors edition, depending on how many goodies you want.  Both can be bought on preorder at Gamestop, EB Games, etc., and both will include 30 days of free game time.  Also if you preorder you should be able to get a special price on the monthly charges you'd pay after the first month.

One other observation - Mines will also introduce two new charachter types into LotRO - the Runekeeper (a new magic-user type) and the Warden (a new fighter type).  That means there will be a wave of new chars running about trying to level up.  Other new chars would fit in well with this "new wave" - many of which will have older, experienced LotRO gamers running them.  That should offer better opportunities for a truly new player to level up, as there will be more newer chars out there to fellowship with.

The Mines of Moria "Complete Edition", which is $40.00, includes the original game as well. No need to purchase "Shadows of Angmar" separately once Mines of Moria is released next week. While most of the content in Moria is for levels 50-60, it also includes the 2 new classes, Warden and Rune-Keeper. Without Mines of Moria, those classes are not available at character creation.

So, if you're just starting out, get the MInes of Moria Complete Edition so you have access to all of the character classes right away.

After starting my Free trial thanks to a LOTRO player who sent me a buddy key..I decided to get LOTRO myself .I got a New Copy of the Special Edtion for $10 at Amazon.com,but Im working on a budget at the moment...so I'll have to wait on Mines of Moria. If you got the $40 buck it 100% worth it.

At least in euro what you ned is Moria Compilation Pack. This one will include Lotro Game and Moria expansion. Is the cheapest option.

To all new or "thinking about it" players.... give serious consideration to the $199 Lifetime subscription. It is a really good deal if you plan on playing long term(more than 1 yr) and you never have to worry about that monthly hit on your CC or trying to find gametime cards. Not sure how long the offer will be around this time but they might offer it again in the future.
