Question about this game

Was interested in trying this game, especially with the temp free to play thing they have going on for the moment. Just had a question about installing/playing the game. Does the game use any kind of nProtect or Gameguard type "anti-hack" kit? Was just curious, because I've had bad experiences with those before (SRO mainly), obviously since they're "rootkits." Which just ends up causing a lot more harm to everything heh. So to sum it up, does Ryzom use any kind of rootkit program? Just wanted to ask since unfortunately most free mmo's do Thanks in advance.

No, since the game has always been free to download, the game itself costs nothing, it's only past the Newbie island that it USED to (and will eventually again) cost a subscribtion fee to play on the Main Land. But you can have as many back-up copies as you wish and re-install it as much as you want. The game doesn't require a CD-Key to play... and it's not produced by EA.

(If I'm correct, they are the most known company that uses that kind of harmful "anti-hack" device on their games, right ?)

Off Topic: Don't get me started on EA I bought a digital download and their shoddy DL manager refused to let me download my purchase. Apparently it was 'my machine' even though I told them Id tried it on several others and had the exact same problem. They where blunt and unhelpful. 4 weeks later it randomly started working on ALL the machines. I hate EA.

On Topic: Never had a problem with the ryzom client installed it many times on many machines without a hitch! You can simply copy and paste the game folder to any machine and run it.
