Consider this a heads up if you haven't got the game yet. Buy the US version and play their servers.
The game is doing well in US with healthy servers, acceptable support and regular hotfixes.
In the EU the game is dieing. There's only two servers at High pop mid-week and those are non-english, the rest are somewhere between Med and Low. ORVR is rare, scenarios die out as you advance in tiers and support is non-existant. Patches are lost in translation. Features that the US have had since release are still on indefinate hold in the EU, such as Realm Leaderboards, Free Char Transfer to fix the ghost town servers and the recent Test Server which is the latest to get added to the EU's "coming soon"-list. Europeans are met with the same incompetent arrogance that mirrors what Funcom did at Conan.
I couldn't have thought of a better example of how support will make or break a game.

Having different publishers in the USA and EU is just asking for trouble, I can't get my head around why Developers do this.
I think "dieing" is overstating things a tad though.
Its cause here in europe we get treated as second class customers. Other day i was on the american war site, visually it looks better, better design and more content on it. Howcome we can't transfer off the dead servers yet? If you dont act fast you lose the chance to save this game..it may be too late already, its got a bad rep with more people. Pisses me off that over here they choose lame companys to release games for them.
Who is the European distributor?
Renko, its not. It is dieing here in Europe. I did play it for about 2-3 days before I said fuck the game, took about 1-2 weeks longer until all my friends did and went back to their usual games. I work at a gaming center and Im consumed with all the hatred against WAR, lol. No one plays WAR anymore.. Atleast not in Sweden, its like dead already since weeks ago.
GOA ...
It's a shame really considering the table top games stronghold is the EU and especially the uk, the gameing club I go to has around a hundred table top gamers and there was a real buzz about warhammer online and well over half bought the game in the frist week yet barely a month after release hardly any are still playing.
I must admit i feel that EU customers are not being looked after so to speak as well as american customers. The EU player base is huge yet we get treated terribly in comparison to the US, they have a site that functions well, the warhammer herald, realmwar etc etc. Getting a US version of the game might be better but i don't know if i wanna go through the whole leveling process again.
GOA ...
They're a french telecom company that also partnered with Mythic's Dark Age of Camelot. Their performance was equally bad there and it's no exaggeration to say that Camelot players in the EU were half a year behind the US in version history.
The catch is; GOA promised in an open letter that they'd better themselves for WAR.
Anyway, I could live with bad support as long as there were people to play with, but I rarily run into anyone because the population is spread too thin across the servers. It breaks my heart because I fancy the game alot.
We're stuck in a circle where people leave because the pop is low and the pop is low cause they leave etc. That tends to end in only one way.
I have to agree!
This game is dying..havent found an open party since chap 10 pub quests..its really a shame, cause i like the game
[/URL]
I agree with the open partys etc but i seem to pick up a warband for RVR and plenty of scenarios every night. most of the game seems quiet due to everyone playing pvp of some kind on our server.
But ye i would agree that "dead" seems a little over the top. its not exactly a ghost town like vanguard turned out or AoC. But i'm still enjoying it in anycase so maybe i have tinted vision
Even so, its completly unnaceptable that the EU versio differs so completly from the US version.
Its something that really pisses me off about Lotro, although the version are pretty much the same, the support and dev interaction on the EU side is appaling.
They even have to send a token dev to the EU forums and do a 'Q&A' session.
Regardless of population (I dont actually mind, sometimes prefer a low-pop) the for-warning about the EU - US differences are very much appreciated.
Because the law requires you to have offices located in the country / continent area in order to host a business that interacts with that region. Smaller companies can't afford to run two seperate offices so they lease out the rights to other companies like GOA. Mythic was a small company and resigned a deal with GOA despite player protest to find someone else to host their game THEN they signed up and merged into EA who could of hosted it but the deal was done. Unless EA finds a way to wiggle out of the contract EU people are pretty much stuck with GOA hosting the game.
i been playing from headstart and prolly today or in a few days my account runs out of time.
well the amount of ppl on my server (Karak Hirn) first it was destruction was on top .. than everyone went order since bw got overpowered and now its pretty much the whole server is dead tier 1-4 takes at least 30 min to get a pvp game there is like no world pvp at all especialy not in tier 4 even tho loads are allready 40.
and now that they released a live server to test stuff.. (wow fibe sigh) even tho i heard my class got lot beter (magus) i still cant be arsed to resub since the server is dead and well.. allowing ppl to transfer to other servers.. not gona help they need to merge loads of em to get at least something going

LOL - what a load of nonsense. What Law, and in which country is this law?
How does Eve online do it then?.. they have one server serving the entire world, does CCP have an office in every country in the world?... er... no ! CCP have an office in Iceland, the servers are in London and is open to anyone in the world.
The reason why MMO's get split is actually because they use cheap servers and connections and cant afford servers that can provide a good enough latency to people around the globe.
The "devs" in EU version arnt really devs, they are more like network engineers just making sure that the servers are maintained. It also means they avoid certain tax's and charge more in another country.
Splitting an MMO is just purly company polical thing driven by profit, which ultimatly means the EU customer suffers from poor customer service and slow reactions to game updates.

Yeah its all very well blaming GOA, but if they are too smal to cope then they are to small to cope.
If this was already happening during DAOC then Mythic should have known better than to re-engaged them to manage WAR!
So the blame ultimately lies at the feet of Mythic as it is their game.
Wow! Gaming companies try to produce good games all the time and fail,
and here is Mythic that have produced a decent game and it is being ruined by server hosting issues!!!
How sad is that!?!?
Dying!!! It is DYING, not DIEING! BLAARGGHHAAHHHGHGHHAHEHHH!!!!!!!!!!! *pant pant*
Whatever. What secondary languages have you mastered to perfection? As long as the massage gets across I could care less.
"Yeah its all very well blaming GOA, but if they are too smal to cope then they are to small to cope"
Good point. I hadn't thought about that. On the other hand that contract they have with Mythic might be awfully tricky and they might have been able to wrestle controll of WAR EU through it *shrugs* What do I know?
I'd expect Mythic to have some sort of fine print along the lines of "if you (GOA) can't live up to promises then there'll be hell to pay."
Please dont lie to people OP. This "healthy servers, acceptable support " one, I am on two of the lol healthy servers (your word) so if they just pick a server MOST will be DEAD. There is NO NONE RVR. See most just play scenarios over and over to get RR/XP so this WAR .. well there is NONE. You may find ONE going one and you would THINK that with all these people that a FEW are talking about you would see them WANTING WAR.
Nope what you will see is NO chat and this is not a LIE. This is the only MMO there NO ONE .. you will see 20+people and NO ONE talks EVER in chat. You feel like your paying for a SOLO game.
The game is not like it was two weeks ago its getting less and less people. And SUPPORT OH MY GOD.. go read .. go SEARCH this on VN boards .. there is NONE. To this DAY I have NEVER EVER got help.
You know the best way to find the truth because each POSTER (me too) KNOW where right and the other guy is wrong. Go buy the game and go to VN boards (just google it) and ASK ASK ASK ASK what server is best if you do like the OP says and just pick one you will be VERY VERY lonely. Then watch chat. There is NONE. This is NOT War just a scenario and PVE very SOLO game.
Your best bet it to just WAIT a few months till they get it working. We never got to test scenarios so in beta WAR was .. MAN it was a blast. EVERYONE was at the RVR. Now if you just go to ANY T1-T4 you wont find tons of people at WAR. Just a few and you will wonder.. WHERE is everyone.. for a game thats lmao doing SO healthy why is it so empty mon,tue,wed,thur,fri,sat,sun.. pick any time you want.
You dont have to believe me.. go buy the game and see ..
I am sceptical about whether this is true. I don't see how a large amount of internet based businesses could operate if there was such a law.
I may be wrong, can you provide info on this law? I assume that it would be EU legislation if such a rule exists.
EDIT: They already have at least 1 EU office so this obviously is not the reason

Europeans have better taste...
Thats why i love the old continent!
Sorry to say that, but its true.
Any European who played DAoC could of told you that.
GOA is terrible, buy US version.
Not to forget as when you buy US version, you're paying retail/monthly fee on dollars so you actually save money
I would rather know that I had made a mistake than be forever ignorant. How else would you learn to improve your linguistic abilities?
I'm old enough to recognise that there's things I'll never improve with. You may even say I've settled with where I am and given up trying to get better at them. This includes languages (also my own, sadly enough), swimming, dancing and solving rubric cubes. Everything else I take comfort in being absolutely awesome at.
It'll be interesting to see how close GOA manges to get 1.0.5 to the US patch day. They've been taking flak since release now, and with this being patch of the bigger ones down the road it'll be a good indicator for us of what sort of attitude to expect from them with future big changes. While the US plays around with it in the test server, they should have ample time to get it translated.
I wouldn't be surprised if you could pick up a lot of bad habits without even knowing you were doing so. Good habits adversely require positive effort to maintain. If I was a student of the arts then I would make it my business to acquire that skill. Even though I'm not I still have an healthy interest in correcting my own mistakes. I agree it is rare to find mistakes in the published word.
It just proves how easy to entertain Americans are. =P *ducks*
