Raid content question

TorakTorak Member Posts: 4,905

Ok, its hard to ignore all the WoW hysteria thats going on...

I played it at launch for about 6 or 8 months. Always thought it was a decent game but moved on. Not a bad run IMHO.

Well I know the game has changed a lot in that time. Last time I played they were just putting in the battlegrounds and 40 man raids were all the rage.

What I'm wondering is this.

What happened to all the raid content from the old level cap (60) and what is going to happen to all of the content from the Burning Crusade?

I don't quite get how they are handling this. Does it all just end up getting bypassed? I mean whatever happened to places like Molten Core or Onyxia? Do people still do this content?

They are still there, albeit twicked down, so they should feel easier for people going there. The achievement farming means that there should be at least one raid going to all these instances of old by those looking for completeness with old and slightly newer characters.

But yes, these instances were end game material at the time. Onyxia can be 5-manned for example when you needed 40 men back then. People rush to the end game and play the raid instances there, it was true for the last expansion and I'm sure it'll be repeated on the new one.

They slashed the difficulty by about 30% across all raids so that everyone can get a chance to try it out before WotlK ships. Yes a lot of people will moan that this is catering to the casual, but being casual myself, I love it.

The hardcore raid guilds still have the pride of knowing they cleared a dungeon back in the day, and have had their gear long enough to make it worthwhile before the expansion reset. Now the rest of us can give it a try. Sure it's pretty much worthless now, but I'm having a whale of a time 4-manning Karazhan with my guildies that would otherwise never get to see this kind of content.

The redid the old 40 man content so that it didnt require so many players. The old content didnt have the numbers to form a 40 man raid. I dont expect a lot of changes to TBC since 5-10 is reasonable even after everyone leaves to Northrend
