Dual Core Support...?!

ArchidArchid Member UncommonPosts: 210

Hi, has anyone else checked your processor usage while you play EQ2 ? I recently noticed that the dual core support wont work at all.. now is this some short of a joke? You have the option in the game for nothing?

The usage is only on the other core, the peak is like maxed and the other core's peak is almost lowest.

I got the game running fine with eccoton's help. But still geez... adding something in the game that wont work? Seriously, do they even know this or have they even tested it? Or did they just add text and check box in the options for fun? I so try to enjoy the game but i cant because of the flaws the devs made in the first place.

Update!

Ok, i dont understand this but it started to work when i disabled it and after that turned it on... wierd. Still it doenst help too much.

EQ2 only uses single core because when it was made that is what was out for processors. Pentium and AMD were going for faster chips single core at that time. So the code is made for just one core. And seeing as i dont have a problem with running eq2 and alot of gamers who play it also don't from what i understand SOE doesnt feel it needs to update the code.

Make sure the option is checked in the in-game settings to utilize both cores.

Let me guess, you also expect your game's launch to be flawless?

*rolls eyes* The game has multicore support now as per the last update. If you're having a problem with it, then address it where it belongs... to SOE. Post it on the forums, send in a bug report, or even call soe on the phone. Posting about it here is a waste of time because no one that matters will see it.
