i'm 19, an adult.. very much a kid at heart. I like mid-evil setting, maybe sci-fi? not sure.
I recently quit WoW.. hopefully for good. I absolutely hate it's community.
i'm not looking for the "next biggest thing" I got into wow because I was a fan of warcraft, namely the 2nd one
i'm considering getting into another mmo, but don't want it to consume me, or have to completely consume me to enjoy it and compete.
I don't have alot of money right now.. so f2p would be really nice, but I find it extremely aggitating seeing players able to gain advantages in-game with their real world $.(I guess this is kind of unstoppable =/
I basically suck at life in game and out. but still enjoy a challenge, I used to play runescape and considered going back but thought otherwise remembering it's god-awful combat system in comparison to wow.. not to mention EXTREME repitition.. boring!
RS and WoW are the only mmo's i've really played other then the first 20 or so levels of SWG
with that said I like PVP alot, and I like some pve but repetitiveness is.. LAME! it has to have a story good enough to get me into it.. I see alot of quests as "go kill meh sum 10 borz lulz.. I get bored easy and grinding is boring as fuck(as mentioned above with RS)
whatamitodo?

Mabinogi - Simular to runescape (do whatever you want, level whatever skills you want), cute anime style, aging characters, musical composition skills, a good community, a game where you can login and do jack all, grind dungeons, party up, quest, or take part in the awesome storyline quests. This games fighting system is particularly fun, as you can easily die in one or two hits, so you must counter every one of your opponents abilities to prevail. This game is technically free, however- if you get into it, you'll definately want to pay for premium features such as rebirthing in time. I suggest you give it a try. http://mabinogi.nexon.net
This is coming from an ex WoW: pre-BC (1 year) and RSC (3 years) player.
Ragnarok held my interest for a year or so as well. Ragnarok has nice character skills and lots of build varieties.
Flyff held my interest for 2 weeks or so, it has flying, a typical grind with decent graphics, and a nice pvp system (switch channels and its FFA everywhere.)
If you want an good FFA pvp game, wait for Darkfall, it looks like it'll be an interesting gamble. It's like WoW, but FPS, FFA pvp everywhere, player owned/built cities, and naval wars etc. No levels. Supposed to be released by the end of 08'.
Right now I'm playing Mabinogi, with breaks where I play warcraft 3, or diablo 2. Good luck finding your game.
Every MMO has some type of grinding whether it's quests or mob. With that being said I suggest trying Shaiya. You can pvp from level one and you can get experience from pvp. Upon making your character I don't suggest choosing the Very Hard mode option as it has permanent death.

wow hmm yes darkfall does seem rather intriguing, although I don't have a computer that will run it correctly i'm afraid =/
Might I suggest Atlantica Online. It's totally free, if you do come into some money you can buy items from the item mall, but you can easily play the game without ever spending a dime. It is a very competative mmo in the market (currently ranked #2 on this site's list), it's easily better than alot of P2P mmos. I also used to play WoW and switched to this game when open beta started. It is very different than other MMOs since battle is turn-based, and you actually have to think while fighting. I was very tired of WoW and button mashing mmos. Atlantica Online definitly isn't like that. It has very nice graphics, community, and crafting system. Many people will help you out for free and give you free items. You can also craft almost every single piece of equipment in the game except for a few weapons. Very well done game, hope to see you ingame soon

Not consumed = epic PvP fail...so sooorrry for you. I'd say come on over to Eve but that's a real PvPers game.
{ Mod Edit }
well excuse me for wanting to keep my life outside of MMO
Grow up.. I am looking for a GAME, not something to swallow my life.
REAL pvpers.. lmao this kid cracks me up.
I guess i'm a fake pvper.
I wasn't to into it, until I tried it as well. I didn't think that a turn-based MMORPG that I would like could even be made. I was proven wrong after trying it, The battle system is pretty fast paced, which I like, and it makes you think (which I also like). You don't stand infront of a monster and spam sunder armor and provoke a hundred times like in WoW hehe .
eh ok I will give it a shot.
wait it's in beta?
No it was released on Oct 30
Nope, it says final on the MMORPG.com page. Anyways even if it is they said they won't be doing a character wipe after release.

Try Guildwars. While it do cost money to get it, it have no monthly fees. It have no item shop or other crap like all F2P games have, and it got the best PvP I seen (the best player wins, not the one with the best gear). It is a very nice game and shoul at least have you captured for a few months Also GW looks better than any F2P game I seen.
Someone talked about Atlantica, tried it but it was really not my cup of tea.The turn based combat felt more like Suikoden then the turn based combat from classic games like "Pool of radience" and "Death knights of Krynn". To simple and boring.
If you want F2P, wait until "Runes of magic" comes out in december, it is the only decent F2P game I seen. Ryzom and "Granado espada" are also at least worth a look.
