Are you for real? You could think after the more than 17 minutes gameplayvideo, after confirming that the closed beta with external players is already going,
No sorry. There is NO confirmation (beyond the devs own words which are totally meaningless) that there is any kind of closed beta going on.
If there really was a Beta with real people from the public playing then there would be leaks all over the net about it. There has not been 1 single person that has said or posted any kind of screenshots of being in any kind of Beta.

The beta testers are too loyal
The beta testers are too busy playing
Its part of the NDA that you cant admit to being in beta.
But I have yet to come across a game that hasnt had leaks during beta.
Aion ofc, i don't think we see Darkfall anytime soon.
Based on the producers own words -----> Darkfall is Beta ready, Feature complete, and will be launching before the end of Dec 31 2008. But yet for some strange reason there's no way for anyone to log into it and play test this beta ready, feature complete and commercially ready game right now with about 6 weeks left to a launch.
Give me a fucken break. Darkfall could not be a bigger joke. It's the poster child of vaporware.
Lets be honest. Darkfall gets a lot of followers because of it's refreshing choice of system, the problem is the actual game and it's quality might inevitably not deliver. Aion I think has a number more developers than darkfall and has been in proper development for quite a while. It should be pretty good.
Darkfall, tho I will try Aion.

Well, one thing is certain in this thread- you can definetly tell who has succombed to the holy word of Tasos. I personally might get more into Darkfall, if it were real. The few reports that have been released lately, really don't lend itself to proving that it will be released in a month with everything polished- as Tasos (read Tacos) has bragged. I'm sorry, but the cult is in for a rude awakening when there is nothing to log into by January, and those that do are redirected to a free online version of Mario Bros Classic.

That about says it for me. Aion appears to be a very slickly produced version of what we've been getting for the last five years. With flying asian fag elves sporting giant swords thrown into the mix to spice things up. However I'm still supremely skeptical Darkfall even exists, let alone whether it's going to release anytime soon if it does.
But if we're just comparing announced features for the fun of it - it's no contest. Darkfall.
I might try Darkfall or I might not. It depends on how it fleshes out. I don't think I will try AION. It has nice graphics, but I dislike the style. But maybe I will change my mind. Problem is I can only decide when these games are out and can be played, only then I will be able to form an idea about how these games turn out to be. It is all unclear at the moment.
I will definitely try The Chronicles of Spellborn. However, I cannot know whether it will be any better than the above named games. I really cannot. I can only say I will enjoy playing Spellborn for some time for sure.
So, no vote from me on this poll.

I agree. Fine, TenSpotting, you don't believe beta is there and you don't believe there can be one without leaks (possible explanation: They haven't invited that many testers, they have a pretty scarry NDA and they had a little luck - and they invited only people who really want to play the game and wouldn't risk beeing kicked out of beta), but the video where Darkfall is beeing played live infront of a public audience is there and so is the 17 minutes gameplay trailer.
Also, why would they lie to us? There's no reason, they're not even offering pre-orders (which they definitly would if they tried to scam us). Maybe betaleaks.com beeing offline for the last weeks has also a little bit to do with it.
Anyway, just wait and see; few weeks from now and you're in for a big suprise

Not one. Guess how much Blizz invested in the further development of Wow/Wotlk over the past 3 years: exactly 200 million dollars.
Now dream on.
But not all think it's good invested money.

If you had a business...and you had invested millions and millions of dollars in the business..and this had been going on for over seven years...and you certainly had hopes of not only getting your money back but making a substantial amount more.Then you announced you would start selling the game in a month or so...why would you not have every influential mmog site getting exposed to, and publicizing your game to maximize trial and awareness ? If you were pround..excited and wanted to recoup the very significant investment...why be so removed from entities who could help your business?Thats what's so hard for me to understand about the management of Darkfall.Nope...being small doesn't work at this stage of its development.
I am interested in both games...but AION for me is real...Darkfall is still words.
Sorry to bring you the news, but WoW sucks. But if you have fun doing your "dailies" day in day out and "grinding" in PvP Arenas, have fun. Alot of players look for a little more though.
Aion 61.5%, Darkfall 38.5% right now... soon the hordes of Darkfall fanatics will arrive to change that.
Most Gamers see Darkfall as a joke atm ("LOL VAPORWARE" seems to be "kewl" these days). Bringing them to the attention of major sites/magazines would just give them reviews and alot of potential players would "jump on the train" and probably, no matter how good the game is, never play it.
However, if they start the hyping when they have an open beta with alot of testers or even the released game, reviews will probably be very positive and they might get alot more players. Also, it's about credibility: A company speaks (understandable) always good about its products. But if a player who doesn't get paid for it tells you a game is good and you should try it - you would probably rather believe him than the company that HAS TO tell you its game is awesome.
I'm waiting for Aion. I'll try Darkfall if it does come out, but to be honest, I'm not into the art direction at all. Granted that gameplay is key, but even so, the art direction and overall design of a game can be another form of immersion. For me personally, I have a hard time enjoying a game when I don't like what I see (visually). Some people don't like games that have a more Asian design like Aion, but for me, I just cant get into the uninspiring generic fantasy setting that I've seen time and time again.
If Darkfall turns out not to be complete crap then I would play that most likely for a long time despite its god awful community.
However right now I think Darkfall will release as a bug infested game, with tons of promised content missing or implemented so badly they should not of bothered with it, will have and does have a terrible community, judging by their inability to make simple quality updates on their game I am led to believe it will also suffer from horrible support, due to the time it has taken to make the game I reckon they will take longer than Blizzard to release content but without the polish to justify it and generally I just do not see this game ever being any good.
I really have no faith in the developers of Darkfall to make a good game, nor to support that game after they have released it. Somehow I really doubt I will be proven wrong any time soon by them, although it would be great if they proved everyone wrong and released a good niche game.
As for Aion, it isn’t my thing so even if it was the best game of its particular target audience I would not play it. NCsoft for the few games I have played by them usually release reasonably good games so I am sure whatever they make will be a good game just not my thing.
Im in the Aion OB and I can say I won't be looking for another game for a pair of years at least.

Hmmm lets see, pick between a Sandbox FFA pvp game or a linear pve focused game.

Well for me, the original UO was my favorite game. The sandbox aspect it was built on, made for endless gameplay. So logically you would think that Darkfall would be my choice. Well after years of lies and deceit from Adventurine, I find I am highly skeptical that Darkfall will be anything other than a rough cut piece of quartz. While Aion, even with it;s eastern slant will be far more polished and you can fly.
same. AION is awesome despite the fact that im playing in korean.
ive played many mmos WoW,shaiya,PW,Eve,Archlord,Rf,LOTRO,GW....... list goes on.
and i have to say AION sure as hell will keep me busy for a long time. its just so beautifully build, alot of thought has gone into it over its years of developing. im not going to go on about it as you can all go to the aion section and read the posts there.
As for Darkfall, i had a loog at it, read about it tried to get as much info as possible on it, but nothing really captured my interest. i just couldnt understand why people were going on about this game and what made it so worth looking at.And i guess i never will. i dont intend playing it.
Oh and as for the people who say blah blah blah grinding blah blah asian blah blah blah
Every mmo has an element of grinding. be it disguised under quests of *go east and kill noobs for 50 noob powder* really i wish people would see that you are actually grinding just in your mind you believe your questing.
and aion seems just as grindy as WoW.
ill look at darkfall every so often to see if anything seems to change my mind, but ill 200% be playing aion and 0.001% even test darkfall
How can you ask other people to vote on your poll when you do not, imo this is a pointless poll until both games hit the streets if they infact do at all...!
