Gear color and function will change as you lvl and you have little control over the color.

If you check out Thottbot.com and scroll through the tailoring receipes you see a variety of items. Many of these items can be colored (some cannot). Which item you wear at which lvl will be dictated by your lvl and item availability. Most items have a minimum required lvl just to equip. Then can you or someone find the pattern to make that item. Next, what color dye does it require? It is not always possible to find an item colored a specific color that is effective at every lvl.

I wear the best gear I can find/buy/quest/tailor, no matter what color it is. These items are quickly replaced as soon as something better comes along.

Robes (chest equiped) will cover whatever you wear in your leg slot, however anything else you wear will not. Thus showing us what type of pants you are wearing <evil grin>.

Note: Staffs are normally 2h weapons and you can't have anything in your offhand. However, it appears that anyone can also equip a wand. Wands are manaless weapons with a visible graphic. I guess they might hang on your belt until you actually use it.

Note: Server. Currently I play on the Beta server (which is PvE), I would like to play on the PvP server, but not until Blizzard decides on a ruleset. Then I'll have to decide where to spend my time

Note: Mounts cost money and skill points. Money to buy and skill points to learn how to use. The racial mount for your race cost you less than if you bought some other race mount. Thus, as a dwarf, it will cost me less to buy my racial mount. Or the Ram. Besides, I think dwarves look kewl on the Rams.
