AoC or EQ 2?

I have a level 78 Troubadour on the Butcherblock server in EQ 2 and am looking to start playing again but am concerned about the rumors of lack of active players. So I was wondering should I start anew in Age of Conan or continue in EQ 2.

(I also played and loved EQ 1, 65 druid, if that helps at all)

I would appreciate any insight, advice, or opinions you may have.

If a lack of players is your issue you certainly don't want to join AOC as you'll only find more of the same.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

having played both, i would recommend EQ2 over AoC. Infinitely more content in EQ2, and it looks pretty darn sweet

Is their a lack in players in Everquest 2? (specifically Butcherblock) And how would I found out that without buying a month subscription?

I'd suggest posting on the EQ2 forums here directly asking how the population is on that server. Also stop making multipul threads about this. It's better to just make one thread and add questions to it than making four different ones.  /bonk

If I remember correctly, Butherblock is one of the heavier servers. With the new expansion comming out being most group content for level 50-80, you should have no problems finding groups.

I have not played Aoc, so won't comment on it. But EQ2 is doing just fine. I play on Oasis which is not as populated as butherblock and I have no problems finding groups at the higher levels.

So good luck in either game you choose.

    WoW, play a druid.

Go resto and heal a raid, go feral and tank 5 mans, go balanced and nuke.

I agree with the EQ2 suggestion.  I haven't played AoC since closed beta, but from what I hear it isn't doing so well, and it was poo on toast at release.  I personally think EQ2 looks better as well, but I think I'm in the minority with that opinion.

Yes EQ2 for sure.  there is so much content in this game that you wouldn't run out of things to do even if you are a hardcore gamer. This game will keep you busy for a year or two.

I'd say EQ2 to go along with the others, AoC imo isn't horrible, but check back with it after a couple months if you find EQ2 not to your liking anymore, AoC still needs polish, whereas EQ2 has it all done.

I have played AoC much mroe than EQ2. Comparing the two is just wrong and if you do I would say AoC are miles ahead. AoC just have so much higher quality content.

EQ2 is having new content released very soon (its on the Home page here in the box news thingy) so it may be worth reading up on. AoC is still kinda green at the moment but may be better down the line. (its kinda in trouble atm).

I believe youll have far more grouping opportunities in EQ2 (had an Inquistor on BB)than AoC right now if thats what your after.

Were you looking for raiding/endgame content NOW or down the line? If now, go EQ2, down the line.. wait and see if AoC has more subs and high level content. Didn't have that at launch.

    Happy gaming!

Remember there are bargains to be had in terms of box puchase out there with AoC (like any other game) it comes with 30 days free too. If you like dungeons AoC has some extra high level content coming in the next few months.

No need to be rude, your point come across and we all understand. Yes I agree EQ2 has lots of content, but it does not hold same quality as AoC. There is simply no MMo out there that match AoC graphics, atmosphere, Mob AI, combat AoE system, Fatalities, Quest Storylines, Combat etc etc  and all that other stuff I could keep listing. This is what I mean when I say AoC is better. You see when all of the above is in place, every expansion will just keep taking AoC to another level. EQ 2 just stays the same.

lol. So applyinge your logic I guess we could say PackeMan Ultimate (with more than 400 levels) is muche better than EQ2 and AoC.lol. Crappy contente is not worth shit.

I like thigh quality AoC content. Quality above quantity.

Sounds like a commersial tbh. Rofl, made me laugh bigtime.

And no. Don't go wow, stick with Eq2. Personally it has the best Community ive seen (except for Pre-nge swg and Iro)

And what is this rabbeling about no content in Eq2? Im like level 40 and have seen more content and deph in this game than any other mmo ive played. Sure, Aoc has the graphics and fatalities. But ive heard so much more crap about that game. And the graphs in Eq2 is pretty good if you know how to tweak. But for all means, those who prefer aoc over Eq2 aren't mature mentally enough to bother with a game like Eq2. :p

EQ2 beats AoC. But if you want to try AoC just to see what it's like then only do it for a month because it just feels liek a single player game and not really worth paying for it. While EQ2 is a pretty good game over all. There is lots of end game stuff to do if you are in a good guild etc.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

I would personally recommend EQ2 over AoC, no question. When EQ2 first released opposite WoW, it was actually in poor shape, suffering from some pretty glaring performance issues, but they have done some miraculous things since then and really polished it to where it should be. They really poured a ton of effort into fixing all the release issues and it shows. I haven't seen nearly the same effort and care being put into AoC, which except for some very small insignificant changes, still is the same poorly designed game that it was at release. In some ways its actually gotten a lot worse, because the AoC servers are deader then ever, and problems become more obvious. All of EQ2's biggest issues are fixed, where none of AoC's are, so honestly I could not really recommend AoC to anyone. Maybe a year or two down the road though, who knows, maybe by then Funcom will get around to implementing the features they have printed on the box.

You have no idea what you are posting about. AoC has so absolutely no performance issues any more. What are you talking about when you say FC has not delivered whats printed on the box. Much more than what was printed on the box has made it in game. Consequence PvP and the new zone Ymirs pass is some of the extra content.

They both suck and are dying or dead end MMOs.   So flip a coin, its lose/lose.
