Citizens of Egypt,

As I write this, the final monument has been completed in our
first Tale in the Desert. By the time you read this, the last
bonfires will have been lit, the last fireworks launched, the final
goodbyes said. When I think back on all that has happened in the
game in the last 18 months, I can't think of a better word to
describe it than "Tale."

...The first laws that tried to come to grasp with how we treat
those whos fun is to annoy others
...the age of large guilds
...the rise of Egypt's research and meta-guilds
...the transformation of our economy from barter to regional
currencies
...The Stranger's bold entrance with offers of wonderous
technology
...and the subsequent upheaval: A week without wood!
...the nightmare of Speed of the Serpent
...the final push to the monuments

And now, the final chapter in our first Tale in the Desert has
come to a close. After 1.9 million hours collectively spent building
this civilization, after inventing challenges in the form of seven
new Tests, we call on the next generation:

A Tale in the Desert II will launch on Friday, 12:00 Noon EDT
(GMT-0400).

Want to make your mark as an architect? While our first Tale was
spent in a purely rural setting, Tale 2 has opportunities to build
real cities, without restrictions on crowding.
Like to explore? Travel is faster all around, with additional
boosts on roads and for accomplishing a multitude of challenges. The
foliage in the game is beautiful - hundreds of species of plants
decorate Egypt's many oases, palm trees blow in the breeze, and rare
herbs are rumored to exist in some of Egypt's hidden corners.
Want to try your hand as a blacksmith? You've never seen anything
like ATITD's anvils. Raw iron reacts to each hammer blow using a
physics simulation. With the perfect touch, you can create the
finest tools in the land.
Maybe politics is your forte. With the new legal system you can
create a grassroots movement, or spearhead a one-man crusade.
Think you can leave your mark? It's going to be quite a Tale.

This email is going to those people that registered for the A Tale
in the Desert mailing list. If you've never heard of ATITD and
you're on this list, then we screwed up and you can write me a nasty
letter and clog my inbox. You can remove yourself from the list
