I have more than that on the torrent, the problem is that I cant get it started, neither Firefox nor explorer want to open it (and it was 45 mins to start the download anyways).

Is it possible that the message in red above is a European beta? And that they're having an American beta too with a different time line to match the different release date? I don't know because I haven't followed this game as much. It does seem weird though that they'd have a beta contest one day before the beta is over.
That's a bit of a bugger, but with over 28 hours until then, there's plenty of time for people to see what the game's like, and let's be honest, that's what voluntary testing is all about these days. Of course, there will be open beta soon anyway (I'd imagine).
With regards to fileplanet, I've been a premium member for years and most of the time I get download speeds in excess of 1 MB/s, but for TCoS, after trying every server available, the best I could get was 80 KB/s, so I found the torrent and got almost 2 MB/s. My point is that sometimes fileplanet is great, and other times it's complete shite, and there's no pattern to it. If only more people understood bittorrent (specifically that the higher your upload is, the faster your download will be) then the internet would be a lot faster, and moneygrabbing sites like fileplanet would become a bitter memory.

Odd... I'm using a fileplanet subscriber account, selected the "fasted download" option, and I'm getting about 5 Mbit at the moment. Total download time from start to finish will amount to about 60-90 minutes. I searched for a bittorrent but couldn't find one... but I'm almost done with the DL so I'll just hang on...

At the time I posted that, the connection between my computer room in Eastern England and their servers based in various location in the US (though incidentally all funnelled through the same place in New Jersey) was crap. Their UK based server didn't respond for over a minute, so I gave up on it.
Without going too technical, direct downloads (such as from fileplanet) can vary greatly depending on your route to their server. With bittorrent, you're grabbing parts of the file from all over the world, thus increasing the chances of getting a good connection.
Oh, and when searching for torrents, the biggest database is to be found at { Mod Edit }

Second, I wanna say I'm disapointed, a lot, I went to this site, I got the beta and all, I thought AWESOME! TCOS Beta there I go. This was yesterday at the evening, gmt+1 time. I started the fileplanet download yesterday night and this morning I found it had an error and to make it worse the beta is finishing today.
Why the hell they give you a beta invite for a 1 day beta. This hurts more than it helps, Im really thinking about not giving it a go when it comes out on 27 cose of that. What am I supossed to test in 1 day?. No I'm not going to "rush" a download stay all the day trying to set it up, install, wait for pachting and all to play, may be, 1 or 2 hours. This is not the way to make a promotion or a closed beta, cose, to be fair, I dont think they want me to beta test nothing in 1 day, this is not a closed beta is a promotion, a bad one in my opinion.

This wasn't a promotion. It was a fellow gamer finding a site that still had beta invites and gave people who wanted a chance to play, a chance to play. Many people wanted in on this game to check it out, but with the beta ending somewhat before we expected, they didn't get in to the European beta. At the moment, nobody knows anything about the NA beta, so really the OP did people a huge favor. Don't get upset at the game because you didn't read the post saying beta was ending today.

I logged in about 30minutes ago, started creating a new character and got Disconnected half way through. Not sure if the server is down or if they have started IP blocking people. Since this beta is for EU, only certain countries have access to it.
Yeah, either the server's down or Americans got the boot. I played last night, can't log in today - it doesn't recognize my account information, and then when I go to the player account link it directs me to the American website.
What i recall the beta starts the 22nd which is tomorrow, (just going with my Gmt+1 time) So yeah, for all europeans i guess we have to wait until tomorrow. And finally i can see the game with my own eyes

Closed beta is finishing today, not beta. Or actually, the closing event for closed beta will be tonight.
