So I was driving around with ym buddies tonight kinda bored nothing to do about to go home, and out of no where i see police lights... The pig yes pig walks up to my car and askes me do you no why i pulled you over? No officer i replied. Whell you ran a red light back there. (The light was 6 blocks away from where i was. not only that it took him 5 minutes before he actually found me to pull me over.) Ok? So i give him license and registration and insurance card. I didnt think anything of it i wasnt goin to argue this is my first offense and ive been driving for 4 years now.
So im sitting in my car bullshitting with my friends waiting for the pig to run my name see how i have been no warrants yadda yadda yadda. He comes back and hands me a ticket. I sed so i dont even get a warning since this is the first time ever being pulled over? He says no. Then i sed u do realize were in a bad economy with Xmas coming up, and your giving me a ticket for 110$ for goin under a yellow light while the car RIGHT next to me went threw it and had there headlights off and went threw also(Let me remind you its dark outside). The answer i got back made me so god damn pissed off i felt like punching this asshole in his face..... Well i couldnt find them i found u......
Can these assholes does this shit? Should i fight it or just shutup and take it like a man? and if i do how much will my insurance go up if i do?
P.S. i have nothing against cops i want to be a cop. Its just this asshole pig was a fuckin prick who wrote me a ticket for something that should have only been a warning, because not only was it a first offense but the light was also yellow. Please share some isnight or similar stories.

Remember that cops are just normal people with a uniform and special powers, they're just like any other asshole, I got arrested the other night for public nuisance or some nonsense.. to cut a long story short I was fortunate and got away with a warning since it was the first time I had been fucked by the long dick of the law. But I still remember how bizarre it was sitting in the station listening to them goof off and talk crap, first thing I thought was these guys remind me of your average co-workers.

Its all about revenue generation. Enjoy that sweet new police cruiser with all the bells and whistles? Like laptops and satelite broadband on the road? Arn't those leather seats comfy officer? That all costs money. Congradulations, you just received your bill. They have badges and guns. So if you don't like it, a swat team will drop by your house and blow your head off. Got it?
Heck the cops in my area are always pulling people over. I see minivans and the Honda with fartpipes being pulled over the most. They never seem to go after the people who have one burned out head light or drive around at night without both head lights on.
You think that ticket is bad, try getting caught doing 83 in a 50. I had to get a lawyer (cost 1000) and goto court. He got it reduced to speeding and a 130.00 fine.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
I'm not about to "assume" anything here, but here's some advice.
When you get pulled, there is a certain behavior you must maintain, despite how you might feel at the moment.
1. When you see the blue lights, turn on your turn signal, slow down, and prepare to move off the road to stop. Preferrably do this in a lighted area (mostly for females). As long as you don't do anything stupid, you should be fine, and can look for a good area to pull off on.
2. When you stop, roll your window down, and turn your car OFF. This also includes your stereo.
3. Place both hands on the steering wheel. Imagine yourself in the cop's shoes, having to walk up to the window of a stranger that you know is pissed off beyond belief. He doesn't know what to expect, and must expect the worst. Having both of your hands in plain sight, helps them to feel at ease.
4. When he asks for your license, registration, etc. You reply with "Yes sir". Demeaning to you perhaps, but it's much more professional than "Ya, whateva dog".
5. Attitude is a HUGE part of this. You don't have to act all happy, but you probably don't want to act pissed off either. Just be professional. If your friends are in the car, and laughing, or cutting up, then you need to put a stop to it.
6. Don't be a smartass.
Now for my short story. When I started driving at 16, I got so many tickets I thought my parents were going to really kill me. One time, I got pulled twice in the same night, by the same cop! I lost count how many I got, but I'd say it was at least in the teens.
Today, I have a clean record. I have been pulled a couple times in the past few years, but I always seem to get away with a warning. Why? I'm not sure. Perhaps becase I try to be courteous and professional.
I've never received a ticket when I was driving alone.
Every time I've been pulled over with passengers, I've been ticketed.
I think cops are much more lenient when there are no witnesses.
One time i was speeding in my town, i heard someone scream yo so i stopped at the stop sign coming up looked behind me and there was just a man walking his dog so i kept driving. Three days later a cop shows up at my door asking if i drive that car (pointing at the car in the driveway) so i say yes and he responds telling me to go inside and get my liscence, so i go inside get it and give it to him. He then walks over to his car and starts writing out a ticket ... at this point im like wtf and he asks me do you know why your getting this and i reply i have no idea so he goes on to tell me "remember a couple days ago you were speeding down that one street and you heard someone scream yo? well that was me" he handed me the ticket and told me not to do it again. The sad part is it was perfectly legal to give me that ticket. Luckily i knew people and knew people that knew people and ended up getting the ticket downgraded to disruption or traffic or something like that.
Anyway I would say go fight it... im not sure about your state but in NJ when you go to court to fight the ticket you go into the prosecutors office and they will try to bargain with you, lets say you got careless driving which is an $85.00 fine and two points, they will propose an excessivly large fine like $450.00 and no points which in the long run will save you money on insurance, but the catch is you can only do this twice in 5 years. If you know someone there they can and will have the ticket fine lowered substancially. This is what happened when i got the ticket for the strory above, since the police had no way of telling how fast i was going because he was off duty he just gave me a careless driving ticket, i ended up going to court to fight it and yes they first proposed a $450 fine but since i knew one of the people there he was sortof like i know him hes a good guy or w/e so they ended up giving me a friends and family discount which lowered the ticket to $120 i believe, then as im waiting i knew one of the police officers at the station so he took the ticket went somewhere and got the ticket down to disruption of flow f traffic which is a $50 fine and $33 in court fees making the total i had to pay $85.
So in the end its not what you know its who you know....
so did you run the redlight or not? That is the only question that should be asked. If you did, you have no right to complain about getting a ticket. Don't worry about what other people did.
Exactly! I always ask people complaining about a ticket "so, were you speeding?" " Ya but....."
I have found cops to be very leanient. I slid through an 4 way interwsection with a cop sitting right there. Hehe. I pulled over before he even moved. He asked if I knew why I was pulled over and I said. "yes sir, because I went through that red light right in front of you." He just gave me a warning.
I had glasspacs on car when I was a teen and got pulled over several times. Best thing is not to draw attention to yourself and follow traffic laws.
Europe is much worse. 1 Klick over the speed limit and "Flash" ticket is in the mail...thank you. I do wish the US would take the idea of traffic circles and less traffic signs from Europe though.
I've been pulled over once, got one ticket.
My sister has been pulled over no less than 6 times...no tickets.
I wish I was a girl sometimes, it would be much cheaper
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
I've found turning your interior light on if it's night helps as well.
On a side note.....I got hit one time by someone running a red light and that wasn't very fun either.
Every ticket I every recieved was earned by my own actions. It sounds like the OP earned his too.
It was more or less one of those the light was yellow at the stop line red when i was under it. Its not the fact of this was my first time. Its more or less the light wasnt red before the stop line. (the white line before a stop lite)And that the people next to me had 6 people in a 2 door car without there lights on. I just see it as some bullshit that i got stiffed because im the one he "found".

From my experience police will do anything to make your day worse. Even saying "If you didnt lie i would of let you go" Bullshit
Ive been pulled over for doing 87 in a 60
Ive been pulled over for not having my headlights on which ended up in a DUI ( I blew a fucking .05)
Ive had the cops called on me by my parents.
They dont want to make your day better
And you'd have your own sent of boobs. Just think of all the fun you'd have
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Since I stopped speeding I've only got one ticket. It was also for "disobeying a signal." (running a yellow light which I would have had to slam on the brakes to stop for at 3am-ish when no one was around except the cop)
They have ticket quotas despite what the brass says.
im not sure if the law is any different where you live, but in AZ, if your car passed the pedestrian line(or w.e its called) while the light was yellow, you shouldnt get a ticket. If you went through the traffic light while it was yellow then i can see why you were upset.

Most cops know what people think of them.
If you wanted a warning there is a protocol to follow.
1.When cop approaches door BOTH hands on the wheel.
2.Answer all questions with respect.
3.Give all id NO questions asked.
4.Wow i didnt realize i had run that.My bad TOTALLY ill try to pay atttention next time.Im a fairly new driver and all my buddies were talking i guess i wasnt paying attention.Think you could give me a warning?(in other words admit guilt).
5.No negative thoughts during this.Dont even think of calling him a pig.
6.Remember that cops have heard it all so dont think your smarter.
7.NEVER argue anything. That remark about the economy?Gimme a break like he isnt feeling it either? He might have kids your age as well.
8.Remember that a cop ALONE in the field is more independent than a cop with a partner and can make command decisions you just need to give hin that chance.
Usually when it takes that amount of time to pull a person over several factors go into it.
1.A car full of people.
2.Running a license plate check because the car is full of people.
3.He is alone so hes playing it safe and making sure the car isnt stolen.
Fight it if you want but its even worse in front of a judge.A judge can make you pay a bigger fine on a bad mood day.
What is your physical limit?

Only a $100 fine for running a red light? Man you got it cheap. Here in California I got several tickets
Red Light = $585
Speeding (20 over) = $525
Speeding (10 over) = $225
Wheel not cramped on a hill = $58
Wow...So not only did you ADMIT to it, but you then proceeded to make a lame excuse more or less saying you're broke? Oh c'mon. Any cop will look at you...Write you a ticket, and laugh as he's walking away.
Your biggest problem was openly admitting to it. You can still offer your apologies, but not admit guilt. I did that with an improperly stopping at a stop sign. Although I was genuinely baffled. Pulled over. Asks for my crap, as i'm collecting it, I ask him whats up. He tells me. I tell him that I'm not sure what he's talking about. He tries to explain where, I try to think about it, still have no idea what he's talking about. I tell him that, and apologize, but was pretty much, "I'm sorry if I did. But I honestly don't remember it at all". Verbal warning. On my way. Worked another time when I was going 55 in a 40. And two other times at stop signals.
Yah...I get pulled over alot.

I stopped caring as soon as you said 'pig', because it's obvious you don't respect these people for the job they do.
But as for this quote.. Running yellows when they're about to change red is a chance you are taking. That means that there was adequate enough time before that to stop, because the yellow had been there, and you knowingly saw it and went anyways. Just because someone else was breaking the law, doesn't make you exempt from the penalty of breaking the law yourself.
You're welcome to fight it, but the only way I see you winning is if the cop doesn't show up for the court case, which happens often enough I suppose. Regardless of if there were other people breaking the law, -you- still broke the law, and it was in his legal right to stop you.
you guys don't have any idea on how strict the cops back at our place. they are the worst public servants ever! they are corrupted and they exploit each and every situation just to put you in a hole wherein you can't save yoursalfe. curse them! argh!
