After watching the latest videos and reading the most recent updates and reviews, I'm curious to know what it is that everyone is really expecting.
Half of the community here seems to think they've made a whole host of promises and haven't made any effort to highlight any of them, and the other half talk about amazing features that I haven't seen mentioned in any of the information on the company web pages.
If I had to stop and really look at all the data they've put out just over the past year, these are the features I'd have to say they're claiming...
1. No load screens or instances
2. Open PvP with a racial alignment penalty
3. A full looting system for PvP and PvE
4. Six playable races with three starting locations each
5. Player built and controlled cities that can be sieged and captured
6. A crafting system that lets players build most items already in the game world
7. FPS style gameplay with a strong "twitch" element
8. NPC Bots that conduct reasonably sound tactical manuvers in most situations
9. Servers that can hold up to a max load of 10,000 people total with a max of roughly 400 active players in a given zone
10. Naval, siege engine, and mounted combat that is fully integrated into the general combat system
11. A weather system that can influence visibility and audio quality
12. Dynamic shadows and lighting
...maybe I'm missing something but these seem to me like the only major game systems they've promised. Granted this combination of systems, if done well, is more than sufficient to build a political / economic sandbox style game that might even rival EVE, and that sort of play is somewhat revolutionary in a fantasy MMO, but I digress...
Of those features, they've shown video and screen shots of everything but the crafting system, the server loads, and the weather system.
I'll cut them some slack on not showing much of the crafting system because they've already said that it's going to be "generic". The weather system doesn't seem like it would be too far fetched either... the only thing I've seen them promise that I'd like to see backed up with some solid video is the server / zone capacity.
If I'm not listing a feature here that you've seen them promise, please list it. I'd like to know what people are talking about when they complain that they've only seen a small fraction of the promised features listed.

There are a few you missed....
for example:
A dynamic AI in the sense that mobs will evolve in the game world. If you kill mob, its dead, no respawning. If mobs go unchecked, they will increase in power and champions will spawn, they may even build structures and roam.
Mobs will loot you!
Wolves wont drop the epic sword of epicness...a mob will drop exactly what it has on it, everytime, and if it decided to loot an unfortunate player and is now rocking his gear...he will drop that too!
Not to mention just how the AI works. Its challenging...no more WoW, WAR, easymode where the mobs just take the beating standing still, maybe cast a spell or two....they will strafe and try to flank.....etc
You may say that having mobs isnt a feature....but mobs and AI like this has not been done like this before so i consider it something worth mentioning. Especially the evolving/roaming part of it.

1. Full-loot open PvP
This is by far the most important thing in Darkfall. This simple thing is more imortant than all the rest put together. Full-loot give a game danger on every level, even the most boring PvE and harvesting part. It also makes the PvP equal for all, because most will not dare to use the best gear they have in a full-loot game.
2. The fact you can talk to your enemies.
I have missed this part of a game for several years. You can get to know your enemies, PK`s and other rases on a different level when you can talk with them. If you as a human meet an ork and an alfar at the same place, you could ask the ork for a short alliance to kill the alfar...genious.
3. Three factions
This is better than just the two we are used to have. If one faction is big, two smaller can balance this.
I dont really like fps games, but will easily accept that for the rest of the good thing DF promise.
Wow, that sounds pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of pve but with a system like this it could be interesting. Hope they can make it work.

The Sceptics, yes they're special but we've need them to.. I guess.
And if they're put more effort MMORPG.com can create a 'Team Sceptic'
and send them to the Special Olympus.
I got that last one about the AI being more challenging... Could you link to a recent qoute on the dynamic spawning and the NPC's looting dead players?
It is the sandbox aspect ..mostly i am looking forward to enter the world with my Guild and start to create something and to build something..of course a city
Then we try to establish diplomatic ties with our neighbours and then of course we will go destroy and loot the richness of our enemies

$OE - eternal enemy of online gaming
-We finally WON !!!! 2011 $OE accepted that they have been fired 2005 by the playerbase and closed down ridiculous NGE !!
"There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." Raph Koster (parted $OE)
to be honest the only thing i really hope this game brings to the table is fun and a sence of being part of the world and not just a outsider looking in
if it can deliver that then i will be happy to call it feature complete
