LF a game that actually requires mental skill, not a boring grindfest

GripMastaGripMasta Member Posts: 3

Hello.

I've been searching for MMO games that requiere actual skill to play them, not boring grinding games. I have played both, and I enjoy the PvP competition more than grinding. At least when I PvP I know I win because I'm good, not because I spent 500 hours farming for the best gear. People should not praise others for having free time to play games, it's absurd. Anyway........

The recommendation can be a free game or a game that requires me to pay monthly or 1 time only, whatever. I have played:

Rakion (can't log in for some reason)

Rumble Fighter(laggers ruined the fun)

GunZ(quit due to school)

Lunia (lag like hell)

Elan Online (14 free trial, then activation fee... i know its only 5 dollars but the game sucks)

KwonHo (ijji canceled it)

Exteel(don't like it)

Maple Story(no way, don't say Maple, lol)

Fury(repetitive as hell... at least when I played it)

Guild Wars ( I don't know if you consider this a skill based ... I don't, i just put it here so u guys dont recommend it)

There's like... some others I can't think of right now, but that pretty much covers it I think, and well... these are some games I'm aware of.

Darkfall (coming out very soon, hope to try it out)

Blade and Soul (if the trailer on youtube is actual gameplay... this game will change the face of mankind... LOL)

Continent of the Ninth(looks sweet)

Mortal Online(Darkfall's future competition)

Warhammer (grind fest kthx)

Aion (ain't gonna happen)

All the other new releases (they're either FPS games or grindfests, am i right?)

NOTE : I consider a game a grind fest when the game does not take skill to play, meaning.... you know what I mean. Rakion might be a grindfest because you need to kill others to level, AKA grinding. But the grinding takes skill and is fun. In other words, I don't like games in which a person can just spend 200 hours and another person 20, and the guy who spends 200 has to win because he's a higher level and he's got better gear.

Well, thanks in any reccomendation. Don't flame

P.S. I'm not a big fan of FPS games, so no FPS recommendations pl0x.

Btw, I know that there's like... 2 games out there that I have not heard of... oh well. Hope one of you guys can fill me in.

    You didn't mention EVE.Comes with a free 14 (or 21 day) trial.

I would have to agree with Kyleran on EVE being a thinking game and you don’t have to grind since the skills are all gained via time. Even if you’re off line you can gain skills if you have them set to train that is. Could try Shadowbane you get XP for PVP just like when you kill mobs/npcs it is an older game and free to play. However you can grind to the top level with the right group in about a day or two it is more about the pvp than getting to level 75. Both games allow you to make unique builds on your char.

Sounds like your asking for fps even of you don't want it.

All mmorpgs has grinding of some kind before you can pvp.

UO pre aos took a pretty good time to make a character ready for pvp..

but when it was ready-- the pvp couldn't be more fair and it's the pvp is the best i've ever expereienced.

I loved the magic system they had it that game it was so fucking good. Pure talent that game once you got a character ready for pvp.

so my point is if you dont want fps you gotta be ready to do some sort of grinding to be able to pvp unless you play eve.. but you still gotta just sit around and be boored for a while(heard its about a month?) before you can beginn being usefull.

Mabinogi? It can eventually be "mastered" but you may get a couple months of fun out of it.
