Tcos>>can be taged as dead ?

Well imo if all Tcos team (i mean devs and both publishers NA and EU) won''t find a agreement (or a map at least  ) you can tag this mmo as good as dead (at least in EU) because i don't think that some of the playr base in Europe would like to play with NA (no offence) coz of time line and rest of the EU won't play the game without their friends so well. In before a post about horrible grammar followed shortly therafter by a post stating english may not be the original posters first language.

BTW: Awesome job on finding just this site to make your very first post about the death of a yet to be released game. I am sure you will be a benefit not only to this sites revenue model, but to the community itself.

    Sad, but true!

I can understand the frustration of the English players and their friends, but how selfish is it, to wish for the fail of a game, just to be able to feel vindicated?

I think, it was an awful decision on the developer's part to agree to the splitting of the UK players from the rest of Europe, BUT the questions remains, whether they had a choice. It took them a long time to find an NA publisher. Perhaps they could not pick and choose. Perhaps they had to accept conditions, they did not like.

TCoS is made by a small company. They are not just copying the WoW format, they are trying something new (combat system etc). For that alone they deserve a fighting chance at least.

It is too soon to make any conclusions based on the little we know. How IP blocking will affect us is still unknown. It is also not know what consequences IP blocking will have. It is not certain whether Europe will be split up for us players.

But even when they decide to split the European community in two, we will not know how that will work out.

I have ordered the game and am gonna play it  for at  least 3 months just because the game is that good and worth it and deserves my money. Whether I will keep playing beyond that depends on many things still unknown.

And its the reason why they get away with pulling this kind of Bullshit, because certain people will buy no matter how badly they treat their customers.

Oh and BTW ... it wont be such a great game if your running around on Dead servers will it ...

its time for worldwide servers..thats one thing soe do well. mmo's today just have way too many restrictions on players that you might aswell let the devs play your character.

I won't be so negative as the OP, but I have to say the decision to let UK players play only with US, is one of the most stupid things I ever come across in a MMORPG

UK is in fucking Europe (note to the devs which are from Holland which also is in Europe)

PS: I will buy a new and updated map of the world for Frogster, apparently they still have the old one where the US is part of the British Empire................

I doubt TCOS will fail in such a way that it will be canned, but theres no way it will ever be a success now. It is fairly obvious at this point this game will be operating on life support. It is a shame, seems like it would be a game that with time could be decent. I doubt they have the competence, and more than likely the money now to ensure that.

Most awesome is to have half of your friends playing in a "IP blocked alternative dimension" (TM)

I like the game game and wanted to play it , but with IP Blocking and splitting the UK and other countries from europe there is no way I'll be giving them a penny.

If it does fail ( and nobody wants any game to fail ) then I'll find it difficult to have any sympathy for them as they have brought it upon themselves.

OP, your words are spewing wisdom. You should become a market analyst. Your ability to predict a game's fate without knowing much at all would save devs much time and money. We need more people like you in the world.

I honestly don't know why your ripping into this guy..he's been the most truthful out of all of you.

Ok the game may not die - but its just taken another step towards become a f2p game - seriously ALOT of people are unhappy with the current state of the game and the direction its headed - therefore ALOT of people will not play, or will only check out the starter zone.

There are some people who think theres a proxy workaround - personally I think thats a dead end, as soon as you try and subscribe they will most likely be Billing Address Banning peeps.

I hope those of you remaining who are willing to buy the game enjoy it I really do...but I'll tell you one thing, if things don't change, it won't last. TCoS has so much hot competition coming up (Darkfall, Aion etc) it really can't afford to be pissing around like this, its alreay lost a crap load of its potential playerbase a week before launch...seriously not a good sign.

There is also now a rumour going around on the General forums of thier site that the EU release date has been set back...

Just stop defending the game and its developers already - they have made huge fracking mistakes - they will now pay for them; either severely or lightly. Who knows - who cares - they've certainly put me off the game.

What the hell are you talking about man! You seriously have no clue then to just troll do you!

It's not about having international servers. I am all for world wide servers like it was in the old SWG days!

But that's not the case here!

The EU playerbase will be split up in two. One set of EU countries will be run by Frogster and one set of EU countries will be run by Acclaim.

And then they implement IP blocks so these countries can't play on the other publishers servers!!

That is what's going on here and that is seriously going to turn out to be the downfal of this game!

    Wich is a shame really!

Even the dev team will understand that seperating european countries from each other isnt the ideal way.

This leads me to believe they didnt have a choice.

For me this seperation isnt a big issue.

This gives everyone a chance to make new friends and start new guilds.

I do have a feeling we will miss the UK players more then they will miss us hehe.

See you all ingame in december

The thing that bothers me(yes I am being selfish here)is the fact I am from Scotland but live in Holland,I do speak dutch but am not as relaxed as I am with English, now looking at the servers we will have the Benelux,Scandanivia,Austria and Swiss...French and Germans have there own server's.

I know there will be dutch guilds as there will Scandanivian, yes there maybe a few English speaking guilds but without the UK guys and the rest of Europe they will be very few and far between, also take into the fact you will only have say 9 countries over the 2 servers(1xpve 1x pvp)that makes it even worse.

For people like me this is a none starter, even the free trial of the 1st 7 levels doesnt seem worth while,a real shame.

I see too few countries to fill the servers, even one of each kind, pvp and pve, will be too much for the european countries under the same publisher. And the ones playing in USA will be playing out of common time with just a few players online.

In my opinion is really a mess.

I've been watching and waiting for this game for a couple of years now.  It's gone from looking interesting to good to great...then it took a sudden nosedive with the ip blocks for the servers.  Now, with the IP blocked forums as well (I've never heard of this before anywhere...IP blocked FORUMS?) it seems to me that they're trying their hardest to keep their seemingly innovative and fun game as unplayed as possible.

I'm losing faith faster than I thought possible.  Compartmentalizing the community into microsections is a great way to prevent the community from bonding and becoming long term players (or players at all).

Well heck, why don't some of you give them the 20 Million Euro it would take to setup their own NOC to service the whole of Europe??

That way they won't have to use different publishers in different territories.

OR, arrange a deal for them to sign with a single major publisher that can get the game released in all European territories for them.

I'm not involved in marketing and I have never released a product to the public for purchase so I would really like an answer to this question from someone more knowledgeable than me.

    Why couldn't they self publish?

I would think that self publishing a direct download/purchase model partnered with someone like Direct2Drive and NO IP blocking would have been a better way to go.  Are having boxes in game stores really important enough to agree to IP blocking?

I guess the developers are hoping to replace all of their long-time followers who will not be playing the game now with people who just randomly buy games because the box looks pretty.  That doesn't make much sense to me.

Someone earlier said that no one wishes the game to fail.  I do.  I hope it fails hard.  That is the only way another developer won't make the same stupid mistake.  If they do OK then another game coming out soon might go "Well Spellborn still did OK even with IP blocking, I guess we can do the same thing."

I do not want that.   I have 23 friends who are in different countries throughout Europe and US who were all looking forward to this game.  Since we can't play together we all agreed that none of us will play.

"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."

Setting up an online shop isn't even the problem.

You are forgetting the most important part of all: The Game Servers

You need a Data Center location, buy all the hardware (wich is crazy expensive), set it all up yourself and have professional staff to maintain it 24/7.

Then you have to set up your own Customer Support and Game Support and hire staff for it and train them.

Also, you would like to have your game marketed. Setting up a Mutli-langual Marketing Department with people in various countries to get the product marketed in all the countries.

    Cheers
