Starting Lotro..

Okay, me and my friend have decided to have a bash at lotro, after becoming bored of playing wow for 3 years.

I would like to ask  a few questions:

first of all, we want to join a fairly well populated server, something like medium / busy population.

If you can personally reccomend a server i will be grateful.

Also after playing usually a range dps / caster class in most my past mmo's iv been wondering which lotr class will cater for my dps lust?

Is there any open pvp between players or is it just the monster game thing?

Is there any form of duelling?

Is there any OP classes or mega nerf'd ones to avoid?

Thanks for your time, peace.

Everyone typically recommends their server.  I play on Elendilmir which I enjoy (2nd most populated server)  You can browse the servers' individual forums to get more of a feel for each.

Hunters are the pew-pew class, Rune-keepers are the new casting dps/healing hybrid.

Just monster play.  There is a segment of the population that PvPs regularly and can't wait to get this new expansion PvE stuff over with

Yes you can challenge other players to spars.

Tough to say right now with the new expansion out.  In general though, ministrels seem to the most unhappy, hunters seem happy about taking DPS to new heights, everyone else is somewhere in between.  You seem PvP oriented and the hunter is a very desired class in PvP.  Runekeepers I suspect will also be desired.  Burglars used to be borderline OP due to their stealth, CC, debuffs, and evasion, and I suspect they will continue to be pretty badass.
    Thanks for your time, peace.
