Any good tips on using the Gambit system?

I'm enjoying my warden very much. All the way up to 17, yes very casual player. Anyways these gambits are adding up and it's getting hard to tell what is good to use and what isn't.
Any tips from other wardens out there on how you like to use the gambit system?
Do you get better results using long gambits compared to two?
