Being as this is the korean release, I would guess it has more to do with koreans dying in internet cafes from playing for days on end with no sleep rather than to stop gold farmers or to rip people off.
We won't see those restrictions on the american release.
Sorry if this has already been addressed...I didn't read all 13 pages before posting.
Still if it keeps people from playing to death, and deters gold farmers it sound like a good thing. Problem is its a slippery slop, sTart at 300, then oh my thats still maybe enough to make sure people get sleep lets make it 200, and so on..
Maybe you need reason to subs, but i do not, i love this game, and most of us here do. Anyway, you are free to choose your game
I've been following this game for a really long time now, and I think time is limit is shitty EVEN though I know I won't be close to using all that hours...just the fact that I'm limited even though Im paying for it makes it really annoying and makes me think they are trying to get more money from me in a tricky way... sorry.. this is not a way of getting western crowd playing your game.
World of Warcraft is a proof that MMORPG quality should affect schedule/budget and not the other way around.
There will be no timelimit for the NA/EU version of Aion. The timelimit is for Korea only and is implimented by law not by choice of ncsoft.
Furthermore, it is not expensive at all.

Hopefully people don't read this and take it seriously for not knowing any better.
Korean MMO's have to deal with Government interference and limit play times, warn after extended play, etc. This is for the Korean version. Do you think a game company would limit players from playing their game without some outside interference? Luckily our Government does not dictate how we spend our time as seriously as the Korean Government does.
People if you're going to reply to an old thread at least skim over the replies in case people have already explained and discussed the topic.... Goodness.

Serious nerd rage going on here.
But, whining about 10 hours a day is a bit ridiculous. I don't do 1 single thing for more than 10 hours a day except breathing.

When the war of the beasts brings about the worlds end,
the goddess descends from the sky, wings of light and dark spread afar.
A day has 24 hours, 8 hr sleep + 6-8h(work/school at a minimum average) = ~14-16hr not even counting transport, food, toilet, house chores...heck even if you dont do any of those and cut on sleep time you'll still have a hard time to be able to play 10 hours a day..and that applies to addicts aswell(being one myself)
Unless you want to play in the toilet with a fridge by your side with no RL contact whatsoever, I can hardly imagine any other way you'd make those 10 hours a day or even waste it before the end of the month
As a side note, they arent limiting players to 10 hours a day, its 300 a month so if you didnt play 10 hours a day whatever is left will still be there till the end of the month, overall I see it as a good method to prevent botters

These time limits are enforced in South Korea by Government Law, because they have to deal with serious game addiction issues in that country.
Hence, in China the Government goes even further by limiting it per hour! People have to pay per hour there.
So, in the end in NA/EU it will be like always.... a monthly subscription fee without time limit!
Altho, seeing the increase in serious game addiction within NA/EU ... I wouldn't be suprised that it will not take long till we get time restrictions by law here too. Wich honestly would be a good thing.
WoW kiddies hiding in their mom's basement playing almost litterly 24/7 is pretty sick and sad reality of this day. And not only WoW, but with other games as well.

Just what we don't need -- more government intervention telling people how to live their lives. Honestly, if someone wants to live in a "basement" and play a video game 24/7, that's their business. They're not hurting anyone but themselves. IMO, governments have much bigger issues to tackle -- like the economy, crime, world peace, etc., etc., etc.
On a side note, I'm guessing there are more people hanging out in the basement addicted to porn than there are people addicted to MMOs.

You are wrong. Game addiction is just as bad as any other addiction.
These people either lose their jobs or have none at all or kids for that matter that skip school or not going anymore at all. They grow health problems and so basically eat up and live from the social security and healthcare system, causing taxes and insurances to go up again for YOU!
People should start to look at the bigger picture.
Maybe your country is so fucked up that you don't have a social security and healthcare system and end up on the street when you are out of a job, but in many countries here in Europe we thankfully got such systems in place, so people don't end up on the streets as beggars or even forced to start robbing your home for money to eat and for some to even fuel their addiction problems.
Every medal and coin has two sides. It's about picking the right one as Government.
And sometimes things have to be regulated. Just like age restrictions on alcohol, tabaco, etc.
guess I can't play this game then. I usually rack up at least 15 hours a day playing (I'm an addict
). Then again in that 15 hours I'm not playing the same game usually. When DAoC first came out then maybe, but ever since I stopped playing DAoC I usually only play a game 4-5 hours before I switch to another.
all you noobs do know this is for korean side only? afterall its onl been said 100000 times but people still dont seem to be able to keep it in there heads for so long before there memories go away again

it's nothing compared to the Darkfall lovers and haters arguing the same old arguments over and over.. i stopped posting there eventhough i'm a Darkfall fan... just read through all their different post and you'll see what I mean about them rehashing the same argument... (sigh) it's so pointless...

The lazy will make a living off of the hard workers and leave you to wonder why you don't just sit at home." Not until I got older did I truly understand what he was talking about.
Community assistance is one thing, but it is being used for the wrong things. Social Security should not be used for some fat slob that can't get off his ass to put the next burrito in the microwave, nor should said slob be collecting welfare.

this method of subcription is for korea, not for NA, ncsoft wouldnt do this method for NA, they never have, but if they did, which they probably wont, then it wouldnt matter unless all of you really do play more than 10 hours a day which is bad, ppl who do that have no life

I believe many asian countries are putting time restrictions on their MMO's now.
Its cool that you maybe interested in other games but don't think these people are stupid. You are not done with the DF forum (you started a thread there today). However, you are right. If they read through all the threads they will see much useless banter indeed.
