WoW should be called Ever-quest

z8195az8195a Member UncommonPosts: 17

I'm enjoying the stress test and like the game so far, but this is the game that should actually be called Ever-quest.  I've made it to level 11 and I'm ALWAYS on a quest.  It seems the best way to level up.  There are quests left and right.  As soon as you walk into a new town there are several NPC's that want to give you a quest.

I'm not sure if this quest bombardement will be good in the long run.  So far it's fine, but I haven't yet seen an opportunity to do a ol' fashioned dungeon crawl with a group of friends, which is what I've enjoyed most in other on-line games.  Maybe that'll come later, we'll see.

In my opinion Wow is a great game so far. The graphics aren’t the greatest but the game gets you interested. People are saying that it sucks because you can't build houses and all those other features they had in SWG. I personally think that feature took away from the game play in SWG... There are quests left and right in Wow but you don't have to do them, by doing them just involves you in the story more. In my opinion Wow will turn out to be good, I'm hoping that it will be better then SWG because that was a big disappointment to me...  And all those people that were commenting on how this game is terrible compared to games that came out in the past like EQ... This game is similar to EQ so I don't know what the hell you’re talking about....<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Yeah, as I was playing yesterday I saw many people talking about what's simlar to every other game they have played. The SWG thing about houses is sad. Saw someone say "It would be great if we were able to drop like 5 house on that hill over there." image That was one of the downfalls of SWG I would say. There wasn't any open space anymore. Everyone had 10 lots that they could use all for houses if they chose too. And Naboo had those small houses that only counted as 1 lot. So there was nothng to stop someone from having 10 houses.image WoW from what I have seen so far is a very stable and solid game.image

the main big diffrence between EQ and WoW is the level grind .. eq needs power gamers ...
WOW dosnt .. thats one of the main attractions for me .... ::::28::::::20::::::08::::::01::::::31::::::40::

thatz, stfu please lol image no offense, but doesnt it make the least bit of sense that ppl are constantly comparing EQ2 to WoW. they are the 2 heavy hitters and ppl are going to compare and contrast them. go to the EQ2 forums, there is plenty of talk about WoW. i like both games very much and i will discuss them freely.

every thread in here that mentions any other game gets flamed by u, and pretty much only u. who made u the EQ2 forum nazi anyways. let ppl say what they want. cripes lighten up.

OMG! he said Everquest 2, throw him into the bog! image

Thatz22 this thread was fine untill you made that outburst. Continue with such outbursts when not necessary and I will hunt you down.

You can compare without flaming. It's quite a simple notion. Yet it seems to be a rather difficult thing for some people to understand.

So far there hasn't been any flaming or trolling. Rest assured if there was then this thread would not still be active. image

I'm glad it isn't called Ever-Quest, SOE has sh^t for customer service. SOE = Nerfers galore customer haters money suckers!!

On the other hand, Blizzard has remarkable customer service, and this so called "stress test beta" happening right now is infact not very stressfull at all, as a matter of fact it's very VERY enjoyable.

Quests are there to keep you interested in the game. Some quests will ask you to go to carverns to collect stuff or kill a certain mob. But what you have forgotten about WoW that is so great when it comes to dungeons is the instance.. Instance is the thing that gives you or your group a personal cave that looks just like the real cave but only you and your teammates can enter. That way you never have to wait for a certain mob to spawn. Also a quest isn't the same thing over and over again. Quests don't give you much more xp then running around and killing mobs. Quest can ask you to do lots of stuff, but if you wanted to, you could just run around and kill mobs and maybe take a few quest now and then because they give something good.::::20::

I like the quest system in WoW alot, reminds me of Daocs in a way. But, somthing about the game seems lacking and I can't put my finger on it yet.

I do think that WoW and EQ has some simularities, but I don't think that it is close enough to call it EQ.  A lot of people comment that this game is a lot like this one and so on... Well, noone is really going to reinvient the wheel again and again.  And secondly, D&D games have been around before EQ, so everyone has been copying everyone... kinda like music =)

First impression of WoW = Awesome, nothing better out right now.  (IMHO)

You guys talking about the speed of levelling...

You do realize that it will become much harder/longer to level when the game goes live right? For beta the exp gains and the amount needed to level are set so that testers can progress rapidly so that content at all levels can be tested. Also, to give people a reason to play, compare and test multiple characters.

That being said I am very impressed with the game.

I remember being amazed back in 1999 when I first saw Kelethin (wood elf city in EQ for those who don't know). Well comparing it to Darnassus is like comparing a one-light town in Mississippi with New York City.

Thank goodness. I played for one day and got a level 12 Undead mage. Is it official that they are increasing the exp you need for level? Or is it just an assumption.

I don't think that they've said anywhere that they would decrease the leveling speed.. and if they didn't, I wouldn't count on it. In the betas that I have been in, this close to release the leveling speed is usually what they're going to use.

And.. personally I like a short level grind. I like a grind where you can max out your character's level in about 2-3 months of maybe 4 hours a day.

I don't. That means powerlevelers can become "leet" in a month. I really dislike games where everybody can easily get a maxium level character. It should be a challenge to reach maximum level, so when you see a level 50 walk into the city you say "Whoa, check out this guys level!".

I think that the exp-gain is exactly how it should be, and will be upon release.  A comfortable progress speed for a character is exactly what MMORPG's need.  Grinding is such a turnoff IMO, as I sit at my comp and gaze at the wall while grinding my toons in other games..  But the thing with Blizzard is they will have content to have your characters going for a long time.  I've heard rumors (no proof, alas) that upon Master level, you start to train as a HERO (Refer to WC incase your a dolt).  My HOPES are that these hero levels will have lots of exciting new content.  I'm sure most of us are seeking a game that can keep us entertained ALL the time (don't post flame about how there is always some pain in the ass quest etc to do in every game, because I'm looking at the big picture here), so every day there is something to look forward to as you log in.  Not the 'Alright, I'll sit here for 8 hours a day, for the next week, and THEN I'll start having FUN!!! :):):)'  speech that some people have to give theirselves.

Blizzard will not let you down.

I think if a game is based around quests, and the game can make the quests interesting what could the problem be??? I played the Guild Wars Alpha Demo, and the best aspect of it to me was the quests... take a look back in the years for any RPG and you'll see quests is what made it great....Now to the people that are saying WoW is like Everquest and are making it out to be a negative think about this.... Doom is argubaly is the first FPS ever(definitely the first mainstream FPS), now every game that came out after it was a FPS, and is similar to Doom, is that bad thing??? Just face it people, MMORPG games are going to be similar, the only way a game could drastatically change would be to take away leveling altogether, take away combat altogether, take away a fantasy or sci-fi setting.....and you know what game you get?????? The Sims Online

Funny Story about the Sims Online: My roomate in the game was a webcam girl, after playin the game with her awhile, let me into her site for free, and actually did some work on the site for her...LOL....she was smokin hot, the only good thing to come out of that game though

I remember reading a post that said that leveling speed below lvl 30 will stay about the same but will get slower onwards...
