Vanguard is the most underrated mmo on the market. Ignore the flames i will get for the statement, take the time to look at it and download the trial.
If im wrong ill buy yo ua coffee.
Vanguard saga of heros is the best pve experience out there. People who enjoy playing goog games [and not just bitching for the sake of bitching ] need to give this one a fair shake despite the bad launch.

I agree. VG is a great game as it stands, but with the shaky launch and bad rep, there just aren't many people to play with.
I await Jumpgate Evolution and Stargate Worlds, it would be nice to see some gamers programme an MMORPG that they'd enjoy. Rather than programming a mass appeal turd that fails miserably on all fronts then blackens both the name of the company that programmed it and the publisher.
I'm always vigilant and hope that SGW will be the one, but who knows what goes on in the boardrooms of some of these companies now? Since WoW the guys at the top are rabid to hit the big time and share a piece of the Blizzard pie, often resulting in a piece of crap being farted out after 5 years that ends up merging servers and job departments at the company that made it.
The next awesome MMO? Only you can answer that after it's released, one gamers awesome is anothers idea of eating virtual glass. Until release all we have is hope that the company making it aren't a bunch money chasing dicks that never played an MMO and only learnt the basics of surfing porn. However that would be an accurate description of most of the decision makers at these companies in my opinion, based on what they release.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"
Look for Dark and Light. The whole world is waiting for it. It's the next Ultima Online.
Fixed it for ya. Don't stop believing.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
Played: Archlord, GW, RFO, Knight Online, Silkroad, WoW, Rappelz, shaiya, Flyff, Fury, Space Cowboy, Perfect World Beta, Rakion, sword of the new world, Linage 1 and 2, Savage 1
Anything that is NOT a Themepark MMO, or similar to WOW cause so far all ripoffs and clones have failed, TBH there really is no next awesome MMO , not until devs start getting innovative and get away from the level based , compressed class/profession mechanics, getting rid of instances and endgame raids, loot based economies, and target an older audience that will stay loyal to them for years, stop making dumbed down games for casuals , soloers, and anti-social twits, and carebears. At one time when the MMO held credbility there was some very quality games out there now, we have total shite and too much emphasis on mass appeal when everyone has different tastes. Most real MMO players outgrow the simplistic, child's play MMO quickly and cancel their sub and look for the next MMO to give them a real challenge. I'm really starting to think that people wouldnt know what a true MMO was unless it came up and slapped them in their face.

How do you know the developers dont' like playing mass appeal turds?
If the game can appeal to the "masses" why can't it appeal to some developers? Did ya think of that?

Because if they are intelligent enough to get a job as a game dev they probably aren't going to want to spend their free time playing something designed for six year olds

Baloney. I think plenty of people smart enough to play video games like things that appeal to six year olds.
Are you saying none of the Devs that worked in WoW actually like the game, and they all think it's a turd? Preposterous.

I'm saying that the developers aren't required to be gamers to work on an MMORPG, many are just code crunchers. The few decision makers at the top tend to be well paid executives masquerading as gamers for PR purposes.
We all know the feeling of playing an MMO, some PR frontman does an interview or you're reading patch notes and everyone ingame scratches thier heads and lets out a big "WTF?". I've played alot of MMOs and they all end up selling thier souls to Smedley, erm I mean Satan, compromising everywhere they can in order to appeal to as many as possible. End result = turd.
I want Koster to be incharge of SGW development and have his own squad of storm troopers to take out any executives that wish to compromise on his plans! It should have been this way with SWG!

Well the only game that looks promising in the near future is Darkfall with all the features you mentioned. It looks very promising but as others have said it's a gamble. Something big is going to happen with this game very soon. It will either release or the whole thing will come crashing down as for most of the people that have been following this game for years this is their last chance to come through on their promises.
As for other games Chronicles of Spellborn, Aion and Stargate Worlds all look promising but out of those three I would probably recomend Aion the most. I only say this because the reports out of the Korean OB are very positive.
On the distant horizon Champions Online, Star Trek Online, Earthrise, Mortal Online and Fallen Earth all have peaked my interest. Probably Star Trek Online has me excited the most only because I'm a huge Trekkie. Mortal Online and Earthrise have features similar to Darkfall and look promising for the same reasons. Champions is a Superhero game from the people that do it best, Cryptic so it will definitely be worth a look see. I don't really know all that much about Fallen Earth but from what I've skimmed from their website it looks like there may be something to it.
Oh and an honorary mention to SW:TOR as it will most likely be a great game but at this point judging when it will release is to early to tell.
