Is what is allowed to show ...cause of NDA

You mean the NDA covering all those hard working beta testers we saw?

    Yep

Im not sure what the point is of attempting to have discusion with people who maintain a skeptical outlook at this game, no matter what argument is rebutted it just seems to continue, what i think these labeled 'trolls' should really state in their post is......not convinced until i play it....and thats it, why people bother posting more than that is a mystery to me, seems like a waste of energy.

Surely forums should be used to talk about upsides and downsides to features they are told are in the game and be taken at face value, then progress much along the same lines after release...whenever that is (quite frankly does not matter if its today or 2025.....I don't see how it really affects anyone except the company and people involved with the company)

Don't like what you see here...move along to a game you do like.....

I am one of the most skeptical/realistic people i know...but i don't see the point of spewing vile on a forum board forever and a day.....if you have an interest in the game then why can't people focus on the good and positive of what they here and hope for the best.

This seems like such a small minded stereotypical thing to say.

Some gamers would like for us to believe that we have to choose between great graphics and great gameplay.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Both are entirely possible and should expected of modern MMOs.  Of course, as long as gamers make excuses and accept anything less, you'll have developers pushing games out that will fail to reach their full potential.  If a game can be improved, there's absolutely nothing wrong with saying so regardless of whether it's graphics, gameplay, AI, quests, or whatever.   That doesn't make you a child; quite the contrary in fact.

I've replied to this before, and you of course decided to ignore it.

Tell that thing to Mythic, Funcom and Blizzard. (the you can have good graphics and good gameplay part).

And I don't agree that saying graphics matter is childish, it's just different opinions.

Not sure it's lag or offset hitbox. It's most probably that the hitbox is bigger than the player model. That's a much bigger concern than the bad animations.

yea i think its just because the hit box is a tad bigger than that model but for an ork it will just fit

i dont see a problem with it unless it effects the combat plus the size of the hit box can be adjusted

I love the usual personal assurance that they can fix this they can fix that, its only a small problem, its not important, its not their fault, it will be done after launch or in beta, it will be different for release.

Maybe, might, possibly, its got potential.

They have had 8 years to work on this game, if they did not fix any of these so called small problems in the last 8 years there’s very little chance they will fix them in the 1 month they have left to start and finish open beta and then launch the game, not to mention do the hundred other things needed for a successful launch.

Some of these issues are fundamental design choices and technical issues concerning their network, server and client.

Every time people finally get to start seeing what state their beloved game is actually in the denial sets in.

What you see is what you get, at least what they are willing to let us see 1 month from launch, so who knows what everything else they are not showing is like, could be even worse or non existent.

That’s why I personally cant believe they would attempt to launch with this, so I’m now quite sure the whole launch within 2008 official company commitment and the schedule for open beta to end in early December were just more of the same misleading and unrealistic predictions they have been making for the last 8 years.

Oh cool was looking for a link to the video. Was hoping for a lot more footage is my only disappointment.

I liked the way the goblin stayed on the move and fought to live. Very good AI.

    Thanks for the link

I'm just saying that most of the people hyping this game as somehow a 'revolution' in MMOs are going to be disappointed. It may have decent gameplay, which I've seen no concrete evidence of, but if the graphics and animation are as terrible as what that video demonstrated it won't be mainstream. It may be the 'god of niche' games', but that's all it's going to be, if it even achieves that.

It will be lucky to hold the subscriber base of AoC, which most of the Darkfall fanbois regard as a failure. Will they consider it a failure when their beloved game goes down the same road? Or will they change their forum name and pretend that they never backed the game in the first place?

Fickle is all you lot are. I guarantee this forum will be filled with angst ridden posts about how you were so let down and how Tasos is the devil by a month after the game's release.

    Guarantee.

I don't think there are many people claiming DF to be a revolution, in fact, most people are simply hoping DF will be a modern version of UO 2. As being main stream - the dev's have already said they aren't aiming to be mainstream but for a specific niche market, so if it ends up being the 'god of niche games' I'm sure they will be more than happy.

AOC cost a lot more to make, run, maintain etc... The funcom dev's even said before they released that they needed a certain amount of subs just to turn a profit - which they are no longer meeting, thus the game was a failure. DF may turn a profit with 1/100th of that sub figure, who knows, do you?

And that's fine if that's what you want and are happy with. But I do see a lot of people hyping the game as revolutionary and defending it like it was the holy grail of MMO's.

In the end I'm not against the game at all. I may play it. I just find the current MMO community to be self destructive...they cause the games to fail just because they expect them to be so much more than what they are, or even can be.

That and there is a certain amount of fun to be had by tossing lit matches into a volitile environment.

Oooh no...does that make me a troll?

    XD

Well, if they are - then yeah, I agree, they will probably be sorely disappointed.

All I know is I'm hoping the game is even half of what UO was at the time, and that the game is not some stinking pile of dung, however I am expecting the worst.

It is seen clearly in 0:45, it doesn't look like lag to me, the woman is never in that spot and yet the goblin hits her, might be what you say about the hitbox, I don't know about that stuff.

Now... can you guys give an explanation why they haven't fixed something so obvious and appearantly so easy to fix, before showing it to the press? And before open beta? Because I can't explain it, except thinking that they are using premade tools and 1) they have no idea how to modify it or 2) it can't be changed.

The devs have talked about the "extended weapon reach" before. Its part of the testing. We have seen it in other videos.

I don't know why I'm posting here considering 90% of yall are whining crybabies.

People now crying about animations? I guess graphics and animations helped AoC and Warhammer become massive successes ( oh wait one is a total failure and the other is on its way to being a flop ) .

After wasting my money on graphically good looking failures ( eq2, AoC War ) and wasting more money on overhyped games ( Tabula rasa, lotro )  . Its no wonder why WoW ( aka mmorpg gaming for dumbies ) is making a killing . They didn't give a crap about looks and focused on game play. I don't agree with the ease of its game play but obviously alot of people do.

If Darkfall is even half the game UO and Everquest was. Then it will be gtg.

Carebears and eyecandy lovers can cry all they want.. As long as its full loot PvP and working mechanics im gtg.

It's honestly like everyone logs onto WoW, and games like WoW, just to masturbate. Everyone plays by themselves, and when they don't, they get what they want and get off.

Graphics aren't a big deal for me either, as long as it looks half-decent.

If I want good graphics I'll just load up some single-player/online title or w/e. If this game delivers what its promised I'll play it, and if the graphics are a little dated I don't give a shit, I mean I grew up playing on a friggen Commodore 64.

No offense to the fans, but I still think its a pipe dream, but we'll see when it releases.

What do you mean no offense to the fans, but Darkfall is  a pipe dream? Calling Darkfall a pipe dream, or vapor ware, or anything like that is what offends the fans the most. How can you say, "no offense to the fans" and then say the most offensive thing to Darkfall fans?

That's like saying, no offense, but you are fat, stupid and ugly.

That's not the right video.  The one in the first post was an old fan made video.  The new one from the italian website is here: http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=XX4jLw5oM1c

Nicely summarized, likely would have said it worse myself

It's a figure of speech to indicate that an -opinion- which I believe is a truth is not intended to hurt the receiver on a personal level. We can split hairs on the nuances of the English language as long as you want.

Ok, you are right. It's like when you tell someone to go jump in a lake, you don't REALLY expect them to jump in a lake, or you tell someone to go to hell, you don't REALLY expect them to go to Hell.

You mean, you're going to be offended if you are a fanboi, but here's my opinion anyway.

    My bad.
