Bots and Hacks will be in every mmo. As long as they actively go after them then there won't be any major impact on the game.
Cash Shop is the biggest thing to worry about. If the producers implement some kind of experience modifier, or some kind of other broken enhancement ( skill increase, production increase ), then I would advise you just pass on this game. This will be especially true if the game is heavily dependent upon groups that require certain jobs to level at a decent rate.
I'm 21, nearly graduated, and have been playing games since Diablo 2. Hell, I was one of the morons back then who took their time to spread hex editors and instructions on duping SOJs legitly (not the "Blow up your corpse" scam). I've played with exs, their little sisters/brothers, friends who were much younger, much older, etc.
It's your mindset that's going to kill your experience in every game. Yes, "kids" can be annoying. They swear, throw threats, talk about doing weed 24/7, but if you lighten your ass up and take everything with a grain of salt, things might actually become a bit more enjoyable.
And seeing as how you're trying to "fall in love" with games and you talk as if you're trying to develop a relationship with a game; perhaps a doctor or more social experiences are what you need...more so than those "kids" do.
I don't know about the other games frogster provided but in ROM they are doing a decent job. Do you really expect that any company will maintain any game that isn't lucrative? They sure aren't charity organizations.
Edit: Typos
They also did an awesome job at first and was the best customer service I have ever experienced. Until they got hooked on the IM bug. Then as they decided to start putting their time and effort into new games our customer service dropped like a rock.
No, I wouldn't expect them to have a charity server running. But proper compensation or transfer to one of their other servers would be more fair then the 20 E credit and start new on another server offer they have offered us. They basically told us. Pay for another 3 months (45 euros), or sit around for 3 months, then we'll shut down the server and give you 20 euros credit to start a brand new char on our other server. Now does that sound fair? As long as you realize the ethics of this company then no problem, but I want to make sure every knows who's bed they are getting into.

Did you just take everything I said and blow it way out of proportion or what! You are reading way out of context and I honestly wonder why you are so defensive. I am a pretty easy going dude and just do not want my gameplay to be ruined by immature people?
I mean sure I can ignore it, but isn't that's what's wrong with society today as a whole? How long can we ignore things and just take everything with a grain of salt?
Like I said even if I do choose to ignore it, why should I have to accept it? Taking what I said about falling in love with a game was ignorant to assume that I was implying I was trying to develop a relationship to a game, seems like you got pretty emotional about my post... maybe you should just take it with a grain of salt?
I have played mmo's for a long time now, since EQ1 in '99. I have seen a ton of stuff and played with some bad and good people. I have never played a F2P mmo but this one caught my attention. I have been looking into for sometime and do plan on playing when it comes out. However, I am scared. These games tend to typically attract a very... for the lack of a better term, "immature" crowd... simply because they are free and thats what you get. I am scared of this. Like I said I have played many games, I want to like this one but with a bad community I am skeptical if I will be able to hang on for that long.... anyone else in a similar boat, or anyone who has played alot of F2P games convince me otherwise? Also when the game does come out is there anyone with similar experience with mmo's looking to play together... maybe a guild.. or just a duo, trio, ect?
Dude its free. It wont cost you a thing for trying it out.
Every online game has its immature players, but the most severe get banned.
RoM is worth a shot, really. Runes of Magic is the best thing out there as f2p. Essentially its broad-based class, skill, crafting, etc. with good graphics.
Anyone playing WAR or WoW or lotro or AoC should have their heads examined for paying $40 for a box and 12 bucks a months for those.

Ill second that pravius - it seems some "kids" never grow up
I've been playing the game for a few days now and the community is actually quite polite if quiet.
Guild Wars 2 is my religion
