 So my friend was talking about XI the other day, and made me want to go look at whats going on with it

I see its easier to solo, and possible to solo, Which i like.  I see with 4 expansions they added ATON,

Now i played back when the first expansion came out (imported) up until the US release came out. i never got pass the 20s, just hated sitting on my ass all day doing nothing but spamming THF LFG. so i want to try this game, and was wondering if its worth giving it a shot.

My other question, What class should  i play? I want something that can solo while LFG, and something groups want.   Ive played aton of diffent classes on other mmo so i can play anything, Currently im the Main tank of my WoW guild. and i love being important in a guild, But if i should go a solo class at first  i will

 

Thinking of going back to my old server Bahamut, hope the population is still large.

dancer can solo some during LFG. But seriously, it took me 10 min to kill a mob when group kill them within 30 sec.

It's going to be a lot slower to solo before you get your sub job. Support jobs, healers, and tanks are usually the ones people seek out the most first and fill the rest with DD's. Since they increased the amount of exp you get from EP-DC mobs, it's a lot easier to solo exp. Just yesterday I went from level 10-15 in the starting area before I went to a party. Anyway, a lot of things have been relaxed kinda'. It's not as steep of a curve as it used to be, but it's still steep. You'd probably like it, but I dont' know. Try it and find out.

I think that you're going to find that it's still not WoW.  It's not really solo friendly but they're adding some things to do while LFP but no idea to what extent the exp is going to be really helpful or not.  You're not gonna party with just people from your LS so being the important person isn't gonna really matter.  Also, tanking in WoW isn't like tanking in FFXI unfortunately.  Please don't take this as being rude or a flame in absolutely any manner, i just don't think this game is going to be the ne for you.  However, i could be wrong.  Bound to happen at some point i'm sure.

Its a party based game not a solo game.

That being said some jobs can solo some what ok. Especially with the new EXP ring. As a DRG/WHM at 75, I can often Chain EM's sometimes up to 3 at a time, with exp band I average about 3.5-4k an hour of exp WITH exp band. without it probably like 2.5k. Its not terrible but in a party I could easily average 6-8k an hour.
