Are any other pre-trammal UO fans as giddy about darkfall as I am? I mean shit it's not gonna be as polished as WoW but the fundamentals of the game seem to be aimed towards us! Thoughts?
I wouldn't be holding my breath for Darkfall; even if it does release (which I think it will eventually), then the quality and long-term competence of Aventurine are in question. Honestly, if Tasos decides to keep running things like he has been lately, I don't see this game getting fast patches, reliable information, customer support, or any other of the basic "needs" of a modern MMO gamer.
If Darkfall doesn't pan out then you'll have games like Mortal Online or Earthrise at least, which seem to be run by more...respectable companies.
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

No stealing and no hiding skill... that really disapointed me QQ. How can we have old school UO with out stealing and hiding damnit!
That coming from a guy that is a Warhammer fanatic.
Thats okay, but your opinion means little compared to those that dont want to have all those game-play governors that some think hamper immersion and fun. Rather than the game controlling the player, such as with WAR, the players will be influencing the game-play.
I am a Warhammer Fan and A Wurm Online fan, and ATITD fan and even a Face of Mankind fan. Why would a warhammer fanatic not apprciate and love open game play?

There is stealing. Now it requires combat skill...you win and you get the steal.
Actually, when UO first launched, it won "Coaster of the Year" from CGW for being such a bug-shot, un-fun, nearly unplayable mess. (yes, it did improve)
I'm thinking Aventurine can quite easily bring back those good times again.

I expect the game will not live up to your expectations. It may not even come close.

seems like the old UO players are now laughing /waits for the "well you are only an EVE fanbois and know nothing about sandboxes or influencing the game"
I am a pre-tram UO and EVE fanboy and I'll tell you that I believe DF is what we are seeking. The only question that remains is whether or not it'll release and fulfill that belief. One can hope and if it does not, one can hope another will come along. Oh, how I miss the glory days.
Looking forward to the sand-box, player-influenced and driven environment. I'd like to see others join in, but it will be a complex and unforgiving game unlike anything out there other than EVE I suppose.
