the new AO?

So , will this game be the new and improved anarchy online.

Is there a small hope for twinking in a new game.

Will there be a chance to use symbs, artifical limbs.

Fun missions with meaning, and outdoor content. (not instance crap  like wow ).

or will it just be crap and we can just stay with AO?

Since no matter what you actually say about ao, it is still one of the most advanced mmos out there.

Normally I would put gameplay ahead of graphics - but last year after downloading AO, installing all the patches - I deleted it after 10 minutes its just such an outdated looking game.

I thought Age of Conan was the new AO.

most people play mmo's for game mechanics, not graphics. ppl who want graphics, should stick xbox 360/playstation 3 on HDTV's or single player pc games like the witcher and Crysis.

who said it will be like AO? and if it's like AO what about the people who will be pissed it's not like DAoC or WoW or x mmo? the game will be what it will be, hopefully it will be unique and original. i sort of doubt that, but we'll see.

either way, i can't wait till beta

No, AO's stat system is far too complicated for the current generation of gamers.

    It's a Jeep thing. . .

Uhh.  Anarchy Online was based around instancing.

Well, at least until Shadowlands came along.

sorry but the 'current' generation of gamers is still the same generation as when AO came out in 2001, hence why the MMO business didn't boom until a simplistic game like WoW came out.

simple games have always been in demand, it's just companies used to have the balls to make complex games that may or may not sell well, but it's no big deal since they're easy and relatively cheap to make. but as the production costs have increased due to the demand for better graphics, sound, features, etc., their balls have shrunk by a ton. so why take the risk and spend millions upon millions of dollars and make a game that's great, but doesn't sell well because it confuses people? hence why more simplistic and easy to play games are being made, and played. and why, unfortunately, you'll never see a game like baldur's gate ever again

and no, people then and now don't like AO for the same reason people don't like using the more mind-numbingly complicated versions of linux rather than windows. because they want to play to have fun and do something, not spend all their time crunching numbers and memorizing keywords. advertising is only part of it for both, being user friendly will *always* be in high demand

Everything is too complicated for the current generation of gamers, reading the manual and reading some websites dedicated to helping new peeps out in a game that has a real learning curve, instead they bitch and moan till the game is nerfed so bad that Grandma can play it.... really what do MMOs have to show for today besides being EQ/WOW ripoffs or TCG/ Gambling Cash Scams? Not a damn thing, considering most of the supposed MMO players have never played anything outside of WOW or any of its bastard stepchilds (just about every MMO out there) they really have never had the true taste or feel of a MMO where you had to think, and what to do with true freedom in a MMO, building a toon from the ground up. No, the bad thing about it is that this new SW MMO will not be groundbreaking in any way what so ever.

In fact its been stated several times so far that this game will be mostly soloable, meaning its not really a MMORPG just a game with online features. 8 classes? come on, SWG had 9 classes and techincally there was 4 subclasses with trader, and before that there was 32, but also the original NGE that failed miserably, Bioware is making that NGE that SOE originally wanted, but done right this time... and what was the mission of the NGE again ? To reign in the target audience... which was World Of Warcraft players, into their world of simplistic train ride thru this time the KOTOR era. People on this site are so blind with this game like its going to be the greatest thing since electiricly but in reality a lot of people will be disapointed.  The vanilla linear taste reeks with this game..... where is talk of crafting? Space?, anything that makes them standout against other games? Stories are nice but choices and endings only take a particluar class or toon so far.. there is good, evil, neutral 3 endings , 3 outcomes, 3 stories per class how long will this novelty go on? This isnt a MMO, its  a single player game with online features with a premimum subscription. Open your eyes......

Anarchy Online was the first game to have instancing ( you may all thank Funcom for this marvelous invention ).
