Carebears wont like this abit. They all want the WoW stealth system instead.

Personally...i love it.  Full open PvP need different gameplay to work. People have screamed for years that it didnt work in other MMOs.

Could you imagine playing Halo 3 with slow character movement or extreme lag?
Okay, so they are trying to pull off a first person viewpoint where your move your mouse in the direction you are looking. I got that now. I never really studied all the promised features of Darkfall and how they plan to implement everything, but now I wonder about a million more little details, which is probably not answered yet.
See, this game certainly seems like it is trying to pull off way more then it can handle. It's trying to be a fast moving, skill based FPS style game that is also an mmo on a single server with 200 vs 200 player warefare as I've seen talked about several times on these forums already. It's trying to promise a million things and everyones favorite parts of a hundred thousand game style elements and put them all into this "sounds too good to be true" type of game.
But we can talk forever about what they are promising to be implemented in the game. What is actually going to happen when I install and play this game on my computer is where my real concerns are. My doctor can tell me that a pill I'm supposed to take tastes like moist, tender Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and warm apple pie all in the same little pill. And his nurses that work with him, for him in his offices can tell me the same thing. But that don't mean I'm not gonna taste a chalky piece of crap pill when I put it in my mouth. (The nurses in his office being all the friends and people who put up reviews of this game from the offices or control of Aventurine)

100 vs 100 is promised they only tested over 200 all together

Almost. If anyone else wanted to make a sandbox MMO with naval and mounted combat, open PvP, full loot and city building, no levels, no xp and no floating neon name tags.......ALL DF fans would go threr in a hearthbeat : )

But we are stuck with DF.

There is no obvious reason to me why the camera in 3rd person mode should be locked? I can see that it has to be like that in 1st Person, but 3rd... that makes like no sense. By the way, FPS = First Person Shooter, so yeah, in 1st person one should have a FPS type control scheme. But not when you look at your toon from overhead. That's totally tiresome and will most definitely feel clunky and restrictive ( and no I haven't played it yet, but there is such a thing as common sense).

Since this is a computer game one must sacrifice realism over playability.

So far I like what I see. This game is not for carebears. I applaud Aventurine for their game. I like the graphics too, it looks like going back to Elder Scrolls: Morrowind which I love. There is no such thing as turning invisible "sneaky" mode in broad light, this game is obviously not for kids. Also, for people that have experience in PvP combat in WoW and other games alike, forget it, this is not a theme park. If you played UO for example, you will notice how similar combat is. When this game is released you will see many people here complaining why they can not play like in WoW/WAR and all those easy carebear mode games.

Sounds really, really claustrophobic and frustrating as far as the character view goes. One thing that really bugs me is if I can't see the horizon. I always feel like I need to make my character look up, and if I can't if feels like you're stuck in a box, or you have blinders on.

Maybe it's better when you actually play than in the description here.

Do shooters lock the camera view? I was just playing Farcry and I could look anywhere I wanted to.

The combat is nothing like uo dont ever say anything like that again.

There was more to UO than pvp.

And about the kids remark I played UO as a kid knew alot of other kids and we did just fine back in those days.

Welcome to DF, Immersion is back

How is that immersive? It makes you feel like you're in a video game because unlike real life, you are unaware of your surroundings.

I've always had a tough time with isometric games because of this. I always want to look up and see what's around, but you can't. I don't find that very "immersive".

It's hard to represent real life field of view in a video game, because it's 180 degrees, plus you can turn your head, plus you can turn your body.

lol i love how all the trolls are so dense that they can't even try to stay on topic in threads anymore...this thread is about a review someone gave...maybe try talking about it?  Instead of copy/pasting the same "lol DF is an overhyped etc etc", which is laughable because it is one of the most underhyped games ever...a fact the trolls point out often as a negative thing (no communication)...hypocrits....

Anyways this quote, which isnt that new but it is nice to see it confirmed again, is awsome....

"You don’t get a big ass name on your head, so it’s quite possible to hide behind trees and rocks (not like in other games where some poor sap is trying to ambush you from behind a tree and you can see the end bits of his <really, really, really long guild name right here> tag sticking on the sides. In order to see your name a guy needs to hover on you with the mouse and you have to be close-ish (not sure of the distance, but if you see a moving figure far away on the horizon, you have to get closer to see who/what it is). "

Nice to see realism and immersion comming back into the game.  Hand holders will still get the most subs...but for those of us looking for a challenge....we are hoping DF follows through.

    Goblins online.

What’s interesting and revealing is not what the beta testers are actually saying, its all just repeating the same limited things.

Its what they are not saying that speaks volumes.

All that matters now is how much time and how much money does Aventurine have left.

We finally know what the game actually currently is, will they be forced or decide to release this by the end of the month.

Or do they still have enough time and money or the will to delay again.

I personally hope they do release this month because it will finally be the end to this whole sorry saga once and for all.

And we will all hopefully finally get to play at least something after all these years.

In my opinion If they do delay again it will just be a postponement of the inevitable.

/yawns Its funny how all the fans protect a game that hasnt really showed much at all. Everything they do is limited. god this game keeps getting more amusing every year.

You've been saying this for years now, and DF continues to gather momentum, releases more and more media, gets more publicity, etc.

How many times do you need to be wrong about just about everything before you realise you should just go out and try making some friends?

Umm... do you not find the part I high-lighted above even slightly IRONIC?

If for no other reason that he is ABLE to say the same things for YEARS...

You would think that the money is not endless. Adventurine is not funded by Bill Gates or Donald Trump, and even those guys would cut off funding eventually.

Most game release when the money runs out, finished or not.

This definitely happened to Vanguard. It was either you release now, or you don't release, 'cause the money is gone and you aren't getting any more.

Yes, it will be interesting to see if some of the "old-time" mechanics hold the same nostalgia once we get to experience them again.

I liked some of the experiences I had from back in UO and EQ... but other things drove me absolutely crazy.  Hence the reason I moved past those games.

From UO I understood but still didn't like the drag and drop looting.  I anticipate me liking it about the same in DarkFall... which means I won't.   My choice though and since I know what I'm getting into it's not like it will be a surprise.

From EQ I couldn't stand the sit down and stare at your book to recover mana.  They did change that eventually though.  I also didn't like the play word search to find just the right phrase that the NPC was looking for with the quest dialogue... that was eventually changed as well.

I didn't mind the corpse runs though as it made you pay attention to what you were doing and where you were going.

So all in all... I still don't know what I will think of some of these old mechanics coming back again... as like all of us... I've aged a bit in the last 12 years.

Only way to know for sure is to try it... hopefully in either OPEN Beta or a Free Trial.

They are in a bit of a unique situation with DarkFall.  Not sure if I could find the quotes again, but at some point I remember them getting some sort of a grant or something that functioned like a grant from the Country of Greece.

Anyone else remember the details on that?  So, in part they do have a somewhat "endless" cash flow as long as Greece is subsidizing them, and/or Greece as a Country stays solvant.  I am not sure of the details or the timeline of that subsidized money though.

Perhaps someone else can find the quotes and/or fill in more of the details.

But you don't know for fact, that is the problem with evrything you type here

You make much noise for someone who have not the least inkling  about Beta ...

You full of hot air  as of lately but pretending to know. You so far off of the actual happening Beta its not funny anymore...

So what they are not telling us ..but is revealing to you...can you please get more clear on this Mr. self-appointed DF Beta expert ?

What money do they have left ?

So what do you know finally about the game we others do not know ?

NDA and turned off features for the testing needs (the testing method has given to us by official announcement before) explain everything you try to cover in the dust of  hot air you raised to mislead others..

You should start to voice opinions based about what Beta testers and sources actually saying and not plain and blunt ignoring them ? what about start to be honest with your voiced opinion ?
