I would seriously buy this game but cannot get answers.
The forum is useless for gaining information because everytime somebody posts a legitimate question regarding the release date, the post is either banned or not answered.
Going through previous posts from the developer side, I see a long line of obfuscations.
I then wrote to the company for information and I never recieved a reply. I can assume at this point that this company cannot be trusted to tell the truth about this software with reference to release date and that they have never been honest given all the information released thus far.
The reason this is frustrating is that the concept itself is specious: An "eve like" world where epic battles occur between 100's of players is not possible given the current technology. Blizzard's WOW suffered this realization early on when they nixed world PVP because servers simply cannot handle it.
My take? I believe they are lying to the public in order to re-tool what they realize was a wish list of features and in the end this will be released with a modicum of promised content and will be another sloppy, ill-concieved attempt to take gam,er's money away before they realize they are duped.

Dark Age of Camelot had 400 man battles in 2001. Not possible? No, just not attempted. Why bother when you just have to make a theme park MMO for some quick cash.

The forum is useless, and there is no good information right now to serve as a basis for you considering a purchase of Darkfall, which doesn't really matter given that we don't even know when it may be possible for you to consider a purchase of Darkfall.
Nothing you can really do right now, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Hopefully you'll get more information, eventually. I stopped holding my breath in '05.

If you searched the forums a little more carefully you would have read that the game will be released with a 14 day free trial from the day GO. So you don't need to worry about losing any money, if the game doesn't work for you, just don't play it. How more simple can they make it for you?

Pretty much.. why you think they are lying? What advantages they will get from lying to the hole market and not only to the community?
As said, you have the option to try the game before spending a single coin on it (the 14 day free trial isnt precise tho)
If there was some kind of pre-order or shirt selling, then we should be worried about loosing money. But hey, they have investors and are spending lotsa money on the development of the game, and until now they did not ask for a single dollar or euro from anyone but those investors? They still have their credibility, i dunno for how long, or they may be loosing it if they don't reach the 2008 official release.
You seriously can't buy this game right now, because it's not for sale at the moment.

They have said 2008, which seems unlikely to me now, but you never know.

So, there's going to be a Free Trial without purchasing it? That's VERY cool!
How are they going to distribute it - if they're going with a 14 day trial at launch it sounds as if they're retaining publication and ownership while planning to focus on digital distribution of the product. Sounds like a win-win to me.

It will be a piece that has escaped the notice of every "full-time" poster on this forum. I find it hard to believe that we all wouldn't have seen it by now.
Tasos has said time and time again... They HOPE to offer some sort of Free Trial, or some other way for players to try the game before they buy it. No mention of a 14-day trial, no mention of a promise, pretty much just the same language for everything... so yeah.
This is correct. Anyone trying to say something different is just flat out wrong.
Unless they have information that has not been made availible to the public yet, but im going to go with just being flat out wrong.

Didn't Tasos say that everyone will have a chance to play the game before they payed a penny for it? I seem to remember all sorts of supporters of Tasos throwing this in everyones face, saying that DF is so much better than other games because you will be able to test it before you buy it.
This has been an integral part of DF's allure for me. If it turns out there is no free testing before buying...I will be very wary indeed.
