At first for me it was that I could do what I couldnt in real life. That couldnt isnt really absolute, of course I can go out and kill few people with sword or gun, but minutes later there will be freaking ubers(police) to take me down.
Later it was lore. I just loved reading stories, doing quests....
After you do thousands of quests, read hundreds of stories, it starts to repeat... So a bit of pvp, pk and mass pvp. But once again it is just repeating you target hit f1,f2,f3 hundreds time, scream for heal or buffs and hit same buttons again.
So now I dont play any mmorpg with hope that any game will make something interesting. I would love AoC sieges but they simply pointless, of course ladder system, ranking and etc. would make it interesting, i just imagine feeling when you with your guild get to be Number1.
I play mostly to have a place where i can meet, play and compete with other people.
I'm 22. I live in a big city. I don't have a single place where i can go and meet people arround my age, or arround any age whatsoever. Thats my sad truth in my case.
At the moment nothing makes me play them. I've gone back to single player games and it has reminded me that mmos are just low quality single player games in massively multiplayer co-op mode. When games like Earthrise, Fallen Earth, Crusades and Darkfall come out I will have another look again because these titles appear to actually take advantage of the fact that they're online by allowing players to interact with each in a meaningful and realistic manner unlike the single player PvE rubbish we currently see saturating the market today.
Agreed with last guy. Nothing makes me play them (for anything longer then 1-2 months) since UO. So until we see some sandbox games, fug em all. nah mean?
