This is the STAP-1 Vehicle which is rewarded to you by doing short 20min 'quest', it involves zero combat.

So much for new vehicles only coming from the TCG ;)

Here's a screenshot of the Starport in Doaba Guerfel in the middle of a blizzard:

But it still does nothing to help crafters. Besides, if the TCG pod racer is still the fastest then there is still going to be a desire for it. Nothing really changes.

However I will say that this vehicle looks cool but personally I despise anything added to the game that is pre-ANH. If they couldn't do anything from ANH then I'd rather have seen something original.

But then again I don't think originality is the forte of this dev crew.

I think the main concern is that they're not being added as schems for crafters, what was the last vehicle added that a crafter could add to his stock? AV21?.. circa 2004? But along comes rewards, tcg loot cards and now there's probably more vehicles available as loot or rewards than there are craftable.

...The spread of secondary and latterly of tertiary education has created a large population of people, often with well developed literary and scholarly tastes, who have been educated far beyond their capacity to undertake analytical thought.

Actually I think the jet pack was the last "vehicle" added to the game. I have one but I don't care for it TBH, but I did like the idea of needing the parts to assemble inside the DWB.

    That was pretty cool!

My 'theory' on why this is a deed rather than a schematic is that they have to think about the players on the unpopulated servers. Imagine the disappointment when you receive your new STAP-1 schematic but can't find an engineer to craft it. . . there are not a lot of engineers running around these days even on populated servers. I have a tailor and an AS - basically for making mods.

But then you have to ask yourself why there are not many engineers to craft it in the first place.

This becomes an issue of whatever comes first - the chicken or the egg? If they made this a deed then I will certainly bet you'll begin to see more engineers appear. They need to give people a reason to be an engineer!

That chart is utterly worthless, according to that the swoop is the best vehicle in the game...  that's bullshit.

The original RotW Barc is faster, as is the AV21, both are noticably faster, aslo that AT-RT being one of the fastest vehicles in the game is just laughable... it looks absolutely ridiculous seeing that thing disappear over the horizon when you're following one on a swoop.

  • All I can say is that the "Holiday Special" and the NGE belong together.  I can't believe that they put (minimal) effort into "celebrating" what still is the low point of Star Wars, even worse than the prequel movies.

there ARE engineers, they just arent as prolific as the other traders. They make weapon attachments and pups so they are in need - i think they're just mostly alts.

I do agree with you though and have always argued against 'free gifts' starting with the BARC. Remember when the flash speeder came out? It was SOOOOO much slower than all the other vehicles so it wouldn't cut into their market. That was a good choice and should have been the norm moving forward.

Of course there are some engineers, but giving them things like deeds helps to ensure that they are prolific - and therefore creates a greater number of them and increases their availibity.

It simply gives them a greater purpose, and not just delegated to someones' 2nd toon.

see, the devs aren't completely deaf to player concerns:

yep, that's their new thing with loot schematics. You can deconstruct it and take it to a trader to have it recrafted and it always turns out better. My pistols went from 950dps to between 1125 - 1175 DPS and had an additional 'ranged crit chance' modifer on it.

Well I thought the combat in the pre-cu game was just as shit as it is right now, but at least it was functional, the current combat system is stuck between the CU and the original NGE, they need to shitcan that free aim bullshit already, drop the over the shoulder view, make target lock and auto attack work exactly as it did in the CU, get rid of that floaty feel avatars have now and give them some weight again... again like the CU, none of this tabbing target, hitting another key to lock onto it and having to hold a fucking key/mouse button just to attack, it's totally counter-intuitive. It actually feels like a game that's had 3 different combat systems overlayed, that's it's main problem and yet I don't see any intent on the devs part to rectify this. I mean... having to push the tilde key to open the radial menu.... even a nub developer fresh out of the education system could see that these systems are fucking terrible.

you must have missed my first article; here's a link: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/6/feature/2438/from//features.cfm/view/general

In it you will find all the necessary steps to turn off all those 'features' you mentioned and get it back to the pre-nge targeting and view. It won't cure the 'floaty feeling' but it will put it back to tab targeting and firing the special from the toolbar.

The NGE system was terrible - do yourself a favor and set it back to the pre-nge settings.

No I had someone talk me through all of that on the last vet trial, it still doesn't feel right... I just can't work out how SOE can manage to continue taking backwards steps, fair enough the target lock addition was implemented with the best of intentions but honestly.... if you can't do it properly, don't even bother trying, imo it actually made the game less playable, I even reverted back and used the crappy free aim because I got sick of the fact the target lock was so poorly implemented.

LOL. I don't know what you're talking about. You tab to a target or type /tar <name> or /assist <player>

then you hit your corresponding toolbar numbers to fire the attack. How is this different then pre-nge or nearly any other MMO?

Well I was obviously doing something wrong, I was unable to attack a target simply by tabbing it, I had to hotkey a target lock key.... also I couldn't set an auto attack, still had to hold the damn left mouse button down. So in essence I had 3 key pushes AND had to hold the damn LMB down for the duration of the fight to achieve the same result as simply right clicking a target in the CU or any other mmo for that matter. Of course with 30 minutes worth of fumbling with keymapping settings it may be possible to achieve the same result?  Either way it needs to be the default setting, expecting people that haven't played for over three years and more importantly... players that are totally new to the game to go through that messy procedure is completely ridiculous.

yeah, you're right, for a new player it would be terrible.

Anyway, there is only one default attack - you either hit the hotkey (think its 'Z' or something) or you double-click your target - that initiates the default / basic attack. Then you tab to a target and call specials from teh toolbar. It almost sounds as if you had manual aim turned on, chose a target, and then used target lock key?

I admit that I have my auto-attack macro'd on my nostromo speedpad so when  I call my first attack, it turns on auto-attack / default attack.
