thanks for the post Szark
Is the free to play client for North America too?
I only see a french and german client, so I guess that answers my question.
Very unbiased and objective report. I guess there's no filtering in MMORPG.org
If you are in North America ..it appears this is not for us. Acclaim is far from ready.Dated website...no download button.
Objective report?
You don't want to be informed that you can play the game now...?
mmk.

Is that a new site? Never heard of it.
Seems a little strange that MMORPG.com announced this one but not the German release a week ago? Are there just a ton of french players on the site but not german?
Hey guys, when you click on Download Full Client for Free and it goes to the redirection page, click the link Download quickly and it will bring you to the client download page.
I do like how they have been very creative with thier use of Free to Play....
You can only play for free in the starter zone... like the Trial of the Isle they did with EQ2. As long as you never wish to get past level 5, you can enjoy the game to your hearts content.
I don't understand what the problem is. They always stated there would be a starter zone for you to play and try the game with no charge.
Again your point is?
The countries under Acclaim can download the client from the main site but cannot create an account due to IP blocks. Acclaim community managers posted on the forums that as of today (the date Acclaim's closed beta was supposed to start) that they have yet to recieve the client.
That sucks. Oh well, have to be patient I guess.
Just to prevent confusion, this game is not free to play, unless you only plan to play until level 7. At that point your character gets level/loot/gold locked and you're not going to advance unless subscribe. It's more like they just started with a free trial for everyone.
Edited 'cause I worked it out.
Now just waiting...
Hey thanks for the helpful hint, got it -)

I got the game to work just fine and i'm from north america. Not sure what you guys are doing wrong...
Where did you got the game from, because I can't find it on Amazon.
Did you managed to play ? Becuase it shoud be some IP Blocks in place for IP from North America and most of Esten Europe.

That, by this definition... WoW (and most other MMO's) are Free to play as well. They have a way that you can try the game for no charge as well... we call these trails.... not Free to Play (which references games that are actually free to play).
Ya... I got in just fine. I just downloaded the client.. registered. and i'm in.
ok if you pay you can go past level 7? but does that work for North america? and is there an official release for North America? man i hate games that do that... Final fantasy XI came out in Japan a year before North America... that sucked... and now this?
Ah thanks for the headsup
where did you sign up? it couldnt have been acclaims site...

Exactly. Spellborn is just a bunch of bollocks. F2p till level 5 only ? What a load of crap. This has nothing to do with free to play. It's only a trial account, nothing more.
This is the worst f2p I have seen in the mmo industry. Much worse than even the cash shop games.
And on the website they tell you this :
"If you don't own a Box, you can create a Free2Play account at the same location and download the full client for FREE. In-game limitations will apply. "
Playing untill level 5 only for sure is an "ingame limitation". Hilarious.
It's nice for them to at least have some kind of trial at launch, many mmos don't do this. There's just no need to misslead the players about it. Just call it what it is, and not something else.
