Blind Faith?
First off id like to say that this isnt a troll post, i want this game to succeed. Please, only constructive criticism.
Alot of ppl believe that what the devs r saying is true. that everything is real and ingame. without word from ppl outside of the company and close friends of the devs.
How can someone blindly believe and have faith in something without solid evidence? please dont tell me u all forgot what happend to AoC. Half the features werent even in the game.
Even if the features r in (like WARs) how can u be so sure that all of them will work well? alot of ppl wont wait for them to be fixed they will just move on and abandon it.
I feel like its a never ending cycle, companies make a game, everyone gets hyped, fails, ppl move on and wait for the next 1. What makes u think that DF isnt like this?
Again dont get me wrong i would love this game to work, i just cant take it seriously with the last 2 games that screwed me over, and without soild proof.
So if the game fails ill see u guys in the next mmo forums to get all hyped up again.

Before i answer your point in your post...first let me say thank you for actually presenting your idea with some support to your arguement and in a rational way. So many people on this forum think they are "skeptics" when they are really just trolling and then go on about us calling them trolls. Anyways...
The big thing that makes me believe them, as compared to AoC for example, is what they are asking pre-release.
No Pre-orders.
No money of any kind.
A goal that we will be able to play before we pay.
A developer that some find arrogant, but i and others find honest and the way he speaks is no bs and doesn't sugar coat it like the "professional" companies of Funcom and Mythic etc.
That last one is pretty subjective, but the others aren't.
They have confidence in their game, no doubt about it...almost too much and people see it as arrogance.
But the bottom line is that they arent going for the quick buck, they are saying that the reviews of the game and the quality of the product will speak for itself.
If they offer no open beta or free trial, and ask for money before the NDA is lifter...then be worried.
But until then....the way they are planning to put their product out there before they start taking in money is why i trust them and they are so different than what AoC did.

well unless they have a open beta or a free trial i wont buy the game simple as that even if people say its good
Its easy ..and i see it everyday on every occasion and with every person on the world basing his actions on faith ...
I even don't wanna go into philosophical discussion..like the sun example ( even you don't have evidence of the sun rising tomorrow you going to sleep expecting the sun will rise tomorrow , even you never saw "Malabo" yourself you find it not difficult to believet it if you read on it )
So lets say you a soccer fan of ManU ...someone ask you will they win next saturday game and you say "of Course" ..was it "blind faith" ?

Well, since the DF devs won´t take my money before I can try the game out (that is what they said), I don´t see why I shouldn´t trust them.
They get nothing out of lying and I don´t loose anything beliving them.
Simple, isn´t it?
Just because you´ve been bend over from other developers don´t make all of them lying moneyloving shitheads.

What makes you think, that whoever follow DF is driven by Blind Faith.
Is it now a crime hoping that someone is developing your ideal game?
Really, what is the point of your thread?
The DF fans are no under any illusion that the game might fail............but it might not.
Is it wrong giving the game the benefit of the doubt?
Or are we now judging before the trial?

When we are talking about the features in game while we play Darkfall and how Mortal Online may also be another great game in the same kind of genre and comparing the games constructively?

I think watching people make posts like this is more satisfying than if they just admited and said hey ive been wrong about saying Darkfall will never release. Oh well, thanks for the bump and continued hyping of the game Dame.

I think I know why. You can't really know if a list of features makes a fun game, until you play the game and see how those features are implemented.
For example, a developer says, you can build a city! and player think awesome! I'd love to build a city in a game!
But is it fun? Depends on what you have to do to build that city.
The reason people don't dwell on this, and just think, hey that's the list of features I want, teh game will be great! is because they imagine those features will be put in place the way they would like them to be.
It's obvious that some people have almost opposite ideas of how a feature will work, and both people are waiting on the greatest game ever. But one of them has to be wrong.
Some posts, this features is great, because it's gonna be like THIS.
And someone else posts, the same feature is great, because it's gonna be like THAT.
what possibly justified your notion that MO is going to be better than DF? Sure MO is going to blow DF out of the water graphically, but graphics means nothing in the world of mmos, as long as the graphics are decent its cool.
And if you care that much about perceptions, MO seems A LOT more shady than DF on several levels, but who know MO might end up being a better game, it may not, I don't know and neither do you. Don't judge before the trial.
EDIT: at above poster, don't mean to be a DF fanboy b/c it really pissed me off b/c of the realization that the US launch could be FAAAAR after the Eu launch, god f#ck you aventurine.... but some features are very straightforward and have to be good things,
please tell me how fps real time combat is bad, how real stealth is bad, and how advanced AI is bad? :P

People see what they want to see but since your smart person as your post shows you know this already i am sure. The only problem or not a problem as we all make problems for ourselves is that many dont know that or are not aware of it. I made simmiliar topic here when i first came on this forums because i was really curious why this game is so hyped on mmorpg.com without anything to back it up except words. Words dont make a good game sadly. They might want to wish or do best for the game but the question is are they going to do it. THey might want to give us free trial or whatever but the question is are we going to like it. I mean really everyone had a chance to get into aoc beta or war open beta, they all thought what they presented is enough to get people inside the game, so does Aventurine, the question is will that be good enough? That is what we are about to see after january ends, so far i dont see really anything and again anything to back it up.

Well dunno if it will surprise you but i ll try to defend your "DarkFall is a Religion" statement ..
Not like in "coming of second christ " garbage ..more as in "blind faith" like in the topic subject..
It is true that something like a invisible "pact" must be bind DF devs and supporters this game for that long together. This "pact" is based on features most of the time in the history of the game were stocked in journals as text ...
The pact meant on devs side to deliver whats written on paper and on the fans side to wait for those ...
Now that is just usual in all games but the development cycle on DF was a bit longer ...
So the "blind" part of the faith is somewhat true because a very long time not much was presented to give a "witness" as to the eye feel to the fans...
So why that is justified ?
First and foremost "the holy bible" so to speak to remain in lore
Whats is written in stone (ehm on online journals ) is just amazing stuff ..worthy for to praise DF higher then mostly of the other stuff floating around...
Then the "disciples of that cult" (again to remain in lore) as being the devs..acting like the stuff that they preach ...don't hyping around the media landscape , keep to the strict settings and don't change core features....
And the "believers" as the fans, being the ones that don't fall on weaker promises of other "false prophecys" games (as the upcoming MMO herectics starting with WoW) and stay true to the "pure " MMO..
Whats left is the final "salvation" as in the release we did get an announcement today from our disciples of the pure MMO...
