Hi everyone!
I'm not very used to MMORPGs because the only one i ever played was Star wars Galaxies und the lineage 2 beta which have lost thier fun after 2 month. But i feel like giving another MMORPG a chance. Now i'm wondering which one to choose. There haven't been any new games released for the last month except city of heroes, which isn't my scenario, and the release of WoW or EQ2 ist too far away. Saga of Ryzom is released in a few days, but i fear it'll be dead in a few weeks, because i couldn't even find one Discussion board wit´h an active community. I can't paly FF11 either, because i don't own a credit card. Now i was wondering if it would be any fun to join a MMORPG that's a little older, like Anachry online, DaoC, perhaps Everquest 1. Would this be any fun or do you think i will not find low level characters to play with and since i am not familliar to the game won't be able to understand all the pro-hardcore-gamers who just try to max thier character?
Thanks for your answers, sorry for misstakes my english is not really good...
greetings

I can recommend both DAoC and Anarchy online...they have both been around some time and got lots of content to explore.
Take it slow, enjoy the game and the quests, dont rush it...bring some friends.
The downside with old games are that there sometimes seem to be a lack of a community for lowlevel players. All the people that have played it for a long time just rush through the lower levels. In DAoC there even is a command to instantly make a new character lvl20 if you already got a level 50 char.
DAoC have a tendency to get slow...but if you're not in a rush and have a couple of friends to join in that wont be a problem. Join a guild once you have gotten towards higher levels.
Anarchy online is proberbly the same, although I havent played it that much. Try hook up with some friends or joining a n00b friendly guild.
Read the post knowing that I am pro-DAoC...

Have to agree give EVE-Online a try loads of new players coming in all the time, just broke 10700+ (new record me thinks) on a single server.
There are many Corps (Corps as in clans/guilds) that will help a new player out bigtime if you wish, and the community is great.
I took a look at EVE, DAoC, and AO...
EVE doesn't really look liek a RPG to me, i don't think i'll enjoy it but thanks for the hint. I think if i have to decide between DAoC and AO i would choose DAoC because i really like fantasy settings. I'm only worried about what you hear from a lot of DAoC players who say that you won't find a party unless your character is powergaming only, has the best equipment best skills and so on...
You can play the Open Beta of Ryzom now. And there are communities everywhere.
Look at

Joining older mmorpgs has the advantage that most bugs are solved and these games mostly run stable. There will be lots of older players to help newbies into the game.
Disadvantages may be that many player already left that game and went on to newer ones/betas or that players are so high in levels and have lots of gameplay experience that a new player hasn't.

Life is too short to play bad games.
Saga of Ryzoms will fail...
They are releaseing with more problems than Horizons had, and more debt service. HZ went bankrupt, why won't ryzom?
Ryzoms is Horizons with better graphics.....Just as little content, just as many bugs.
How about Jumpgate??
The game has been there for at least 3 years... At the end of the month, it will celebrate it's 1000th day in service.

A very nice space simulator and RPG with a skill based flight system.
The NICE thing about the older MMORPGs is many of them are FREEEE to try out. You have nothing to lose finding out if you like them, and how much you like them.
EvE Online, Anarchy Online, Dark Age of Camelot, all still right now allow you to play them for FREE.
As for your credit card problem, try getting a Debt Card. It works simular as a Credit Card, but with no risk. And you can be any age to get one ( 13 or older. Maybe some states 18 or older.) Many games require Credit Card as ID, but then you can pay to play using other ways like Money Orders, Cash, Game Cards, Checks, PayPal, etc... (AO has the most ways to pay to play out of any MMORPG.)
