First time playing DDO, liked it!

I just completed the starter area yesterday!!! I rolled a cleric (warpriest). I am very impressed the game runs smooth. The game had High video settings selected and I changed to Ultra High and still runs smooth.

I was wondering if the the dungeons in the city are harder than the ones in the starter area. I played solo most of the time and didn't even have to heal myself because mobs fall very fast and the dungeons provide with rest areas.

Then later grouped with a buddy and went to a dungeon and we felt the mobs were too easy. Next time I will change the difficulty :)

I liked the dungeons very much. I never experienced going into a dungeon and having a story teller in some areas of it. Also the puzzles in some of the dungeons were a good addition.

Too bad I missed this game. I am playing in Argonnessen server (toon name is Aurelio)  and seems to be very well populated. The Auction NPC was crowded so that means there is economy going on lol.

    Welcome to Stormreach!

Yes the mobs do get harder, the puzzles get harder, the traps get nastier and the healing gets challenging. But that happens as you increase in levels.

If you like the Dungeon Master voice in the dungeons, wait until you get to the Delara quest line, it is Gary Gygax narrating.

    Welcome indeed!

Quests get a lot harder, in fact the first time while wading easily through weak Kobolds you find your first Ogre, that proceeds to squash you with what feels like one thump of its club, you realise things are going to change.

Up the difficulty, the quests can play very different. An Elite quest in theory adds +2 to the quests level, but in practice a quest two levels higher on Normal can often be easier.

p.s. When you get to the harbour search out the quest Stealthy Repossession, a quest where you have to avoid killing.

Welcome to Stormreach!  Yeah, Korthos Island was built to be easy, so you would have a learning curve.  They do get harder as you go on, with much more difficult puzzles and enemies and traps!

Thanks for giving the game a chance!

*laughs* Yeah that first Ogre in Waterworks is usually most new players first time finding out what it feels like to be on the other end of a butt-whupping..

The quests DO get harder and very  inventive. Just wait until you get to The Pit! You'll feel like you're playing the platformer from hell. Good fun!

Make sure you run Durk's Got a Secret. There is a club that falls there that is soooo very useful throughout the game. It's a Muckbane. Durk's is the only place it falls. You can use it to kill oozes, puddings, rust monsters, and Gelantious Cubes without damaging it. But don't hit any earth elementals with it. Clink on link to get an idea.

I think DDO is one of the best games out there, hands down. I played it for a long time, eventually grew tired of it. I won't be heading back as I played it for thousands of hours. That's not DDO's fault...I get sick of MMOs after a few months, DDO kept me interested for a year and a half.  I always put it at the top of my list for most recommended MMOs.
