The Trail Ahead
As some of you may know, a potential investor has come forward expressing interest in this project. I'm happy to announce that this process is still moving forward. 2009 may be the year we move from pre-production to full production. As many of you know, the trail has been long and filled with uncertainty. We have witnessed this community change three times since 2002. Many of you have participated in key discussions that have helped shape and/or re-direct key features and their outcomes. This community has stood a long test of persistence, and is the primary reason why we press on.
Changes up ahead in 2009
Our name may officially change from the working title 'Frontier 1859' to 'The Wild Frontier.' Even if this happens, we are still maintaining the 'authentic' rather than 'historically accurate' climate that we set out to build from the very beginning. Some mechanisms that increase social & friend play will be incorporated, in order to arrive where social networking in virtual worlds is going. But this is not unlike the many wagons that once met together along the trail in order to traverse west to Oregon, nor the several Indian Nations that gathered together in order to survive. While some conventions may change, the core precept of this project is what attracted everyone here in the first place, and those precepts work in this survival action-adventure role playing game environment.
In any case, the community will be updated as information is released, and focused Discussion will press on for any gray area features/changes.
