Even when the game comes out people will still say its VaporWare. (a few 100 screen shots, over a hour of game vids, and it comes out on the 22 of next month. Unquestionably vaporware..)

Well lets keep it rolling. The DF boys should not be allowed to scam our community.

    /sigh another one...

    This is really boring .

Once for for the guys on the short bus...

You have given Aventurine no money.

You can see the game before you buy the game.

    There obviously is no scam.

They have no obligation to you.

They have to only meet their own targets and dates.

Those that support and anticipate DF hurt noone. We only want to talk about the game.

The fail of DF can only mean less grassroots niche developers, and less diversity and passion in game design.

There is no crusade to be fought here, only useless trolling.

The point of people 'trolling' the DF forums is to criticise the game, if there was nothing to critiicise there would be no trolls.

I'm sorry, but thats a very naive thing to think.

The vast majority of posts around here stopped being about DF a long time ago. They are dressed up as DF posts sure, but it dosent take a pyschologist to see what motivates the hateboys.

I've been anti-DF for while now, pretty much because the developers are way too quiet on the game...

     Eh?

You actually admit to being 'anti-DF' because Aventurine didnt meet you expectations of how much they should talk to you?

Not based on the game itself, what the company is trying to achieve as an indie, or what it represents to grassroots niche gaming?

Man, thats a thin reason to be 'pretty much anti' anything...

You honestly want this game to fail because you feel that the devs 'ignored' you?

I ask that again, because it boggles me tbh...

Tell me, as an adult, why would I take you at all seriously as a poster ever again after admitting that?

not given me enough detailed information about the game play mechanics

We have SO MUCH information about the gameplay mechanics and apart from city building, there's information out there about nearly every single aspect of the game. What else do you want? Skill lists? Possible character builds from the start? You know... there was a time when players actually enjoyed exploring a new game instead of planning how to "play efficiently" before the game is even out.

and I am not willing to simply take their word that these game play mechanics will be good, therefore I am criticizing the game.

Well, what do you base your critism on then? What about: Just wait and see? How do you criticize something when you don't believe a word about it is true. If I don't believe your restaurant exists, I'm not standing in front of its door everyday and telling bypassers that the restaurant will never open - I ignore it and might have a look every half year whether the restaurant released or not. And if you don't release the restaurant... well, I'm not gonna be angry at you, I just go find another restaurant (it's not like there aren't any other restaurants)

Sort of like you said, I'm going to open a restaurant, and it will have really good food, and someone asked, what's going to be on the menu exactly? And the reply was, excellent food, the best ever. Some gourmet food, some not so gourmet food, very different from other restaruants, but very good.

As I said above, I'd wait and see. It's not like I have to stand in front of your restaurant all day. I can take a look once in a while, but I'm not gonna post bills in front of the restaurant that it won't ever open anyway. What would I possibly gain from an action like that?

Besides, the Darkfall DEVs haven't just said their game will be great but given a detailed information about the game and released more than one hour footage.

Some people might say, well, they will probably serve excellent steaks there, and I love steak, so I can't wait to go (like the posters that are sure this game will be exactly like Darktide). Others might say, well, they'll probably serve Indian food, adn thats' to spicy for me, I'm sure I won't like it. I asked them if they will serve Indian food, and they said, well we've told you already we will have excellent cuisine, and that should be enough, you'll just have to wait until we open. that confirms it for me, they will definitely be an Indian restaruant.

So you tell me you don't know that Darkfall is an open PvP FFA game with no classes, no levels and citybuilding? Great job on researching, really.

None of it matters.  All of us will know on the 22nd of January just how well the game stacks up.  There's not even a point in discussing the issue, no matter what side of the fence you stand on.

But there is a point my friend!

If as usual they announce yet another delay, the fanboys will be comiing up with all kinds of excuses and the "vaporware believers" will all say "I told you so" yet once again............When will this drama ever end?  SO the sage of DF will continue and continue and continue and................

Show me the money and I will forever shut the "F" up but unitl then I will continue to be amongst the non-believers and defend all MMO players from being lied to like we were with AoC, Warhammer and the likes..........

Its worse to actually think about doing something then actually doing it!!!

That is correct. From what I have read, I do not know that Darkfall will be a clone of the Darktide servers.

I'm not disagreeing with your stance. In my personal opinion, I have serious doubts about the quality and content of Darkfall (I guess I would be labeled amongst the skeptics), and of course, the manner in which information about this game has been brought to light.  If my skepticism makes me a troll, fine.  It is difficult for me to fathom that this game will be as magnificent as people claim (not that I don't harbor hope that it will be).

Many others, of course, vehemently oppose that this game is lacking in any manner whatsoever. The debates and arguments on these forums carried out as though people are taking comments by forumgoers personally. You would have to admit though, this is a great source of entertainment.

However, it is also my belief, that if they miss this release date, there are going to be some serious issues. This is by far the most concrete and specific they have been about a release up to this point. If, in fact, they fail to make this date, I feel that it would create a significant backlash, extending beyond that of the previously failed dates.

Naturally, the drama will not cease if that is the case (heck, if the game isn't all it's cracked up to be, there probably won't be much of a lull in the constant flamewars that occur across the boards), and these ridiculous flamefests will continue.  After all, all of us want to be right.

My hope is that this game does release once and for all on the 22nd of January. If it does, we can finally put to bed the claims of Darkfall's greatness (or mediocrity).  In my previous statement, I was just asserting that I feel the game will make this release date (probably out of necessity).

I originally came from UO, and while I DO truly hope DF is all that they've promised.....I don't think I'll be playing, simply because the FFA style of PvP isn't REALLY the same as what we had in UO.  In UO, there was balance with that, and we were also allowed to insure our items, if we so desired.  I haven't heard anything about that sort of provision for DF.  I've also heard a lot of players that are just revelling in the idea of doing nothing but constant ganking.  UO had enough actual ROLEPLAY in it, along with consequences for your actions and decisions, that there was only a small percentage of the population that were just downright PK'ers.  STILL....when you wandered through the woods....you were VERY alert. :)   Ahhh....those were the good ol' days.

I don't think insuring items was there at first.

? are you saying you can't roleplay in DF. And btw, i can ASSURE you at first, it will be absolute CHAOS it will truly be nothing but a gankfest until people who want to use npc towns realize they are always getting killed by gaurds... things will settle down soon, but if you don't like the sound of a gankfest, wait a month b4 even playing your trial account

Ahhh you mean you came from UO Post-Trammel.

I came from UO pre-Trammel and yes DarkFall will be very similar. The FFA PvP isn't realy the same as what we had in UO. In UO there was no balance, you were either a murderer or an innocent. In DarkFall you can kill those outside of your faction without penalty so this should focus the FFA PvP which UO did not do. I agree with those that think DF will be a gank fest in the beggining though. Everyone is going to go nutz and get it out of there systems then the community will settle down lol.

I agree that UO encouraged RP, I just wish they had the tools that DF is said to have. Experiencing UO and reading up on DarkFall, it sounds like DarkFall will Dwarf UO in RP potential.

I never fall for the hype, im just waiting to see how it turns out, like I did for AoC, WAR, and several other MMOs. Other than WAR, all of them failed to keep my interest. And WAR too is now boring to me.

What I have learnt is... ALWAYS try a game before buying it. Always.

you know it's pretty philosophical...it's as weird as saying....if there were no wars...would we talk about peace?

Oups : about the subject...I wish good luck to DF... if it's a good game I will play if it's not I wont..that's pretty simple

Don't fall for the hype.

I'm so happy this is the first time I've read something like this.

Seriously, no one cares for your advice man. People that won't fall for the hype won't, and those who fall for the hype will. This post isn't going to shine light upon their faces until they say "WOW! My mind just got turned right back around"

It has it's first announced release date, hundreds of screenshots, several gameplay videos, a extensive list of beta tester quotes about the game, and an asston of info on every aspect of the game. Aswell as about 3 third party previews and impressions of the game.

Sorry, it being vaporware is out of the question. Now the question will be if it will pull off what it's promised. And for the time being, I see no reason to doubt them.
