Was up ppl. I'm finally going to start playin WoW and I'm lookin 4 a smaller, not so crowded, mature server. Im a rebel and I always rebel against anything mainstream so havent played WoW yet (well I did play a free trial 4 a few days but I didnt really give it a fair shot). So normally I play LotRO and I love the community, and ppl are always talkin shit on WoWs community, but as I know there are tards everywhere. Anyways, Im 25 years old and Im lookin 4 a server (or realm) that has a more mature base, I love PvE, PvP, and I will be lookin to get into an active guild. I run a Kin on lotro and I have some cool ppl that'll hold it down while Im gone. I havent created a toon yet but I will soon and Im gonna go with Alliance, not sure what race but I think Ima make a Palladin ( is that human only?? lol). If any guilds would like to take me in I dont like any suber-uber bosey guilds ( I like to have fun and work together, not be told what to do, but I love good advice). I play an MMO from anywhere between 4 and 10 hours a day (sometimes an all-nighter on weekends with a baddass raid!) and sometimes I dont play for a week. I love music, mostly punk

, I have a great, non-conservative sinse of humor and I dont take the game too seriously (cept when it gets serious, like in a raid), I have great teamwork and I really learn how to use my toon classes or is that proffesions in WoW, Im used to LotRO.
So anyway, my main question is.....Which server is mature and not so populated?? (my main reason is my PC is kinda low-end at the moment and I might get kinda laggy)

I would not suggest going to a smaller server. Even though the content has been made easier, i would think most wont see it in a smaller server
There are mature people in every server, you just have to go out and look for them.
WoW and Maturity are antonyms.
try the server grizzly hills. its new and no one can transfer toons onto it yet so if you want a smaller community this might be the one for you
I don't think any server on any game would be able to house only maturity, but I would recommend going roleplay server (if you are in fact roleplay). Having played many, I tend to gravitate towards Farstriders, though there are low rp servers like Scryers or Steamwheedle Cartel. My recommendation is to find a mature guild. Then you can leave all the general channels and hang with them.

Don't worry too much about the community levelling up, the real social delights from WoW come from your guild at the end game, or near the end game.
On all realm you will find certain guilds require a high level of maturity, ones that swiftly remove any obvious trouble. Joining one of these should be your goal - not a guild some guy created just because he wanted a cool tabbard. Once you're part of a regular, active guild the background noise of the realm feels kind of muted.
Make friends and mingle with people with similar ideals to you, and your game experience will be boosted ten-fold.

I play on Fenris, which is one of the lower population servers (although we do have a queue now and then). I don't think any server is going to be more mature than any other server (on average), it's all about finding a decent guild.
My friends and I run a guild called Twilight Prophecy that is for newer players ( a safe place to ask a lot of questions and get a little help), we also have a seperate endgame raiding guild.
Come to URSIN. We're a fun group. Good people on both sides.
Thanx 4 all the help and suggestions people. Your all right. I'm getting to know a few cool people so far on the realm I joined (Black Dragonflight), and I'm really liking the community so far. You know alot of people talk shit on WoW's community, but damn! its huge of course theres gonna be some idiots. I find if you dont participate in the dumbshit, theres a bunch of cool people right there with you. Great game tho, so far I know why its the most popular MMO. I just cant wait to find a good guild to do some BG, arena and raiding.

OH MY GOD! Congratulations. You have just joined the most immature, obnoxious and arrogant server in the whole of the North American servers. You dont believe me?
Look at their forums. Especially look for a guild called Loot Crusade and their leader Sikk. I'll give you a little taste of what BDF is about. media.putfile.com/sikk-boom . (EXTREME LANGUAGE WARNING. Do not listen in front of children or public place) Oh, you think someone like Sikk is disliked on BDF? Nope, hes pretty much reverred as a hero and the Champion of WoW. Hope you didn't roll Horde. Its mandatory for all horde BDF to worship the guy. I couldn't find the vent recording of Sikk in a Gruul's Lair pug abusing a girl and shouting "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?". Check out the guild Forgotten Heroes and a charming fellow by the name of Balro - the self confessed greatest hunter in all of WoW.
How do I know what about BDF? I took the PvE to PvP transfer on my paladin from Hyjal back in 2006. I stayed on BDF for over 2 years but got off when the idiots got too much.
But most of all enjoy their forums forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html . Enjoy the fascinating and mature thread about Buddhist (famous for his pvp videos) and Ingy. Enjoy the trolling and drama that BDF provides.
Enjoy joining pugs for raids only to have the raid leader switch to master loot and giving all the loot to his friends and then laughing about it. Enjoy having the BDF community condone that sort of behaviour.
Sorry to tell you this, but you just made the worst mistake you'll ever make in WoW. Hope it didnt cost you too much money
Sure, there are decent people on BDF. But most of them have transferred off but theres still a few. But if you're looking for a mature server, you could virtually pick any other small-medium sized North American realm and be better off.

Floppy, it should be a well known WoW (and really any game) rule, that you can't judge a server by its forums. Forums are notorious for bringing out all the bozos and trolls that have nothing better to do than creating drama where it isn't needed. The server I used to play on was actually quite good, but if you went to the forums it could be just as stupid as any other (although not as bad as the General Forum..that place is terrible).

The problem is that the today's kids are groing up without any respect for other people especial for adults....u have to change the real world for it...wow is a nice game but because the low entrance u will catch ignorant pubers over and over again...
In eve-online the age is a bit higher from 20-60. Give it a try for some months if u like sci-fi mmo's.
Did you even listen to those vent recordings of Sikk? Sure, there are a-holes on every server but not every server worships them as heroes.
Firstly punkrok42060 I played on 4 different realms during my 3.5 years of WoW. While BDF was good at the start by the end of it after 2 years it was the worst server by a massive margin. And I still keep in touch with quite a few BDF'ers and I still know whats going on in the realm. Actually, I would know more about what is happening on BDF right now than you do and my subscription has been inactive for a couple of weeks now. Any server is going to seem pretty good when you just start off and you're levelling. But if you want decent guilds that aren't elistist, drama filled and dominated by young kids then look elsewhere.
I took the infamous "Fires of Heaven" transfer back when BDF was opened. (at the time PvE to PvP transfers were VERY rare and most people believe it was done because a WoW developer plays in Fires of Heaven and that they wanted to move from Hyjal a PvE realm to a PvP). I was on BDF from day one. Even though it was a PvP realm it was only initially open to transfers from 4 PvE realms, Hyjal, Lightbringer and 2 others I dont remember. So basically it was a bunch of PvE'ers on a PvP realm so thats what was reflected.
The amount of guild drama compared to other realms I have played on is mind staggering. I could write a book about how elitist, arrogant, drama filled the guilds on BDF are. Sure most realms have some of those type of guilds. But virtually all alliance side raiding guilds currently are not the sort of guilds I personally would want to be associated with since I consider myself a fair and mature person. I'll give you one little example. Some members from a guild called Zealous who led a 25 man raid on Archavon only to master loot all the loot to themselves. Sure, that happens on every realm but from the 2nd most progressed Alliance guild?(they were 3rd but one of the few half-decent raiding guilds Lawn Pirates just imploded) But this guild has done it numerous times. And their justification? That the other members in the raid were from "scrub" guilds who have terrible progression and didnt deserve it. This stuff happens ALL the time on BDF. As I said it happens on other realms too but usually those people doing it get a bad rep. Nope, not on BDF. If you aren't in a top raiding guild you're worse than dirt. And I'm sure some genius will point out how a lot of realms are like that. But I can guarantee you that a lot of realms are NOT like that.
If you dont care about endgame raiding or high end PvP then fine. You can find a few nice people to stay in a small guild. But in that case you can do that on ANY realm so why bother asking for a mature realm?
There are some decent guilds. Horde side have a couple. Alliance side has a few decent casual raiding guilds. But what I found was a lot of the casual raiding guilds struggled to keep a decent raiding roster and to have any sort of steady progression. On BDF it was hardcore of gtfo. When I transferred off BDF I found a nice raiding guild of mature people that was also pretty good. Something I was unable to do on BDF. I could find good guilds that were obnoxious or nice guilds that were bad a raiding.
I can recommend the RP-PvP realm Lightninghoof as I had a couple of friends from BDF transfer there to get away from the asshats but still be on a PvP realm (I transferred back to a PvE realm)

Its just not theres anyonmous trolls and idiots on the BDF or a few kids attention seeking. Its the constant crap posted by the players from the top raiding guilds and people who have been on the realm for awhile and play a lot. The constant pissing contests, arguments, belittling other guilds on progression, insulting them for being "baddies". Just mocking people constantly for their UI, mods, arena ratings as well as their gear. Infact, BDF reminds me of general forums.
Actually, I transferred back to a Normal from after I left BDF. The forums on this realm are dead. Its just guild recruitment posts. The forums are actually very boring. And you can say that reflects the server. It was hardly the best progressed server in terms of PvP and PvE but it was much more drama free.
Not sure what you're trying to get at with the first sentence, but as an "outsider looking in" BDF's forums don't look very bad, even comparing them to similar servers. As for the next paragraph, all I can say is..it's a PvP server, and what do you honestly expect? Every PvP server I've been on, an nearly every PvP player I've encountered has acted like this. One of the points of PvP is to kick butt and take names, be the best, etc..naturally the attitude is going to follow and spill onto the forums where everyone tries to one up the other. And that right there is probably a part of why the forums for your new server seem so very different.
