*This thread was created to show and explain some of the game play in Aion: The Tower of Eternity. I am not a master player of Aion, nor have I ever claimed to me, I am just here to show the game player to player. Please, do not post asking where to download the game or when the release date is since those topics were already discussed in other threads. Please, do not insult others in this thread or try to bring up pointless arguments

I have decided to make a threat completely dedicated to the game play in Aion, some of the photos and text you see in this thread may have been used in other threads.

Everything said in this thread may not be completely correct especially when the game is being played with korean language.

When you die you can buy some of your experience points back from this NPC the amount at the bottom of the screen on the experience bar you can buy back is the lightly shaded blue color

There is also the option to teleport over great distances from this NPC. The different areas you are at give you different options as to where you decide to teleport.

Once you pick the location you want to travel to the NPC opens up a portal that you automatically jump inside.

Everything you fight can be knocked down from player to Monster.

There may only look like a few skills are available on my skill bar, but there are combination skills that are used with other skills. The combination skills appear on the bar when they are ready for use in battle.

 

Look at the skill on bar number 1

 

When skill 1 is used another skill is available you can see the new skill appear over the old skill 1

And once more

Once you kill a monster there will be a blue glow by them to show that you have not yet checked for items.

Most monsters do have skills of their own that they use against you. You can see the monsters skill charging up near the top middle of the screen

Notice how skill 3 is shaded out meaning you are unable to use the skill at the time

Some skills are only used with divine points. Divine points are the green bar located to the lower left of the screen under the HP and MP bar. There are three bars for divine points once one is filled up the other one will begin. When your divine meter is full you start to glow the higher your meter is the more intense the glowing will be in this case the meter is only at one so you can hardly see the green glow in the middle of his body.

Now that the divine meter is filled skill number 3 opens and is ready for use. Divine skills are very powerful and unique here is a divine skill being used.

Now the divine meter is almost empty the skills do take a lot of points to use, but are worth it. Your meter fills up everytime you kill something.

Thanks for the updates. On the surface this game seems to be a good mixture of PVP and PVE with good graphics and gameplay. It seems like it borrows the positives from a number of games and adds a couple of interesting twists. I for one am cautiously optimistic about this game. For me I dont care if it borrows or not from other games. It all just comes down to if I like the classes and the feel of the world when I am playing. If its like EQ2 where I spend most of my time just running fetch quests all over the place with loading zones everywhere, then thats not good. If its like Lord of the Rings Online where you have good graphics, good storyline, but I just cant find a good magic class I like and tire of killing the same monster through 40 levels (Wargs), then thats not good. If it relies like Warhammer soley on population (though I am enjoying Warhammer for now and the game continues to improve), thats not good. If it becomes like WOW (which had me addicted for 3 years) where the only added content is just doing the same exact thing but at higher levels, thats not good.  Im just looking for a fresh, fun new world with a mixture of PVE and PVP, a good User Interface, good graphics (does not have to be Age of Conan like), polished, a good community with many social options, interesting classes with interesting upgrades at least every other level (not like Warhammer where I have progressed from level 29 to level 38 as a Bright Wizard and only purchased one ability upgrade, a tactic, which I needed), then it may lure me in. Certaintly looks like this game is trying to do the right things. Time will tell.

I would have to agree with you on those points.  I feel the same as you but I would have to add one more thing to it.  If the customer support is crappy and always give you the run around or lie like Funcom then it is not good.

I was suprised that a lot of the korean players in the game spoke a little English. I met this little korean girl who asked me for help. We arrived at some kind of tomb to fight something. I never had any problems killing any monster in Aion before, I thought that it was just right for me as a gladiator I never realized that some of the other classes needed to be in a party to the point where solo became impossible if you look at the last photo you can see her explaining that she does die very easy and needs someone to take the hits. The point is if you do want to solo I would not recommend being a support class such as a healer.

 

What I found to be cool is on the aion website in Korea they show all characters something like world of warcraft. You can select each type of item and see what they are wearing with the exact stats. I wonder if they will have this for other releases? It was actually ran with java so the character was actually moving and you could turn him

How do you like Aion so far?

I've been waitng for this for, it reminds me of my favorite MMO FFXI.

what kind of community do you find in the game?  I find community to be a huge aspect of these games and it just seems to be disappearing recently.

I was amazed from the support I got from the Korean community. Even when I was speaking English people would come up to me and try to speak English to help me out. This one girl I met helped me for 40 minutes and had a difficult time understanding English. People seem to mind their own business and do their own thing since it is a huge game, but there are always friendly people looking for a party and will stop what they are doing just to assist you. Sometimes in games when someone is the at the level cap they just walk away or ignore you, but in Aion I never had a problem there was always support for me. Even during training when someone hit the monster I was training on they would leave after one hit since it was accidental.

It was said somewhere before that Aion may be FFXI visual successor I will post a photo below that a lot of people liked and thought was very beautiful. The game is like no other MMORPG I have played, very addictive, but you can take a break at any time. Quests are just perfect not too long to the point where you just want to get it over and not too short, I think I get about 8 new quests every few levels probably more. Just give Aion a try if you are not sure do not completely judge this game on photos and videos like I use to, but once I played it was completely different experience and I love it.

Do not forget to use the scroll bar on the image

I see no reason why they wouldnt be, the game looks very beautiful and peaceful and your just free to do what you please, it really sets a happy / good feeling emotion, so theres really not much of a reason to be a jerk.

I love your screenshots.  Thanks for all the details -- I'd been keeping one eye on Aion through the months, but I hadn't been too interested because I thought it was going to be FFA world PvP (I don't know why, I think I read that somewhere a long time ago) and I really am tired of gankfest-type things. However, As more screenshots and details about the game began filtering out through the months I got more and more piqued despite myself. Now that I've read about the actual PvP system they're implementing, my interest has soared and now I have both eyes on the game. Your screenshots and information about it have made me even more excited, heh.

After reading this thread iam even more excited....i really think this is gonna be what holds all the FF1X fan like myself until SoE releases thier new one, which is problly not until like 2010 or beyond.  So far i love the amount of character customazation...the amount of emotes available, the things your player does w/o touching the keybored.  This game is like If WoW and Final Fantasy where to have a child that was then adopted by lineage 2....they would call it Aion.

yes there is an AH, and will run on lesser hardware.

Did you test the game on different settings with lesser hardware? What is lesser hardware to you please explain.
