We question things in our own way. I do care about what "feature complete" means because making statements like that mean I should be able to learn whether or not I should spend my money now or save it for Darkfall's release when comparing other games.

You are missing the point that many are overhyped is due to being underserved as consumers.
Most of these overhyped people waiting on a new UO were never the same people hyped up for diku MMOs like Everquest.
UO and EQs' time are past, sure some of us loved them, but that was then, this is now. Hell most of the people I see preaching the Darkfall gospel didnt even play either of these games.

No big gaming company has, because it's all about the investors encouraging no risk taking to be innovative. So they jump on the bandwagon and copy already successful formulas to milk death with less risk to a nice fat profit. This has resulted in the MMO genre to stagnate to some degree. A lot of the big companies will be watching Darkfall closely to see how well Darkfall's dev teams formula is received. It's just like sheep. One dares to cross the road and succeeds and the rest follow. If Dark fall has success you can be sure at least one of the larger companies will throw their hat in the ring.

First off, we know 3 of the 4 games you listed above will not fail. They failed their projected NUMBERS, but they will not fail. If you say they will, then your credibility is gone. Period. They will live on quite awhile probably with Fan based subs. That much is known. Your pissing/not pissing doesnt make a difference.

Atleast Blizzard and 989 had a prior record for programming. I don't know nor care exactly what Aventurine had to do prior to moving on with MMO work but it's not like they are going to suck like college grads.

What Tasos has done is above average in pomposity with his and Brannoc's claim of "limitless freedom"; but Aventurine has not made the most boastful claims in the industry. Not even close.

Darkfall most likely will be a niche game not the next great MMO thus to many it will be seen as a failure. However, for me it might be the next great MMO thus to a few tens of thousands it will be seen as a success. Subjective is a great thing.

You are missing the point that many are overhyped is due to being underserved as consumers.
Most of these overhyped people waiting on a new UO were never the same people hyped up for diku MMOs like Everquest.
UO and EQs' time are past, sure some of us loved them, but that was then, this is now. Hell most of the people I see preaching the Darkfall gospel didnt even play either of these games.
Really if ANYONE out there thought these type of games would really be popular today, dont you think a more experienced company would have already thrown their hat in the ring?

No big gaming company has, because it's all about the investors encouraging no risk taking to be innovative. So they jump on the bandwagon and copy already successful formulas to milk death with less risk to a nice fat profit. This has resulted in the MMO genre to stagnate to some degree. A lot of the big companies will be watching Darkfall closely to see how well Darkfall's dev teams formula is received. It's just like sheep. One dares to cross the road and succeeds and the rest follow. If Dark fall has success you can be sure at least one of the larger companies will throw their hat in the ring.

First off, we know 3 of the 4 games you listed above will not fail. They failed their projected NUMBERS, but they will not fail. If you say they will, then your credibility is gone. Period. They will live on quite awhile probably with Fan based subs. That much is known. Your pissing/not pissing doesnt make a difference.
As been said many times before, this game is being compared with AoC, Vanguard, and War by people like you for reasons I have no idea. They have little similarities and are going after totally different markets. None of those 3 surviving games you mention above went after a 'hardcore' PvP market. DF is clearly going after that. The fact that you keep ignoring it is convienient for you, I guess.
They do not have to make a 'blockbuster' game to win over the MMO world as you keep thinking they do. They don't have to revolutionize anything. They just have to capture a small amount of the market that craves PvP. Got it? That's it. They don't need Mom, Dad and Aunt Jessie Mae and all the rest. If they can secure that, they won't go under. Thats all they want. Now even if they make the best PvP game ever, they STILL would not capture a huge part of Wow/War/Whatever.. why?

I don't know.. you've obviously gotten me confused with someone who's had access to his every word.
I follow bits/pieces of interesting games in development and planning or near release. I don't go for the PR stuff, which I found, this company didn't do a lot of. (found that refreshing)
But I don't know. Did he? If he did, you can get the press release and paste it if you'd like. It won't make much difference to me, cause if I had 1 dollar for everytime someone said "state of the art" this or "cutting edge" that, I'd be able to fund the U.S. Bailouts.
