So i'm wondering, What is everyones favorite four classes in MMORPG history and why?
My list would go:
1) Blue mage (FFXI)
I think this has to be one of the best classes in one of the worst MMOs for me, It's pretty much a jack of all trades, i could tank, DPS, Control aggro, And even main heal at times. Also you had to learn your spells from mobs who used em, and it was a fairly low chance at times, very rewarding. And by far by favorite hybrid.
2) Shadowknight (EQ2)
another one of my favorite hybrids, DPS, heals and tanking all in one. A very verstaile class, with alot to do.
3) Ninja (FFXI)
I've always had a thing for ninjas, so of course this had to be up there on my list, I loved being a "blink" tank, having to time my blinks, and even dual ninja groups. And taru ninjas are just cool looking
4) HoX (AoC)
Another one of my least favorite games, with a very fun class.

Rogue- WoW (love the way stealth works)
Bounty Hunter/Pistoleer- SWG pre-cu (I hardly ever lost a duel)
Necromancer- EQ1 (totally badass!)
Swashbuckler- EQ2 (love the AQ armor sets and the positional attacks)
those arent in any particular order!

EQ,SWG preCU,L2,EQ2,GW,CoH/CoV,V:SOH,
Aion,AoC,TR,WAR,EVE,BP,RIFT,WoW and others... no more!
1. Dominator - CoX
2. Engineer - TR
3. Mage - WoW
Nothing else really jumps out at me.
1) Enchanter (EQ1)
- enjoyed Crowd Control and buffing other players
2) Monk (EQ2)
- pummeling things with fists and sticks is fun
3) Mesmer (Guild Wars)
- all classes in GW have tons of versatility with many available skills,
but mesmers were especially fun for me
4) Warlock (WOW)
I liked the combination of being both a caster / pet class and being able to offer utility with debuffs
EQ2 fan sites
I mostly wants to be a guy in shining plate armor wielding a big er... shining sword.
Too bad that Blizzard nerfed my favorite class beyond oblivion.
Won't touch that game again until hell freezes over.
And SOE nerfed them too back in 2005.
Seems like every dev hates the Knight/Paladin/Crusader class.
Maybe they once got beat up by one or something?
None.
I can't stand classes in my games.
Armsman (DAoC)
Scout(DAoC)
Druid(Vanguard)
Ranger(Vanguard)
Darkfall Travelogues!
Berzerker (DAoC) - Till this day I have not played anything as fun as this. He embodied rage and just straight up raw power.
Rune Master (DAoC) - I liked mine especially since I made him a Kobold. Nothing like being one of the smallest characters in an open field but having the ability to blow them all out of the water if I so chose.
Gladiator (Lineage 2) - Was really the only L2 character I liked playing and even then it was short lived. However I did have fun while playing it.
Other then those I haven't really liked much of anything lately. I do wish that there were games that offered a "class free" game experience where I can mould my character into what I think it should be for me personaly.
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
1) Mesmer (GW)
Mesmer in any combination (Me/x and x/Me). Very interesting skills with impact if u use them right. + i liked the challenge playing primary mesmer.
2) Rogue (DDO)
Yep. I loved playing rogue when the trap locations weren't spoiled by some veteran grinder.
Other than that, there aren't really any other memorable classes in any other games i've played. ...peace!
I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been -Wayne Gretzky
1) Necromancer (DAoC).
2) Bonedancer (DAoC).
3) Hunter (WoW).
4) Black Orc (WAR).
Despite the pet pathing issues that plagued DAoC, their pet classes were by far some of the most fun I've had in any game to date. As you can see, I tend to favor pet classes in general, except the Black Orc which I listed because Orcs are my favorite race in any fantasy style game and they made tanking effective even in a PvP setting.

I'm probably alone on this but I love class based games. It adds structure I think.
My favorite four classes:
Warden (LOTRO) - Just a great fun class with a lot of strategy.
Commando (Tabula Rasa) - Nothing feels as fun as blowing the living crap out of stuff.
Witch Hunter (WAR) - I like the executions and accusation system. Fun clas
Engineer (WAR) - Another really fun class with the bombs and guns and what not.

Brute (City of Villains) - This right here is your ideal "Smash Stuff" class. It's effectively a DPS/tank hybrid, with high attack power and good defense, but low long-range capabilities. A fun class to play solo, but wonderful in groups where you can play ping-pong with enemy characters.
Musketeer (Sword of the New World) - An odd choice I know, but I genuinely enjoyed the musketeer character from this title. The high-damage, high accuracy character was a great in practice, although it does take some time for them to reload and their mobility wasn't so great.
RAcast (Phantasy Star Online) - This huge robot gunman is a personal favorite and is, I find, ideal for grouping. He can back up players from a distance, and is immune from paralysis and poison, and on top of that, he is able to not only use traps, but can see those already set up in the level. A powerful, and very handy character, and one that is also fairly newbie-friendly.
A-Gear (Space Cowboy/Ace Online) - Another odd choice, but one that I was quite fond of. While the other crafts in this game are high-flying, speedy fighters or bombers, the A-Gear amounted to a flying tank. As such, it was able to sit itself down on the ground and work as a ground-based turret, and it's high defense made for some interesting turtling tactics. An unconventional choice for players even within the game itself, but one that gave other players fits in the right hands.

Playing: Nothing
Played: Champions Online, CoX, STO, PSO, WoW, lots of free-to-play crap
Looking Forward To: DC Universe Online, Blade and Soul
1) Mercenary (DAOC)
2) Samurai (FFXI)
3) Warden (LOTRO)
4) Cleric (DAOC)
My ideal MMO class is a melee DPS. However, I don't like going down quickly, so stealthers are out of the question. But I also don't like being a heavy-armor class, because those often end up getting stuck tanking. So medium-type armor is my preference. The first three are easily my favorites, while Cleric is just there because it's my favorite healer in any MMO.
Has anyone ever noticed it all goes back to basic D&D. You have Fighters,Mages,Thiefs, and Clerics. Every class in every MMO falls under this category or a hybrid.
My absolute favorite classes from best to least would have to be...
1) Enchanter (EQ) I absolutely loved being pure support and crowd control. I haven't found a class in any other MMO that can replace the same level of crowd control as the enchanter.
2) Inquisitor (EQ2) I like this class because of the mix of healing support and debuffing. I really liked the reactive heals and the ability to spec battle cleric which let me do some decent soloing, but still be able to heal in a party (not speaking of endgame mind you)
3) Shaman (WoW) Shaman was the one and only class I did not get bored to tears from in WoW. I liked the versatility the class offered. I enjoyed all three specs and I especially loved Restoration in PvP with earthshield. I also enjoy the support it can offer to groups depending on your spec and totems.
4) Adventurer (AO) The adventurer was great because it was an excellent jack of all trades. I primarily went with duel swords and I heavily focused in my healing nanotechs. I like going into melee dishing some damage out and heal at the same time.
Overall I would have to say that I really enjoy either pure support classes, or Hybrid healers. I do not care for being straight dps because let's be honest. In the end DPS is not what keeps the party alive to fight another day.
Other classes I really enjoyed that didn't make the list in no particular order
Thane (DAoC)
Healer (DAoC)
Brute (CoV)
Warrior Priest (WAR)
Shaman (Vanguard)
Warlord (L2)
Paladin (EQ2)
Currently playing a Whitemage in FFXI but I haven't played long enough to put it on the list yet.
1 Lore-Master (lotro)
2 Ironbreaker (war)
3 Jedi(yes nge) (swg)
4 Rune Keeper looks cool but I have yet to play it (lotro)
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms
AMD 4800 2.4ghz-3GB RAM 533mhz-EVGA 9500GT 512mb-320gb HD
No particular order.
1.) Enchanter (EQ1) - Loved the ability to charm almost anything and solo stuff that only an enchanter could solo for good loot / money
2.) Monk (EQ1) - Oh you think you can come in and take what im camping...we'll see about that with this huge train that i feign death onto you.
3.) Mage (WoW) - Just so much fun
4.) Rogue (WoW) - I guess it was because I felt like I was just too damn good at this class and could destroy anyone
1) Master Mind (City of Villains)
I just simply love this class, the only downside (in my opinion) is the summoning at the beginning of each mission, that's what ruined it in the end for me.
2) Herald of Xotli (Age of Conan)
It's fire, it's melee and it's a spellcaster! how awesome is that? I just loved this new take on a mageclass.
3) Priest (World of warcraft)
Healing, it's what i do. I love to stand behind my group and keep them up while they fight the big fight.
4) Runekeeper (Lord of the rings online)
Again with the healing, this time allowing me to adapt to the fight incase damage is more needed then healing.
But yeah, support characters (preferably healing) is where i really feel the fun of games, it took me some time to find out, but now i'll never roll a main that isn't a healer.

No used-up archtype classes for me. Bring on the skill based games!
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
