What if the game is delayed again?
Its surprising how everyone beats the dead horse, df will fail, df will rock and so on... What about another delay? I can already see posts like
1. Better to polish it than release it until its done
2. War and Aoc and all other mmos delayed even longer
3.I will wait for my diamond until its ready because thats best for the game
and so on...
Its 1 month before release and game is still in alpha, i dont know how anyone can believe its actually a beta yet, just dont see it happening on jan 22. At least if they want to release tested game.

Like the above poster stated, the game is not in alpha. Currently it's in Closed Beta stages.

Boutique company is boutigue. They don't have a giant closed beta, so they don't have major leaks. They have small leaks, thus we can see that it isn't vaporware. They have a set release, not an aporximation. Lack of evidence is not evidence.

Your weather comparison doesnt make any sense. THere is not a single beta leak, there are no real tests at all and you really believe game is in good shape beta testing for release in 1 month? That is pure definition of blind optimism.

The developers "say" its coming out next month. Quite frankly, I hope it does. Well, on the other hand i kinda hope it wont. Can you imagine if this mmo doesn't meet these fans' expectations? Good lord. Wailing and gnashing of teeth and mourning will kill the lands.....and lots of cries and screams and those youtube videos where people are screaming at aventuring throwing down curses upon them in a child-like manner.
Either way, it wont be pretty.

Exactly that, i think some here just didnt experience this things before and just look at the pretty side how they want things to be. But to be reallistic its exactly like that. I think their forums would become a chaos after release so why would they release it
Honestly, whether they are in alpha or beta, or whether the game releases Jan 22. or not, does it really matter? If it releases and is a polished game with good content, then obviously people will play it and it will be a great success. Its not like fans that have waited 8 years for this game, not even knowing if it WAS a real game or just an idea for a great game, are going to be like " Oh gee another delay, to hell with darkfall i'm going to play Warhammer Online", that ain't happening. It will release sooner or later and when it does it will be judged by how immersive the gameplay is and how good the content is or isn't. End of Story.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside
Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.
if this game goes down the crapper like some MMOs has then these forums are going to be B-A-D. Self lamentation will pretty much dominate it for about four years.
People complaining about SWG's NGE? pfff.....nothing compared to the cries of humanity if Darkfall....well....falls.

God, I really hope it does release. I would guess mmorpg.com would like to milk the ad revenue from this debate forever (no offense to mmorpg, they have actually allowed this debate to continue, kudos).
BUT, I really want it to release. I predict, there will be no open beta-test. I predict there will be excuses of ping because Darkfall will not have a sufficient North American server (host). I predict all kinds of things. Exclusively, I predict there will be two months of hellfire on these forums because the three Darkfall "trolls" here will spend more time flaming the (again, hell) out of anyone who coughs when they actually get to play (I can see the forced FP/3rdP view being an immediate headache).
You say it won't be pretty? Mohammad Ali was pretty. This is going to be spectacular.

Well I do not mind if they fail to bring it out until March or even later as I am off in hospital for my back operation on the 05/01/09 and I have been told no sitting up for more than 30 minutes a day for six weeks so I am cool. However I am sure many other people will be whinning like spoilt kids that it failed to hit the retail date and we, er you will see all the complaints and trolling like it's the end of the world.
So as you can see it's no biggie for me as I have far more important things on my mind than an MMO being successful.

But when you say spoiled kids whinning I wasn't sure if you were talking about the trolls or the hopeful fans. I could see the trolls whinning and making a big deal out of another delay if it happens, but seeing the fans whinning.... I just dont see it. The fans have stuck by this game over the years even after the many delays. I think the majority of them will still do so IF it were to be delayed again. But, I dont think that would happen. Just saying
This is what most people seem to be missing, but I think you are exactly right. All most of us want is a game that rocks. If Darkfall does that, everything else will become inconsequential. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much because I have been let down before. But so far, I like what I am reading.

trust me its not just friends and family. thats already been proven tehre a few hundred fromt eh forums testing well at least 100-200 formt he forums the res tis problt the pro testers and some other people
