Back by popular demand, we're proud to announce that the Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign will launch on Thursday, December 18th, 2008.

This is great news for those who have been thinking of coming back with all the updates.  Also, if you already have come back and your character was created before May 28th, 2008 you can still get the Anniversary Band which is an awesome ring.  My suggestion is to only use it in higher level's though as it cuts the grind down considerably.

Great thing yeah, but I wanna know when is SE going to reward the loyal instead of trying to entice the people who leave. I have been around since just about NA inception. When do I get my: "Wow you have been around for 5 years now ... here have this as a gift to show you how much we care." Anniversary bands are great, but everyone gets them. If i wanna get anything unique I need to go buy something out of them game that I don't want. /sigh ... where is the .

Kind of funny but when i told people in my LS about this, their response was the same.  That is, when i told them "No, you dont get the ring".  It was pretty unanimous amongst the 15 people on at the time with the whole "What about us who have put in 12.95+ per month for the past 4 years?  Do i not get anything special for being a loyal customer?".  And i'd not thought about it before but makes sense.  It's great that we get the seasonal events and stuff like that and i guess we are lucky in that as paying subscriptions we will have event items that others cant get but, i'd like something nice for Player Appreciation coming up in May or June next year.

They really should be giving items to the devotees.  I'm fairly new to the game, but I know several people who have been playing for years.  The loyal gamers deserve the rewards.

 No, if you actually went and deleteed your character before cancelling your IDs you cannot get them back. my friend tarantules tried this but failed so taht was sad times.

I'd double check.  My friend deleted her character and tried to get it back a couple months later but she'd already leveld up a character using the Content ID associated to the character she wanted back.  She had worked hard to level the new character and was told she would have to delete it to get the old one back.  So, they can restore deleted characters, just not sure the time span.  Hers was really short.  Your results may vary.

It was a little over 2 years ago but i will try and if need be i will delete any character.

Me and my friends were looking into playing again but it has been well over 2 years since had had our characters, we never deleted them but we did give away all our +1 items and gil XD.

Do you think there would be a way  that if i reactivate my playonline account i could get my character back too?

I'm really glad to hear this news, my brother and I will be re-activating our accounts and returning to FFXI. Now I just gotta wait till Thursday.

I'm fishing anf leveling Whm to pass time i just really hope i can get my character back so i can hit 75 quickly and be able to hang out with my friend more. Also i want him back because i have done so much on him and very little on my current character i been playing.

2 years is an awful long time but you could try.  It's definately more likely since you didn't actually delete the characters.  I always tell people who quit to not do that.  Also, no matter how much you are sure you are going to quit, never ever ever ever ever evvveerrr give your stuff away.  Ever. Ever.  Because then when you do come back (and lets face it, you're going to most likely) you're stuck with crap.  Then you're going to get more upset about spending so much time farming to get new gear.  You worked hard for your stuff, keep it.  The first time I quit I was so sure I was done for good but my friend told me "Do not give your stuff away and do not delete your characters, you will regret it if you do" and he was dead on.

I left about 3 years ago, played WoW since then, but that game became so dumbed down (it already was too easy to manage around) that i don't feel like playing at all anymore. I've been thinking about coming back to this PoS game, but i would be so far behind that the simple thought of catching up 3 years of material, gear and cash simply is horrifying.

Would anyone have something to ease my fears?

Also, i need to find back all my PoL ID and such right? Old CC number and all? That might be a big probem if that's the case, i don't remember those things at all, been too long. Changed CC also, trashed my other one and my related bills alongside with it.

I know i'm being a bit dim but you have to resubscribe for this to take effect? i take it theres no free time involved at all?

 

Been up all night being ill and that little bit of info that OP doesnt really answer my questions..so be gentle with me

Well most offers of this sort usually involve some free time..SOE does it the time,Blizz arent averse to doing it either so thats why i asked

I see, i totally misunderstood what you meant then.  I thought would you have to log back into the game and reactivate the account.  That is a far less stupid question with your explanation now though lol.  Unfortunately though, no, no free time.  Outside of the 14 day trial they don't do this.

After carefully reading the info on retaining a deleted character i am eligibal to get it back i am so happy. Now i was planning on returning to Pandemonium but i have decided to stick with Bismarck because i joined a linkshell a few days ago that is not worth giving up. So instead of transfering 2 characters over to a server i will spend $25 to transfer 1 character and to me it is well worth it. Yes i do miss playing on Pandemonium but the fact is that only 2 people i knew from that server still play but are always doing endgame so i will stick with Bizmarck.

 

I have been psyched ever since hearing about this and now that i know i can get my character back just makes me so happy. So for anyone who deleted their character and are wanting to get it back choose option b.

 

Edit: Oh yeah seems like a lot of people are returning i am unable right now to get to step 2 I'm very anxious as i should be and not wanting to wait but i waited a few days i think i can wait a few more hours.

 

Edit: So yes i am able to restore my character its just super slow and keep getting errors due to the congestion.

First, welcome back.  Secondly, when you get on, give me a message.  

I hope that everything works out for you.  As much as i hate you're having problems i really do hope it's from the flood of people coming back.  SE is proving, just from what i've seen, that after 6 years is it not just as strong as it has been but actually starting to grow back.  This is crazy to think about as most MMO's dwindle down even if it's slowly.  To think that next census we could be looking at such a large increase in population it only bodes well for everyone.

Yeah i know 100% i can restore my character its on the list of characters that can i selected my character waited a few minutes and got an error now i am back at square one pretty upset about it. Now by square one i mean having to do the process from the start but not being able to get passed the agree/decline stage. I deleted Lexin today in order to make room for this character so it will be Lexin again just need to get him back and transfered.

 Anyone have any tips for getting around this:

 

I have ALL my PO info, the Username and Password as well ass ALL my registration codes.

 

However when I put them in, I'm told ALL THREE are incorrect.  However I'm completely able to log in to PlayOnline using the Username/Password combo (just am not able to reactive my contentID until I fill out the Return Home info)

What gives with this?  I'm completely eligible!
