As a lover of PvE and a loather of PvP (for various reasons), I'm interested in hearing reviews from current players regarding PvE in WAR. With the price dropping on the retail versions of the game and no games of interest coming out for approximately 2-3 years, I'm almost tempted to play WAR. Primarily due to being interested in the lore and to see where they've taken it. PvE is how I'd play the game, period. I daresay I'd never venture into PvP unless it were completely accidental, so please be specific and give me details as to why someone such as myself may just be interested in WAR and enjoy it.

This game is a hybrid, which means the player who does PvE AND PvP will get the greatest value. I'll say that now so you can accurately make a decision. While you can level and play entirely through PvE, I'll say that it's:
1) A little repetitive. But what game isn't? With the introduction of scaling PQs for each Chapter, to make them easier to solo, you won't always feel like it's a grind because if you solo you'll be able to complete them.
2) Get into the lore. It makes things ALOT better. If you're the SPAM CLICK ACCEPT BUTTON type of player for the quests, you'll end up coming back here and crying that the quests are all the standard boring quests and you didn't have fun. However, reading WHY you're doing what you're doing helps immensly. The quest text is disctinctive to each race and Mythic clearly put alot of work into it (Elves use big words, Dwarfs talk like they're dwarfs, and humans all have 16th century European accents).
3) As for dungeons and such, they're limited right now, but that's simply content and content can always be patched in. For the ones that are there now, I've found them to be challenging but fun (as long as you have a good group of course!) One con is the respawn times - mobs seem to respawn too fast, which can be a pain if you wipe, so make sure you keep your healers/rezzers alive. The dungeons (Gunbad at least) are split into little mini-PQ sections, usually with only 2 stages instead of 3, where stage 2 is the actual boss. Interesting system.
What I found this game can do is help those PvE players dip their toes in the PvP pool. Sure, they might still hate it, but if you build some realm pride you might venture out into that RvR lake once or twice. And you might find you like it. Sure, there's always going to be some cranky teenagers who say "YOU ALL SUCK ZOMG" but that's what the ignore list is for.
If you roll Order come to Azazel.
I can't recommend WAR to anyone based soley on the PVE. In my estimation WoW, LoTRO and EQ II all have better PVE. The PVE in WAR isn't terrible, just mediocre.
The PVP is the most consistent fun I've had in PvP in an MMO. Even in DAoC the PvP was hit or miss depending on the day. In WAR you can just about always find a fun battle. Absolutely perfect PVP set up for a casual player, and a very nice reward structure. However, if you plan to only play PVE WAR isn't such a good choice, imo.
Edit: If you do decide to try it I'd recommend Dwarf or Greenskin. Their PvE zones are a cut above most races.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
3/4th of the game is pvp, 1/4th is pve. so as you can see the pvp is a much bigger part of the game and is much better polished. i still like to do the pve but when i log in it isnt about how many quests im going to get done but how many hummies im going to kill
