Anyone have recommendations on games that allow you to create and customize your own character? I know there's Oblivion, but are there others that you would recommend? MMORPGs do this, but I'm looking for a single player RPG. I dont want something like the Witcher where the main character is pre determined.

Fallout 3 sounds about right.
Neverwinter Nights 2
Mass effect to an extent, you can't change your last name basically.
Oblivion of course, and Fallout 3
theirs probably more but I can't think of any of them atm
Thanks, I will try Fallout 3.
I am also considering KOTOR 1, if I can find a copy but here's the thing, I did not like Kotor 2, the combat was too easy and I didn't feel the world was very 'open' it seemed quite linear and you choose good/bad during the game. I never played Kotor though. I'm not a huge Bioware fan too to be honest.
If anyone has recommndations I'm all ears. I'm also trying to find a game kinda like Firefly, hire and manage a crew, and where you can have a character as well as a ship and run around space in an open world enviorment.
I also prefer lengthier games and games with more meat and depth. I will get bored easily if I can blow through the game in a matter of a weekend. I need more immersion and depth than that. Otherwise I will play it once and toss it aside and will feel like a waste.
I think there is also Fable II but I do not have a Xbox and never will.
In general I also prefer Fantasy games.
If you tried Kotor 2 and didn't like it you probably won't like Kotor 1, they both have that linear feel to it, and the combat is just as easy, unless you go into options and increase it yourself.
Fable 2 is for the PC as well isn't it? I'm not sure but I thought it was.
Fable II isn't for the PC... yet. I expect it will be sometime in the near future and rest assured when it does come on PC I will be buying it. I passed up on the first Fable though because I heard it wasn't quite what is was supposed to be, it was over in a matter of hours, and Fable II is really the game it should have been.
Thanks, and if anyone has recommendation with something that also has an anime feel or art style that would be awesome. I know you can mod Oblivion, but the mods can only do so much for this.
So far I will try Fallout 3. I've decided to pass on Kotor since a) I can't seem to find a copy and b) I didn't enjoy Kotor 2, and it was recommended against trying it if I didn't like the 2nd. I've also decided to pass on Mass Effect because I have heard bad things about the game length. It is also EA, and I also don't like to support the DRM stuff.
So I'm still kind of looking for a Space/Firelfy themed game along the lines of this and a fantasy game, preferbly with anime style.
Go for fallout 3 its a trully well amde game with a pretty decent charecter creation system thats similar to Oblivion exept it also has a selection of over 30 skills you can add to your guy later or ones you can find by completing secret tasks.
Also the game world is huge and detailed.
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981
Neverwinter nights 2 definetly has better customization than any of the games mentioned above.
I was excited about NWN2 until I saw the buggy mess it was unfortunately. I've never gone back.
