lets the things straight, a pinch of caution and critic is NOT hate...
What we need to learn is to pick the hate from the reality. Most fanboys think that any critic is ´hate´, and therefore it helps to hurt the game itself, for all critics help to improve the game in a way or another.
I think that Tasos is totally lost on it. A so secret beta test only means that there is no confidence in the game (specially so near the launch). The arrogance of the PR have been seen on PoBS, and we all know today the ´no crying on red circle´ mantra by now, and how PoBS is a joke nowdays... We dont want to that to happen on DFO, at least the ones who pursue the dream of a GOOD game, not the game itself (be it godd or bad).
DFO has an incridible concept, but the reality, today, teached us to be a little more... cautious... D&L. PoBS, AoC teached us a lesson... Great hype, arrogant devs and too promises with very low ´showing it up´ (like the marvelous PvP on battlekeeps, of AoC, the jewel of the crown, or the DX10, never show on beta but promised as ´certain´ until the launch) is a sign of great disaster... And all those points are HUGE on DFO.. (the hype on DFO is higher than the AoC, the arrogance of Tasos is far bigger than even the PoBS devs, and the secrecy of the main features we cant even start with, since we only knew of a ´ghost beta´, without even notices of ANYTHING, and VERY near the launch).
I am worried about it, everyday without notices of the beta (the real one, I mean) makes me a little more skeptical about DFO. Notice that I still love the game (the concept of it, I mean), and I really hope that ll those bad signs are only a terrible coincidence...

There's nothing to criticize now. there is a release date, and you would think that sometime before the release date of Jan 22, 2009, they will drop the NDA.
We're just in a holding pattern till the NDA drops, and we see if there is something to criticize or not. Maybe it's a good game, maybe it's a buggy piece of crap.

i dont understand why this game has fanboys if it's not released yet. don't you think it's better to try it when is released first, then you decide if you will convert into a fanboy? considering all the MMO garbage released lately, why should I trust this IS going to be THE game.
Welp your right. I think everyone should contact MMORPG and tell them to take down the hypemete because we shouldn't get excited about a game that hasn't been release yet.
I wouldn't necessarily call it 'arrogance', more like being pissed after getting laughed at and called vaporware/failure for the better part of a decade. After sacrificing a large part of their adult life to this project, with very little income I would imagine, who can really blame them for being fed up for all the critizism?
If the game is as good as they say it is, they've earned to be little arrogant. If it fails... well, I'm glad I'm not in their shoes.

Why don't you grow up a little and understand what the OP is saying, where he is coming from and that anyone who says anything besides "OMFG I cant wait for DF it's gonna be the bestest ever" isn't just a big meanie head or monster.
Too many fans here sooooo damn over protective of their precious little game. Good f'ng grief Charlie Brown! Can't ask questions, even if they do have merit. Can't have any doubts at all. Nobody is allowed to say any damn thing that isn't "DF is the best" without being labeled a troll here by 700 ridiculous, almost "extremist" fanboys.
I understand how Darkfall looks great and how the ideas and promises they have put forth SOUND good people. But until you play this damn game, it's still all just a dream and probably a fantasy in your heads that they have helped you create. After you guys play the game, and it's as great as you've ever imagined, then yes, I'll certainly understand you being such a big a fan. But until then, lighten up on calling anyone who has the slightest doubt or question about Darkfall a "troll" and resorting to immediate attacks. People that have concerns, doubts, questions and are posting here are probably just as interested in Darkfall as you if the truth is to be known. They might just be legitimate questions, doubts, or concerns. Trust me, that is a lot more healthy and realistic then just following with blind faith and immediately throwing personal attacks at anyone who doesn't think Tasos is God or that Darkfall Online will be the best f'ng game since the dawn of man.

Listen, yes we do need more objectivity, I agree with that, but to suggest that it is just for the pro-DF people to 'pick hate from the reality' and nothing more is stupid and shows the truth of of the angle of your agenda here.

Well your own response is about on the same level you seem to not like.
Hype is the same thing as being a "critic" before a game has even really been seen by anyone.
Considering the last few years of MMO releases.. it is probably only intellegent or at least logical to expect a POS game. Since even the "big ip's" or "well known developers" are producing garbage.
Considering the types of post that generally show up about Darkfall I have found it to have a far higher percentage of trolls than any MMO I remember on this stie. In fact the fanboi to troll ratio seemed to be dominated by the troll population.
Perhaps people in this forum are tired of it? So they are going to jump on anyone that says something seen as "negative" ?
I am not even really following this game.. if I hear something "good" about it when I can actually play it.. then I might try it.
However, I have heard a ton about this game simply due to the massive number of troll threads that have been on the front page while i was bored and looking for something to read.

I hope it's a good game. I hope it lives up to everyone's expectations. I hope it releases on time and can be accessed from NA without impossible lag issues.
I don't expect any of those things however.
What I do expect is:
Delays.
Excuses about delays.
Fanboys regurgitating those excuses like they were gospel.
Reasonable people pointing out how this game has been delayed longer than the second coming of Christ.
Reasonable people being called Trolls.

The thing is that alot of the concepts and features for this game are different to games which (sort of) failed such as AoC, it didnt live up to expectations obviously anyway. Now because of the fact alot of the systems put in place are different, systems thats people actually want, i think it actually has more of a chance to either be avery good game or an extremely crap game.... it depends how well implemented it is and so far it sounds like its implemented pretty well in my opinion.
There has been no talk of things not working very well, it has alot of unique ideas in it already and has a unique art style which is great. I hope the game does well, it seems, in theory, that it should.

Well, thats a shame, because trolls do not ever offer constructive criticism that has any value. Trolls just come looking to push people's buttons to get a fight. Trolls go out of their way to be asshats.
It's good to be objective and questioning, but that isnt trolling. Trolling is something else entirely.

I think his arrogance can be better defined as egotistical. Whether he is justified in it we will find out in a couple of months. He is well aware that he has no comeptiton to be compared to. AoC WAR PotBS Vanguard are just a few of the big names to release in the last couple of years wtih big hype big fans big supporters etc. I would say Darkfall does not have any more of a folllowing than any of these gamse, if anything I'd say Darkfall is smaller but more devoted. Not specifically because its Darkfall, just because they have been let down so many times and this is a new and innovative idea.
Darkfall doesn't need to blow us out of the water. It needs to have what it promised. If he can take the check list off of his FAQ and check each box honestly then he doesn't need to be modest. He has delivered everything he has promised and so if people were excited about what he promised, success shoudl be soon. On the other hand if he checks about half the boxes and says ill patch in the other half, then he is arrogant. Calling him arrogant at this point is an overstatement though. He has confidence, but I think its because Darkfall was done right. That is just how i personally decide to understand his tone. If Darkfall is another piece of shit that bombs though I don't know if I 'm going to buy another MMO for a few years. At least until the industry can get its act together. There are many other means of entertainment, and many that are more cost effective. Right now Darkfall has a chance to steal this ruptured market.
yeah you can't call him (i think its a her btw) arrogent when the product hasn't even been released yet. If it IS the best game ever, I don't think she's being arrogent at all, and if its the worst game ever, she should be suid for false advertizing, because thats WORSE than arrogant.
And btw, I never actually saw her as arrogant. I mean oh my gosh, she's actually saying good things about a product that her company is making! I'm SOO MAD!

I pray to God this game comes out on the 22nd, im so getting tired of all the bs about this game is coming out this game is coming out, soon it will be out, oh they didn't say it would be released in 08, blah blah blah.
You can't even get on this site anymore without hearing about DF, thus why I might as well join in and share my views and opinions. Though I get called a troll and asked why I post in a game Im not interested in, I can't help it when you see the word "Darkfall" come up more times than a presidential nominee.

This poster and the OP are correct.
We all of us want Darkfall to be a success - a true skill-based PVP world with no levels and few instances.
However, we've all experienced tge vast hype that precedes games that, once delivered, turned out to the faintest shadows of what was promised - from DnL to AoC.
The OP is only admonishing is to be cautious in our enthusiam - and not to attack mindlessly those who raise legitimate questions about what we do know now and what we speculate may come in the future,
