Hi!
Last weekend got me thinking a little about whether ORvR is actual a viable way to level up in WAR. After the recent changes, there was a lot of ORvR action on my server over the weekend. I think I played maybe 2 scenarios, the rest was just raiding and defending of keeps in T3.
I noticed however, that during the weekend (dunno, played maybe 6 hours or so) I did not level up once - and that is on level 20. I got maybe 75% of the xp needed for 21. Again, I was involved in ORvR fights, keep takes etc most of the time. In 2 out of the 3 pairings I got about 1/3-2/3 of RvR influence filled up.
While the new RvR influence awards got people actually go out there and do RvR, I am starting to wonder if the XP one gets is properly calibrated to the time invested. Don't get me wrong, I have no intentions to power level to 40, but I would like to level up once in while
Any thoughts? Or different experiences?

yes you can. I've leveled an engineer all the way up w/o doing quests. Maybe an occassional PQ here or there, but nearly 95% of leveling was through PvP.
Well, I can only speak from the view of a rank 30 Rune Priest, but experience seems to come very slowly for me. Reknown flies, but exp trickles. Perhaps it has to do with damage/kills done? In any event it's much slower than questing, a good bit slower than Scenarios, and seems as slow or even slower than (mindless) PQ grinding.
Of course, it all feels hideously slow at this level.
One of the biggest problems I have with MMOs is the leveling system. I hate doing stupid quests. I still cant figure out how I got in WoW to level 60 (pre-TBC) and then to 70 within a month. I hate questing so much. I think I was able to level in WoW because I was with guild mates all the time.
When I got into War beta, I started the usual questing then discovered that I didnt have to quest to level. So since launch I have only done 5 quests ... those were required for the Heavy Metal event last month.
I level only through RvR and oRvR
AWESOME!

You need to do the ORVR quests like kill 10 players or scout this area etc to make ORVR completely viable you also need to move to different battle fronts and do other realms. Also if you focus solely on killing and rarely taking Objectives your hurting your XP more than anything. It was frustrating in Nordland to gain so little XP because everyone focused on solely killing and not actually taking / defending BFOs. We had no problem at all getting XP / RP in the other realms especially if there was another party around.
My friends and I started fresh chars friday and other than a few travel quests since we were travelign between realms the whole weekend we only did ORVR and reached lvl 10 with Renown Rank 10. Honestly the best way to play the game is to incorporate a little bit of the other types of game play. If you want to do mostly ORVR do a lil PVE (like one or two quests) or a scenario(with the appropraite kill / play quests) on occasion to give your Rank some help so you can keep your Rank and your Renown Rank relatively the same level (which is rather important).
I think ovrvr is alot of fun but it definetely is not the fastest way to level. I think open rvr expirience should be tripled to make it a viable lvling option. Instanced rvr like it or not is still the fastest way to lvl you just have to play when people are queing.
I am level 37 and I would guess that 75% of my leveling was from RvR, scenerios in particular. It didnt really slow down till I hit 30. Still it is the easiest grind I have yet to play, especially with a max level of 40.
Levelling through open RvR will be a lot slower than other methods. One big benefit though is your renown rank. My rr was already on 40 when I hit rank 40.
