Blackguard and KoTBS Questions

What classes mirror the Blackguard and KoTBS and what sets them apart?

Has these two classes ended Dest from being the ones who normally win in PvP? There were often times 3-4 Chosen/Black Orcs slaughtering us in PvP. Do the tanks seem to be balanced on both sides now? I remember this being a big problem.

Thanks

A lot are playing KotBS at the moment because they are new.  The KotBS mirrors the Chosen, which means that to be maximally effective for you and your group, you are probably going to want to "twist" auras -- a mechanic that a lot of players don't like, and one of the things that eventually led to fewer people having Chosen mains than was initially thought would be the case.  The KotBS is a strong anti-melee tank, but weaker against casters.

The BG's mirror is the IB -- its core mechanic is building up hate (the mirror to grudges) to power higher abilities.  However, unlike the IB, the BG is designed as an anti-caster tank.  The initial player reviews of the BG are mixed at best, and it isn't nearly as popular as the KotBS is at the moment.  In part that may have to do with the fact that Destro players were happier with their two pre-existing tanks than Order players were with theirs, but in part it also reflects the different use of the class.

I have not noticed that the KotBS has led to Order "winning" more in PvP.  There are a lot of dynamics at play here -- nerfs of other classes have led to a substantial reduction in the number of healers playing overall (which is bad for tanks and other classes that need healing), and, more recently, there are far fewer BWs/Sorcs due to their nerfs as well.  So overall, while the KotBS has some Destro complaining (generally MDPS are the ones complaining, because they are what the KotBS is designed to counter), overall I haven't seen it changing the result that much, or changing the overall population situation.

I'd say Novaseeker summed it up quite nicely. Personally though I feel that the balancing is pretty good, even though it's a major pain in the ass as m

Sounds like Destro is finally getting a taste of how it feels to be ran into the dirt a lot. I remember on Alliance getting rolled almost all the time due to all the tanks and mdps Destro had, while we didn't have an Empire tank. Now that we have a tank, it sounds like the truly skilled players are finally winning.

Just curious...from this part of your post, do you typically just run scenarios? It would seem so from the way you put this. No offense meant...just asking as this tends to be the experience of a lot of folks that have come over from "another game" where "battlegrounds" were their entire concept of PvP.  Personally, I think that scenarios are a VERY skewed vision of the overall RvR (more than PvP as people seem inclined to describe it) experience of the game. Basically, and as has been seen in MANY forum posts here time and again, if your basis of judgement of PvP for this game is from scenarios, you are WAYYYYYYY off and missing a LOT of the actual game itself. The addition of the two new classes has indeed "filled in the gaps" but I don't think either  have shifted the game to any large extent (yes, Knights helped Order out a whole lot, but not by a huge amount....there are still "numbers" to overcome and Mythic has not addressed that).

In tier 1 and 2 its all about tactics and gameplay

Many a time with 2 KOTBS in a group we are able to take on Destro but mainly its all tactics I attack there healers ,teh healers starts running I after him and few destro tag along ,that way I am able to keep 3 to 4 destro accupied for a while till rest of teh grp ganks upon the objective

But wit the same grp if not played with tactics we lose horribly

Tier 3 is the real testing area All scenarios I played with BW Order was getting ripped apart with huge margins Didnt matter what tactics was used

We need to wait and see till most of the KOTBS reach tier 3
