Ill start off by saying i think a game with 6 continents would be cool. Each continent advances(by starting off as cavemen and going up until sci-fi) and discoveries are made. At first you couldnt get to other continents but as your kind get smarter they learn to build boats, and then you can explore. Maybe even have it so custimizable that you can make your own race and others have the choice to join it and your race evolves together.
This is a small part of a idea i think is cool.

That is an interesting idea, however I could see each age as a expansion pack. Believe it or not, I am sure I am not the only one who has an idea for an mmorpg. I would really like to share my ideas as well, but I am not sure if that is safe...Anyways, I have spent 4 years on ideas and concepts that are very well thought out...I would love to get into the industry and perhaps one day make my dream come true.
I've got a healthy career in another industry, so sharing MMO concepts and ideas isn't really a problem on my end. Besides, anyone who steals an idea like that is probably not capable of actually pulling it off in any noteworthy way.
My ideas are varied, but let's start with a simple one. Most dungeons in MMOs are simplistic to the extreme. They feature large rooms and corridors between them, and these rooms have monsters in them that the players defeat for XP and moneys. But that is all they have, and it makes the slog through dungeons boring. So, let's throw in some spice. Perhaps some sections that require some acrobatic platforming, or a puzzle room here and there, or even areas laid with traps that must be avoided.
The problem is that installing these sorts of mechanics would require a moderate, if not total, overhaul of the engines used to run MMORPGs in this day and age. But then, that overhaul is bound to happen eventually...

A MMO setting in the Pen and Paper game Traveller.
A MMO setting in the German Pen and Paper game The Dark Eye.
