Update after getting 2 characters to lvl 18

My first post about this game was very possitive, and I still feel the game its self is fantastic.  But as others have noted, the population is very low.  There's lots of people on the starter island and once off the island it seemed like plenty of people to play with.  Then most of the people i had met leveled past me, and i couldnt find anyone to play with.  I still think the games great, but you better know a few people you can talk into playing with.  After going days without finding a team i dont think i can justify playing any more.  I need to team alot to have fun in mmo's.

Two options work for getting teams.  1. be in a guild or 2 know where the popular spots are and be there.

For example at 18 I'd probably hang out around KE and/or try to create a group for that dungeon.

It really helps to play on a populated server. Right now the most populated in my opinion is Seradon. Then join a guild and you will see the game come alive.

This may be so but not everyone wants to play on an american server. If SOE had any sense they would of offered Vanguard as FREE to play for one month over christmas. By doing this they would of drawn in a big crowd of players who are off work or not at school.

Does anyone here remember EQ1 being on a pc gammer disc back in 2001-2 at christmas,it went down a blast.For some reason the SOE vanguard team are not interested in hyping Vanguard since it has been revamped and 99% fixed.

 

Haha, I remember that PC Gamer disc. My friend popped it in, we watched him play EQ, we said WTF is this, and never played it again. We were Ultima Online fans... anways, this isn't 2001, do people even buy that magazine anymore? There is no point to hype Vanguard, waste of money. WAR was very hyped and as soon as WotLK came out, everyone left. You cann't stop the juggernaut that is WoW with a free trial, sadly.

well where are you questing right now? cause i can tell you some places around 18 to quest if you tell me where you are.

Seradon is nicely populated.  At 18, you can get very spread out becaues there are so many different places to quest and explore.  At 30, you start hitting more common areas where you'll get many random group invites.

by the sounds of it Seradon is the only good server now?

you guys should really add a disclaimer "results/experiences not typical." you are just setting people up for disappointment when they do get to these magical levels and areas where populations are high and group invites are plentiful cause they dont exist. You really want to help someone who is having trouble justifying staying with the game because they cant find people to group with? Invite them to your guilds if you have one but stop leading people on withthis things will get better in 10 more levels or if you play in this area blah blah blah.

Just got an email from Vanguard, since its Christmas i decided to have a look at my canx sub and bam, i have until 31/01/09 to play Vanguard. And from reading the patch notes its looking pretty damn good.
