    Well, I have been playing.

    I stayed up until 6:00 a.m. playing, and I have not done that in a long time.  I raided with my guild, which was so-so because I dislike raiding.

    Good things:

    • Performance is drastically better for ME;
    • My guild is strong, healthful, and happy;
    • Did a pick-up group in RI with no problems:  population seems strong;
    • Fishing Feature implemented;
    • More Ships and Boats;
    • Class reforms seems to have made things better:
      • Told that the Pscionist and Dread Knight are best soloers now.

    Bad things:

    • Performance Issues
      • Map does not function right, yet the game is more immersive WITHOUT a map.
      • Froze a few times during raiding until I changed to "HIGHEST PERFORMANCE".
      • Glitching during "chunking," which does not really bother me though.
      • Armor bugs.
    • Character Customization is lacking
      • They have a stat system where you can allocate your points, and I wonder why something using this + additional abilities is not implemented.  It could really help this game a lot.
    • Worried about a raid-focus for the end-game.

    Anyone up for rolling a toon on Seradon in a few hours and level up in group?

A game that offers hours upon hours of engaging game play in adventuring, diplomacy, crafting and an all new, interactive fishing system. EQ2 may just be the game for you.

    It was only upon getting my latest rig that I realised that vanguard still looks like a beta. I really really hate its GUI, its make or break for me.

    Just came back, and I'm doing the ToI. Is it just my machine or are the names/titles blocked by some invisible wall? If the NPCs are on the edge of my screen I can see their names, otherwise I can't see them. Its same for PCs also.

    I agree that EQ2 is a very good game. It is probably, what I consider to be for my tastes and preferences, one of the top MMORPG's on the market. I enjoy it a great deal and there is a whole lot to experience there. I just feel, and this is just my personal experience and preference, that Vanguard is just a bit more mature and complex. Maybe the complexity is a bit facile but it just feels deeper. I guess I like that illusion. :)

    I also agree about the GUI in Vanguard, but then I never like the stock UI in any game. Vanguard's is particularly ugly. There are a few really great UI mods out there if you want to check out the game with a different look. If you are into that thing, it really improves on the presentation. Check out www.vginterface.com if you are interested. Otherwise just keep playing EQ2. Like I said, it is a great game with a lot to offer and I enjoy it myself.

    sweet, I've installed this game for the 3rd or 4th time now. I have been looking forward to this game since it was in alpha and I'm still waiting for it to reach it's real quality.

    Have made a character on Halgar (eu). Like the new animations and it seems to work more smoothly now. Some buggs here and there, but I'll play it :)

    I strongly suggest if your not Euro or on Oceanic time to make a character on Xeth or Seradon as Halgar, currently is a ghost town server.

    Rolled a new toon (Dreadknight) and started out on Dawn of the Isle(s), much better starting area, though I am on Halgar (EU) and the game is ghost town, probably will reroll a new on a US server. For some reason I enjoy the dreadknight while playing with my original toon is pain in the arse.

    Well, since I live in europe I think I'll go with Halgar, since the 6+ hour time difference would probably be a pain when I join a guild or grouping :o

    But I have seen some peeps on halgar, not completely empty :) Not crowded either ofcourse but, it's fine so far :)

    Same experience I had, to a T. Sad really, I wont even go into how dead the PvP server is. It makes makes a John Doe funeral look like a Aerosmith concert.

    If you want the full game directly I think these links will be the fastest way.

    http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/2034986

    Otherwise you can download the trial island at:

    http://vanguard.station.sony.com/isleofdawn/

    That will eventually patch the full game for you, but I would think that the .cab files are the fastest way.

    But maybe you want to start with the smaller trial island first, chances are though (I don't know) that it will patch the full game if you have an activated account for the complete game.

    I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

    After playing a bit more, the game has improved a lot since release, though still buggy a bit but has some very nice features. I might ever resub after my free time:)

    Really? I seem ti find people all over the place? Not in Huge numbers granted but I have No trouble sighting people. Whether or not they want to Group is a diffrent matter.

    If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
